I have a phrase I try to live by and it has helped me - Never make any decision in life out of fear. I have found positive results come from positive decisions and actions.

I am 9 months into my recovery from a cerebellar stroke. I am 53 and a Zumba Instructor for 12 years so always active.
Do not give up hope for recovery if you put in the effort you will see results.
I could not walk after my stroke which was not diagonsed until 3 months after so i had had no specific stroke treatment. I just got on with my life and slowly over time i am now starting to see the results. Getting on with my life helped me to control my thoughts and even though having another stroke is always on my mind i am trying to not let it consume me.
My thoughts are with everyone who has suffered a stroke. ❤

Since coming home from my second stay in rehab, still dealing with lack of energy, and now edema in both feet and legs because I can't sleep in my bed without burning pain in my thighs,(may have been due to bed in facility) so sleep in chair, with legs elevated in living room. I have learned from this, other situations are out of my control, but what I can control is.....My husband got my new glasses from the facility yesterday; for the last 3 weeks, I was told they didn't know what happened to them. They were there the WHOLE time!!! Have stroke related double vision. But glad to be home!!!!

I add and don’t beat yourself up for knowing the risk was there but ignoring it .. just take it as I will do better and keep to it.

I have put "alarm" notification on my mobile. I have the correct times for meds logged in. @ 9am/1pm/6pm/9pm. So it notifies me and I take the meds as required. I find this a great help. Many thanks for you helpful videos. 👏👍❤️

Hi what do you mean by: “ left brain stroke: bad energy just touch and went?” This may be right as my right arm was paralysed only for a few weeks, but I still have some balance problems and limping..
There was some improvement though. I’d be interested to know more about the “ left brain and the bad energy?”
      Many thanks

I got over the fear until my older brother passed away at the age of 55 from a heart attack. Heart disease runs in my family so I've always been cautious. Now I have to work extra hard and try to live a life without stress. I enjoy your videos they're so inspirational.

Thank you for sharing your personal story, and how it relates to fear. I’m so grateful you pulled through and pray it not impact your life any further.
Years ago, I came to the conclusion that if you live your life in fear, you never lived your life. Always waiting for something bad to happen can keep you from enjoying the every day blessings that happen. Bad things can happen anytime to anyone, but like you said, if you focus on it, it just prevents you from enjoying life. Plus the stress of that worry can add up. It’s a lot easier said than done. Counseling can help work through the fear if people can’t overcome it on their own.

100%! For those of us with anxiety, it’s a daily struggle to not let fear consume us. But practice helps and finding support through medication, counseling, friends, etc. is necessary!! ☺️❤️

I appreciate you making a video on this topic as it's something I've struggled with. I also appreciate you sharing your own struggles recently, hope all is well with you and baby. Finally, I'm thankful for your brief mention of AVMs as that was the cause of my stroke. Thank you

@@PostStrokeOrg: HI Dr. Elyse, I have written to you before. I was the one that didn't even know what kind of stroke I had. My new Doctor said that I had a brain stem stroke and that I was having them long before the one that sent me to the hospital in 2021. The hospital said that my stroke was caused from high blood pressure to go home, take my medication and live my life. Fast forward to 2024 and I have had 3 more since the original. I take my medication every day but I'm still paralyzed with fear. I don't want to be a burden to anyone. My Husband has been an Angel. He has taken so much care and I know that if I didn't have him, I would have expired because I just couldn't take care of myself. For me the depression and anxiety are a big issue. For that reason I don't drive and even riding I have to take something to keep me calm. You are making good sense to me. I will use the Serenity prayer for my future. I can now walk without feeling unbalanced. I still have the tingling all on my right side but I think it's getting a little better. I still have NO energy so all my plants are definitely suffering (the ones that are left that is). Now onto YOU and that BABY. You have to remember to take some of your own advice. Babies DON'T come with a manual and there is limited information out there. Be sure to ask your Aunts, your Grandmother, your Mother (OR the lady down the street that has 10 kids) questions. I know that you will be a GREAT Mom !!!!!! Thanks for this channel. You are doing a great service to people like me. ❤✌🏻♥️

I just found out that I had a TIA (mild stroke) and that I was at high risk for a full blown stroke and heart attack. I’m terrified. Especiallg as I’m still having the symptoms of a stroke. I have been sedentary for over 10 years and that’s what caused my high risk. Quackery doesn’t help me either. God and the Truth aka the Bible works for me.

Our family member had a minor stroke in January 2023 that he mostly recovered from but then he had a major pontine stroke in August 2023 that affected his swallowing, speech, and right side. His blood pressure had been controlled but he should have been on blood thinners. He fears having another stroke.
