Hey Yao. Yes, the Look Pivot platform releases sideways and many consider this an essential feature. I wouldn't say it's important to be safer. You're in good hands as long as you buy a binding from a reputable manufacturer (Salomon, Look, Marker, Tyrolia, etc).

@@FactoryCollectiveOfficial the look pivot doesn't actually release laterally out of the heel. only the tyrolia protector and knee binding do.
