    Justin wrote this as a young man of only 19, who adored a lady from afar, and was too shy to approach her. Eventually he did. They married and are still married to this day

    This song was released near the end of 1967, and originally charted in 1968. Re-released in 1972 and rose even higher on the charts.

    Justin Hayward (lead singer) wrote this masterpiece when he was 19 years old. On the album the song ended with a gorgeous poem.

    • @sweisbrod6109
      @sweisbrod6109 7 днів тому +6

      The poem embedded in the orchestral part toward the end is called The Late Lament. It was written by one of the band members. In one early release it was recited by Richard Harris (the first Dumbledore)
      Once you've heard it, the song seems incomplete without it.

    The Moody Blues like so many other groups and performers from that age of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, as they age, they are like fine wines. They just keep getting better. I am so glad I was part of that music generation. Each day, something new came across the airways, better than the previous day but not as good as tomorrow. What wonderful memories.

    🇨🇦 Imagine being British and not remembering some of your countries greatest bands !
    Now you should react (under threat of flogging) to other great British bands like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Queen, the Hollies, more Moody Blues, the Kinks, Pink Floyd, the Who, Led Zeppelin, Procol Harum or the Animals, just to mention a few ! Good Luck ! 🇨🇦

    This live performance was in 2000, I think, but Justin Hayward first sang it on the album 'Days of Future Passed' in 1966/67
    So many fantastic songs for you to check out - just a few listed below. You can't pin the Moody Blues down to just one genre!
    Try: The Actor; What am I doing here; Meanwhile; I'm Just the Singer in a Rock and Roll Band; Question; Driftwood; The Story in Your Eyes; Gypsy.
    Also check out Justin singing 'Forever Autumn' which first appeared on the 1978 version of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds and then as a live stage performance in 2006

    Seen the 'Moody's' several times,great live band!,although British they had most of their success in the 'States'!,around 80 million albums sold in all!,both Justin Hayward the lead guitarist & John Lodge on bass are still touring as solo artists,Hayward doing a lot from his solo work & a few Moody's songs where as Lodge is more into keeping the Moody's back catalogue of music alive mixed with some of his solo work!.

    The albums are journeys from one track to the next. We wanted better sound, recording and media technology because of bands like the Moody Blues that needed higher fidelity to best enjoy the music at home. (We call that being an "audiophile", a person who invests in best home entertainment to try and replicate studio or live performance.)

    I was aware of the original album right when it came out in 1967. My sister had it, and I kept stealing it out of her room. I have had the privilege of attending multiple performances, from just Justin with flutist/backup singer at a small music hall in Nashville, Justin with just 3 backing musicians (his current touring band), the 7-member band for most of the 2000s, all the way up to several performances with a full orchestra. (No, I was not at the Royal Albert Hall that night; the commute from California is just a bit too much....)

    There was jazz-rock fusion, blues-rock fusion, then there was this: orchestral fusion-rock fusion. I'm sure there was a big band fusion also, but I can't put a finger on a specific instance.
    Even more interesting was Tomita's interpretation of classic symphony performed electronically. See "Snowflakes are dancing" or "Firebird".
