I had and made the 70s jumpsuit pattern. I might still have the pattern if I look hard enough. I made it in lightweight twill it was red. I made it for a college freshman party. I met my husband at that party. He loved my jumpsuit. I made the view without pockets and I made a self belt to cinch in my waist
This is the first collection I have been inspired by from Simplicity in quite a while! My style must be quite eclectic because I love both of those pants!!
I enjoy your pattern walk throughs. As a new sewist I learn so much about what to look for, fabrics, fabric pronunciations lol, and why it’s important for me to start with easy patterns. I even got an understanding of what can make a pattern easy to sew or not i.e. the silk blouse
I love these videos so much! I live in the country and rarely drive in to the city, so your videos are truly like I'm sitting in JoAnn looking through the latest catalogs. You point out every detail, although honestly, I'm sure I would breeze over most of them and miss so much! AND you make it so fun and entertaining! Thanks, Lindsey!
Thank you for all of your review. I made the jumpsuit in the early 70's out of brown velour fabric. It was so comfortable! I also have my eye on the raincoat, I love the length of the longer pattern.
Great in depth review as always, thank you Lindsey! I'm really liking the last 2 Simplicity collections. I feel they're on a roll again with lovely details in their designs. I love the sweetheart neckline first dress and pretty much everything else, including the Mimi G short suit pattern, it's just cute all round!
I don't think you covered it but there's a pattern for a Renaissance Festival-esque costume, with a pair of stays/corset, a flowy sleeved top, and a flowy skirt (it's S9734) that I bought. I'm always looking for costume stays patterns and I like these new ones a little better than Butterick 4669 (which I believe is now S9592), which is the pattern that a lot of people have used in historical-type costumes.
Thanks, as always, Lindsey! You do such an amazing job on these reviews. I watch every minute. And, I waited for you to make note of the fact that for the misses and womens' patterns they finally made a different view for each. They must have finally listened to you!! I'm so glad. Several of these will be on my mind while I wait for my JoAnn's to stock them.
That pink top with the open back would be a beautiful dress. I don’t like when you suggest putting the waist so high and too close to the bust, to me that is an empire waist. Is there any way you could do a how to video of converting a drop shoulder pattern to a fitted shoulder? I think they are much more flattering on most bodies.
Those patterns that attract are: the multi-tiered dress--such a beautiful neckline; Mimi G's linen suit is a must have. Overall, these are great for Spring. Everything! Thank you, Lindsey. ~ L
I wonder if difficult vs easy to sew refers to how much fitting is involved? Finally! some original looks. I liked the blouse with the handkerchief neckline and love the multiple pleated wide leg pants with the crop top blouse.
Love these patterns!! i especially love the 9700 jumpsuit-I made this in the 70's out of a double knit that looked like denim!! I wore that jumpsuit all the time, and received many compliments; I have since gained weight, and I see it's available in a 26-I am buying this and making again I am SO excited! I love the 60's/70's vibe; this is really a nice pattern, and I highly recommend it! :+) Also, I made the "porkchop" pockets as they used to call them, and I made a self fabric sash and pulled it through the "loops" of said pocket-it was adorable!
9717 I wonder if they had the cardigan longer than the skirt as it seems to further elongate the outfit - I think it's very elegant but can be transferred into a light dressing gown. Versatile and comfortable yet has simply elegance.
That funnel neck top is really cool. The open back feels a little bit out of place. I think the top is too structured to tuck in. It looks very sculpted. The pleated pants are gorgeous. The side pocket on the vintage jumpsuit is on the side of the pant leg. If you wore that vintage jumpsuit without a belt it would look like a flight suit or a mechanic's uniform.
Joann currently has McCall's on sale to Jan 16th. Butterick and Vogue go on sale Jan 19-22. So Simplicity should probably be on sale with the next ad. This one ends Feb 1st.
The tiered midrift dress is very cute but the midriff stops at the side seam. I'm guessing those ruffled tiers are all rectangular pattern pieces. How can so many mistakes be missed? There must be no editing at all. The festival dress has no bodice shaping. It would probably need adjustment for anyone larger than a B cup. I had a skirt with a pointed yoke very much like that in the 80s. Wore it to death.
Always a fun show! 70s jumpsuit been there done that ...wait till you have to pee lol. Those 2 shaped blouses maybe good for older sewers like me ( 62) why are women's pants so long ? When half the population is wearing leggings.
Thanks for the videos. I always enjoy them. fyi, “vivmom” on youtube frequently makes vintage patterns, but usually modern looking if you want to check out her channel.

I adore view A of 9702. Your channel always makes me happy!
Your pattern reviews are always spot on. I can't help but wish the pattern designers would watch your videos for the useful feedback :)
Yay!! You're back. I look forward to this. Thank you.🥰🪡🧵
There were three or four I really liked. I need a rain jacket and I liked design of the shorter one and pants with the tabs.
The drape my cool girl pants should be a sew along !! I love them!
I love the 70's jumpsuit!
Really like the adjustable waist pants and the rain jacket.
Thanks . Love your interpretation . I never get so much info from just looking at a pattern .
This is the first collection I have been inspired by from Simplicity in quite a while! My style must be quite eclectic because I love both of those pants!!
My mum made me and my sisters the 1970s jumpsuit in khaki twill in the 70s. I could be tempted to make it for my daughter

I so miss doing that, pouring over the catalogs dreaming of everything we think we are going to make ! 🥰
I am in love with 9715! Must make ❤

Pretty sure I made it, too.
As a little kid in the 1970's I saw ladies wearing these jumpsuits and big hoop earrings and let me tell you - they were Drop. Dead. COOL!!!
Definitely saw a few I’ll pick up at the next Joanne sale! I really liked 9706 and 9715. Nice!

I like the slip pattern....not overly fussy but gets the job done!
Sheer is a great idea for 9704. I would love a wistful flowy chiffon dress. I might do that with this pattern. Time to go to Joann’s!
Keep me posted on how it turns out!!

Thank you for a comprehensive and timely review. I really loved this collection personally.
You are so welcome!
I had the exact 1970's jumpsuit/pantsuit. My mom put elastic at the back waist...side seam to side seam. I was so sad when I out grew it!
Made my list ! Thanks for the video!

I love these videos. They’ve helped me so much when I’m looking at patterns and trying to make the jump from line drawing to my wardrobe.
I made that jumpsuit in the 70s I just took the waist in on the sides and did not have to wear a belt
Really excited about Mimi G's linen suit.

The easy sew button up blouse s9707 and Mimi's linen suit s9714 are must haves for me.
I love the vintage and the raincoat so much! Though I’m 5’1 so it would be a rain TARP. 😂
Ohhhhh my godddd and those pleated pants yes
Ok this was just amazing! I’m very excited to try some of these new ones!
Those patterns that attract are: the multi-tiered dress--such a beautiful neckline; Mimi G's linen suit is a must have. Overall, these are great for Spring. Everything! Thank you, Lindsey. ~ L
I totally agree!
I think the indie pattern you were thinking of is the Named Talvikki Sweater, which is for stable knits.
Yep! That’s the one!!
@@InsidetheHem have you done a first impression of Named? I'd love to see that one
I wonder if difficult vs easy to sew refers to how much fitting is involved?
Finally! some original looks. I liked the blouse with the handkerchief neckline and love the multiple pleated wide leg pants with the crop top blouse.
I think the level of difficulty is rated by the # of pattern pieces - NOT by the techniques required to make the garment.

Ooooh! 9714 Love elastic back

Wrap around dress that ties on the side. I still have one.
9700 could we put in a back casing for wide, gentle-gathered elastic instead of a belt?

9714 in white denim?
9709 shorts would have been nice to see in a photograph
I believe 'faille' is pronounced 'file'. Thank you for the preview.
Are big 4 patterns not going on sale anymore? I’ve been looking at hobby lobby and Joanne’s but I haven’t seen a sale in ages
They don't at Hobby Lobby that I'm aware of but they still do at Joann's.
Joann currently has McCall's on sale to Jan 16th. Butterick and Vogue go on sale Jan 19-22. So Simplicity should probably be on sale with the next ad. This one ends Feb 1st.
Where is the high hip area??
Half-way between the waist and fullest part of the butt?
@@missdemeanor3524 Thank you
I liked (maybe) the long, belly-buttoned shirt. The rest nope. I really enjoyed your review, Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching!

That skirt with the pointed yoke looks very Esprit. I had pointed yoke jeans, but never the skirt. Until now, that is!
@@missdemeanor3524 oh, yes, I had pointed yoke jeans too
