This is the beginning of every vodou series of ceremonies, particularly in the rada tradition. There are various versions of this prayer. This video begins a series filmed in 2009. It is dedicated to the memory of Belle Deesse senior who has since made the last voyage to meet her ancestors. This is also a belated Thank You for her hospitality.

But unfortunately you'd need a bit more than just the language. You need to go a bit deeper into Haitian culture. But I'm glad you were caught in the beauty of it. That's a good first step that even a good proportion of Haitians haven't made.
