In my view, regardless of what religion or ethnics you came from, one should at least go to one of the Spainish/Italian processions in his/her life time. I went to one in Cordoba in 2012 and the experience is really life changing even though I am not Catholic. The spirituality, unification and just the overall atmosphere is absolutely awesome.

Me pregunto por qué los norteamericanos tienen tanta obsesión con el kkk y todo lo que ven por el mundo lo relacionan con eso. Un poco más de cultura no les vendría mal, porque van camino de pasar a la historia como el imperio con la población más inculta del mundo.
Por cierto las procesiones de Semana Santa se ven en silencio, escuchando saetas o el sonido de los pasos o de los penitentes, no con la música horrenda que han elegido.

Un país con 2000 años de historia (EEUU no tiene ni 300), donde lo que más se fomenta es la disciplina, con una cultura enorme y muy rica, también milenaria, donde a diferencia de en los EEUU con la democracia y el exceso de libertad, hay una semi-dictadura que hace de sus ciudadanos un colectivo, su gente, que cuando se muda a otro país aprenden el idioma en 2 o 3 años pese a no tener ni el mismo alfabeto y se adaptan rápido. Un país racialmente homogéneo (exactamente igual que España hasta el siglo XX) en vez de multicultural

Here in Palo, LEYTE Philippines we have adopted this Christian tradition, but we have what we call "pudol" the headdress is not pointed and the "tais" which is the pointed one. They walk the street barefooted to repent earthly sins by feeling the heat of the road and gravel under their sole. And lm aspiring to be one with them someday. To a closer devotion to God.
