Symphony X are amazing. The energy of their live shows is incredible. I will never forget seeing Michael Romeo come on stage with a bandaged hand. Half way through the show the bandage came off but he kept playing while blood was dripping all over his guitar. Could there be anything more metal or more epic than that?!?
I love love love Symphony X. A very underrated band. Saw them live twice, they are amazing live!! This song is very special to me. It reminds me of someone who is very dear to me. I've heard this song so many times & never get tired of it. That chorus is so beautifully ethereal!!. Don't worry Nick I cry everytime I hear this song. Cheers!
Nick thanks for showing this. I have heard of symphony x . But just for some reason, never checked them out! I feel stupid. I loved the clarity in the vocals . And it was such an easy listen. Loved the guitar solo in particular! Great reaction! I appreciate you both so much! Take care my friends! Look forward to more!
Thanks for your reaction! I'm a big SX fan and I was finally able to see them live a couple of years ago here in Italy..they were absolutely amazing, and Russell Allen is such a charismatic entertainer! Definitely go see them if you have the chance!
One of my favourite bands. I believe the first tracks I heard were 'Fallen' and 'The Odyssey', the latter of which is, of course, epic in every sense, and is now my all-time favourite song. They were also the first proper band I saw live, back in London in 2019, and I was delighted that their encore for that tour was their glorious 24-minute epic!
Thanks for the introduction. I will check out more from them. This is a kind of role reversal as I'm 59 and was playing Rush, Genesis and Pink Floyd in bands in 79 and 80.
This was my first song by them that I heard when I was trying to find new and interesting prog metal back in the late 90's when all my hero like Rush, Yes, and Genesis, had gone to a more rock/pop sound. Maybe for you're next reaction of Symphony X do one of their more epic pieces like Through the looking glass.
Great reaction Nick and Lex! Symphony X are the best. I saw them supporting Dream Theater in 2007 supporting this album. Nick, you should check out Pinnacle Point. They're sort of a cross between Symphony X and Kansas. They have an amazing singer in Jerome Mazza and use an electric violin in their music.
I saw them at the 70k Tons of Metal Cuise some years back. Went out for a cigarette, and was right next to Michael Romeo, but didn't have the guts to approach him.
Thank you for playing my favorite SymX song! It doesn't get played or exposed enough. Russell Allen gets to show his versatility that he doesn't show on their heavier stuff. There is something about guitarist who are great, not showing they can play a million notes a minute, but can work a slower pace and show brilliance! Romeo, Gilmore, Petrucci to name a few. Love the spaciousness of this tune. Thank you for this choice. Cheers!
Great reaction guys, Symphony X is one of my favorites as well and I have a similar story, they became one of my go-to bands in prog. Would you guys be up for one of their long epics in the future? It would be nice to expose Lex to The Odyssey :P Or maybe something a little heavier like Walls of Babylon since so far you've done some of their power ballads
Thanks for highlighting this incredible band, which needs to climb up or "be climbed up" the rock olymp at least retroactively by the effort of us music fans.
Symphony X is definitely the apogee of metal for me. I would add Fates Warning (check out the latest album, its great), Savatage, Shadow Gallery, Sieges Even, Ayreon...
Also as I'm listening to your video, I see you really like the solo, PLEASE listen if you haven't already, Ayreon "dawn of a million souls", it has what many Romeo fans consider his best solo ever
Been trying to get them into the band (sent a few playlists with various Metal bands and subgenres with FW tracks), but also . . . I'm going to try to "remedy" this soon. They are my fave Prog Metal band (and "Arch/Matheos").
Hello NicknLex, very good idea to show some Symphony X, they are such a good prog metal band, with lots of classical inspiration. I suggest to try The Odyssey or an older one, The Divine Wings of Tragedy. Thanks and all the best for the future! Ah and if you like this kind of prog metal, there is an interesting French band called Adagio, they did a few very good albums in the 200x.

This song was very soft compared to their other songs. Check out sounds like Iconoclast, sea of lies or inferno for more heavier takes. They always maintain a great balance
Loved it, Symphony X is the only band in the world that can make you cry, especially this song, When All is Lost and To Hell and Back. Of course there is more but these last 3 albums have had such an amazing sound, and there are so many layers in every song it's just perfect, Symphony X is perfect. Even though I'm a huge Thrash Metal enthousiast, they are the best band in the world (if there is actually something better tell me plz) Loved the video I subbed Also Angra - Carolina IV

Their music is diverse. This is more of a ballad for them, but trust me they can quickly flip the switch. Just look up a bunch of random Symphony X tunes here on youtube, you might be amazed.
@@funkster007 yeah the band name looks familiar just missed them for some reason. I’ll have to look into it. Any album you think is the best to start with?
If you like heavier, Paradise Lost, Iconoclast and Underworld are the albums to listen to. Anything before that is heavy, but more progressive than heavy. These 3 are progressive, but more heavy.
Speaking of Paradise Lost you should have a listen to the Yorkshire doom masters.Try 2 of their very best True Belief and Embers Fire for starters. They are rather different but the power and majesty shines through

Your correct Nick, that’s Russell Alan on lead vocals. One of the best vocalist in progressive metal-very powerful & soulful with a lot of range.

Como puede ser que este temazo tenga tan pocas visitas? La gente es sorda. Este es el tema más Kamelot de la banda
If we go that line of the almighty Symphony X than it must be "Candlelight Fantasia" and "Swan Song" next...
