- Demonstrations across the Middle East and beyond in support of Palestinians kicked off on Friday, with thousands taking to the streets to demand an end to Israeli strikes as the IDF intensified its assault on Gaza in retaliation for the Hamas attacks.
Hamas, which rules Gaza, urged Palestinians to rise up for a "Day of Mobilization" on Friday in protest against Israel's bombardment of the enclave, calling on them to march on the mosque and to confront Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank.
There has been strong support and sympathy for Israel from Western governments and many citizens over the Hamas attacks, but Israel's response has also prompted anger, particularly in the Muslim world.

Israel declared independence 14 May, 1948, and the next day, a coalition of Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, (Trans)Jordan, Arab Liberation Army Troops all moved in to eliminate the Israeli forces and people. But instead of gaining the entire region, they lost more than 60% of the area they had originally occupied. It was a mistake to fight for complete domination of the area rather than accepting negotiations for peace and independence for both parties.

Me too. But what does that even mean? When innocent Israelis are killed in their home it is horrendous. Equally horrendous when Palestinians are killed in their homes by Israeli bombs. Just because we don't see rampaging Israeli gunmen killing innocent people, they kill them nonetheless. My sympathy and support for Israel as it struggles against terrorist and neighbors that threaten them with annihilation doesn't go so far as to support Israel genocidal attacks on Gaza.
