this is so gorgeous, Ana!! the reveal at the end showing the effect of the gold leaf brought everything together. I also love the textures of the pastels. great work!
Im so glad i found your channel. Oil pastels are my favorite medium to work with and discovering new techniques or media to combine them with excites me.
Wow...This video is truly amazing. The combination of oil pastel and gold leaf creates a stunning and unique work of art. The shimmering effect of gold leaf adds a touch of elegance to the artwork. The artist's skill and technique are truly impressive. I can't wait to try it myself and see what beautiful creations I can come up with. Thank you for sharing your process and inspiring me to explore new artistic mediums...I have subscribed to your channel...😁🤗🥰🙏👍👍👍
Thank you for the kind words 🤗 I agree that these two mediums work suprisingly well together, and I'll definitely try making another piece with them. Welcome aboard! ❤️

Oh my goodness this was uploaded 6 days ago! It's exactly what I've been looking for! It's gorgeous! 😍 Does oil pastel stay on top of the leaf or do you have to strictly avoid going over the line?
Thank you for the kind words! ☺️ It’s a sculpting tool with a rubber tip. It’s harder than the silicone tools they use for polymer clay, and it’s perfect for smaller details when working with pastels ✨

Looks awesome in low light. What are you using to sketch on the canvas?
Thank you! I also really liked that shot :D It's still standing in the same spot, and I like how the gold leaf is reflecting the light from my lamp. I used a simple soft-lead coloured pencil for the sketch. It might have been Derwent Inktense, but I can't be sure. The surface was smooth enough to pull it off because I'd sanded it before priming and these panels come quite smooth as they are.

Hi! The gold leaf doesn’t move once it sticks to the surface, especially if you seal it afterwards, so you can put anything on top of it. In the case of media that dries though (like oil paint), there might be concerns about the durability of the paint that has been applied on top of gold leaf, but usually with oil paint and acrylics you’d apply gold leaf on top once the paint dries. I think that that would be very difficult with oil pastel because it doesn’t dry, so I applied the gold leaf first. But after that it was just the same surface as the rest of the panel.
@@anabellstudio I am having alot of fun working on pastel drawing for my brother. using both oil pastels and soft pastels. my media i normally work in is metal making jewelry and chainmaile. its fun learning how to work with pastels.
Thank you for the advice! Sure, the colours would be much easier to get with oil colours because the mixing works better, but I’m still pretty happy with colours in this drawing :)

Thank you! ❤️ You shouldn't worry about going over the gold leaf - the oil pastel covers it almost as easily as the rest of the surface.
Wonderful Paintintg, I LOVE too the gold leaf 😍😍
Thank you! The gold leaf is just peak self-indulgence haha
This is stunning. Just curious what tools you are using for the details on the faces? I'm just blown away by this piece it is beautiful ♥️

We can easily spot the sketch you create, we can feel it just by its originality
I am confusion
Does the gold leaf stick to the pastel? Would it stick to a paint brush of oil or acrylic paint, or is it mostly dry when you go over it?

What type of fixative or varnish do you use? It's a question, thank you for your video and your answer.
Hi! I didn't use a fixative for this piece I think, but I usually use the Sennelier oil pastel fixative spray.
New Sub Here 👍
Yay, welcome aboard! ❤
I am new to pastels just started this year and few weeks ago was wondering if you could use gold leaf in pastels :D
Good for you! They seem so hard to control, and yet they always seem to look so expressive.
Looks like you can, and, having done it, I'd really recommend applying the gold leaf first :D Hope you have fun with your oil pastels!
