    Great video overall. I was looking for a timelapse for a looong time as I'm a complete noob when it comes to the whole mechanical bike departament. Learned a lot!

    Nice video, im rebuilding my R1 4c8 at the moment and using Chinese fairings ..I found if you use a heat gun on the those bumps on upper front side fairings at the join you can straighten them out ..before fitting back heat inside and bend inwards then fit ... so far im happy with Chinese fairings and the fitment.

    On an 08 R1 I rebuilt for a friend, the side fairings came off at speed. Basically the molded pieces that are inside the main side fairings that you screw into for the upper side fairings broke off from the fairing. And these were "injection molded". We ended up drilling small holes on the side fairing and using small allen cap head screws to hold the upper side fairings to the mid fairings.

    • @TristanDurandBuilds
      @TristanDurandBuilds  4 роки тому +1

      Yes those are also injected, I’ll see what’s up with those, for now I’m happy with it 👍

      @@TristanDurandBuilds Yeah good luck. Other than that one issue, everything else was very good like you described. We did the 25 anniversary colors and added yellow reflective tape to the wheel rims.

    Nothing beats OEM fairings, but of course there is a major cost associated with that. But overall these don't look too bad.

    • @TristanDurandBuilds
      @TristanDurandBuilds  4 роки тому +2

      Exactly, even used on eBay the oem fairings would have cost me so much more. I think those are great value 👍

  • @r1learner178
    @r1learner178 5 місяців тому

    That "bump" you have on the fairing is a lug that clips into the top part, just push on it and it should clip in.

    Great video, very thorough and honest. Quick question, which company supplied your fairings? There are a number of them on eBay and I’d like to use the same company that supplied yours. Thanks.

    Great video man,i have seen all your videos,from start till the end and i loved it a lot,in this way i also considered myself that i have seen the yamaha r1 very closely,from many angles,i loved to see how you inspect its built quality.I am from India and i love bikes,i have a ninja 300,i bought it second hand from a owner who totally murdered the bike,no fairings nothing,even the foot rest ,gear selector,bent front alloy wheel,bent suspension pipes,broken radiator,and almost 45% of the body parts were destroyed,the enjine was as usual like the new,i bought did a very hard work to give it back the life,your video made me remember my work,i love superbikes and i just see videos,sad part in my life is...i am a poor person and i cant afford to buy one.

    Hi Tristan. I had the same issue with the lower section of the screen. Some masking tape and black paint from the rear( doesn't matter if gloss or matt, the plastic from the screen makes it look glossy) Problem solved. Hope this helps.

    • @TristanDurandBuilds
      @TristanDurandBuilds  4 роки тому +1

      Yes this is true, I want a matte look so I ordered some matte black vinyl, I’ll show that on next video ✌️

    • @TristanDurandBuilds
      @TristanDurandBuilds  4 роки тому

      I’m kind of afraid I would have to sand the plastic before painting and I don’t want to do that
      I would paint on top because I want a matte finish (I don’t have anything glossy black on the bike)
      Did you sand before painting or just paint directly on the new screen ?

      I didn’t come across any seller that was particularly emphasizing that, to me it was always coming from Hong Kong
