I struggle with PTSD from the day he tried to kill me. Any man who can’t say their sorry or see that they did wrong is a psychopath. A guy who pressures you to do anything, you’re not comfortable with is wrong and has no respect for you. Set your standards high and be picky! You deserve that! Praise God you walked away! Could not agree more Ashley. My partner is, by public definition, stunningly beautiful. But people continue to only judge based on external appearance. I met her and fell in love with the person she is. Her mind, her soul and the person she IS, on the inside, shines a glow that EASILY surpasses her outer beauty. Thats the main reason we became partners and true soul mates. It seems incredible that this song isn't played more. It's inspirational and I'll be showing my partner this as soon as I get home. I love this song. It reminds me that walking away from a bad situation is important. That your own self worth is important. Leaving a man that destroys your self worth is worth it. When you're in an abusive relationship and he breaks you down so badly that you question everything about yourself or even your life, you tend to believe them and think that maybe you did something wrong to deserve the abuse you endured. Then one day you wake up and realize how wrong they are and that you're worth it and that they no longer have a hold on you, that's the greatest feeling ever in the world.
So if you find yourself questioning yourself, don't because girl you are so worth it and deserve so much better then what life has handed you so far. You are wanted and loved by many.

I was in a emotionally, mentally, physically abusive relationship. I walked away he tried to pull me back in but I found that inner strength and kept going, saddest part is he denies everything. He knows exactly what he did. So keep going find the most comforting music you can find its coping skills and it works. He's not worth it. You are.
I left my abusive relationship of a year and a half in December 2017. I came across this song months later and it has helped along with other songs with similar messages. I hope you are doing okay. You are worth deserving all the respect in the world. Just be patient and you will find exactly who and what you are meant to be with/have.

I left one as well after years of abuse of all kinds, i had to move back to my moms sleeping in the basement on the floor with my kids. I was at my worst, mentally i was a mess and thought who would want me. I am now in an amazing relationship, he fathers my kids and loves them, we got our own place and are building a buisness together... life can and will change just stay strong, there will still be many down hills and curves along the way. Tough times don't last, tough people do!

I remember when I was watching the voice and you sang Pam Tillis song, shake a sugar tree and Grandpa, those were the two songs you sang and instantly upon hearing them I fell in love. Your performance let me to you tube and I found all these amazing songs that I've never heard about. They captured my heart and will forever be. I'm 21 and where I'm from girls my age doesn't even like country and western music , non of my friends do not even my mama. But there's something about your music and other country music I can relate too, it's soothing and always get me in the groove.
Such powerful, heartfelt lyrics. I have been in relationships in the past with very controlling and abusive women who did everything to belittle me and take advantage of my compassionate soul.
It took for me to get away from those relationships, change my attitude, start hanging around people with a positive outlook and having faith in both God and myself before I was able to gain self-worth again.

Danielle I'm sorry that country radio is giving you a raw deal., I think you're the best singer to come out since Carrie Underwood. And yet country radio will not play you. If you are around in the 1990s you would have been a household name along with Shania and faith and Martina.

At least 90 to 95% of music played on country radio stations is by male artists with very few exceptions (usually named Miranda). They hardly even play Carrie Underwood anymore. Danielle Bradbery should be (and will be) a huge star, unfortunately I don't think radio is going to help her much.

Really Tired 64 OMG....i had the same observation..... was listening to go country here in Southern California and literally in the course of 2 hours there was one female singer that was played and this was almost non-stop songs because they were having some kind of a block with no commercials.... I was appalled there are better female singers and songs right now than there are even men in country music how is it possible one female vocalist was played in over 2 hours!!!!
