One wheel #38 - Non-skateboarders try a OneWheel+

- I haven't ridden a skateboard since high school, but I just got a OneWheel+ self-balancing skateboard. This is not an unboxing or tutorial video. This is just a video of me and some friends trying out the OneWheel+ for the first time. Now sure, grass is not the best surface for trying to learn how to ride a skateboard, but this skateboard is new. I didn't want to get it scratched up or have any of us get banged up. While grass is challenging, it's also safer than the road. We'll get to the road soon enough.
“I have this thing called work that keeps getting in the way of my fun time” That sums up life doesn’t it😂
I really appreciated this video. I’ve been wanting to get a OneWheel but am not a skateboarder. It’s hard finding videos of people getting one that don’t already have that skateboarding balance. This was really cool to see the learning process. Thanks for sharing!
About to turn 51 and I’m getting one to commute the 4 miles to work. My wife thinks I’m crazier than usual.
Do it!
Do it yourself blizzard hahaha. Wasn't expecting that
Is it easy to learn with no skateboarding experience?
What if you let someone try your board and they rode away on it and never came back.
That someone must have went to personal Heaven on HELL Earth because someone was dumb enough to fall for it. Lol.
👌 Great entertainment 👏👏👏
Keep up the production! 😉
Love...love the Benny Hill tribute
It’s actually easier to learn on pavement, yes it’s harder on the tush if you fall but it’s way more stable an smooth.
Yeah, my friends all wanted to go on the pavement too, but with no padding and a brand new unscratched OneWheel that I'd just gotten the day before, I wasn't ready to hit the pavement yet. ;-) BTW, I've discovered that the living room carpet is a great place to practice tight maneuvers. It's smooth, and soft.
its also better to have more room to go faster because the rotational force of the wheel will help balance better, keeping it more stable
Why make it harder for new people starting on rough, uneven surfaces?
Damm i think ima have a difficult time on one of these. Just ordered one
I just sold mine cuz I fell (wasn't terrible) but scared me enough. Thing was too hard to learn
I learned to ride an electric unicycle (Ninebot One E+) about two years ago. I'm afraid of falling, but I never felt the need for a helmet or any protection (though my family lectures me all the time about that). With the skateboard, though it's easier to hop on it and go from the start, it's less stable for the rider. I started out straight away wearing a helmet and wrist guards. I have fallen a lot, and well, am also a bit afraid of the skateboard. The unicycle is different -- I never fell off of it while learning. Well, I stepped off, jumped off, etc., but I didn't hit the ground. The unicycle itself crashed several times. I think part of why it's much safer is that you're facing forward. When something goes wrong it's much easier to just step off and run it out if you have to. So yeah, I can relate. I'm much more likely to get injured on the skateboard, even fully padded up, than on the unicycle. But, I will say, the skateboard is a crazy amount of fun for off-roading!
Kermon Carter I went backwards. I learned one wheel then got a ninebot. I ride Kingsongs now.
Just ordered the XR, and have zero board experience. I'm 46, but not worried about falling because of a strong martial arts background. "Ground engagement" is something I have drilled into my kids heads. It takes a lot of fear out of "risky" activities, and has probably saved some bones. I got launched off my motorcycle when a car t-boned me... didn't get hurt. Not bragging (well, maybe a little), as much as encouraging everyone to learn to roll
Troy Edwards yeah I have a martial arts background. I’m a full instructor of Jeet Kune Do and an instructor in submission fighting under Frank Shamrock. I’ve avoided bad falls save for a few because of it. I had one that probably would have killed me if I wasn’t wearing a helmet. The board can be unpredictable in the beginning when you don’t know it. It also has a tendency, in the beginning, to take off like a rocket if you disengage the motor wrong. If you leave your front foot on the sensor and accidentally or through circumstance take off your back foot then it flies off into the distance.
My daughter is taking Aikido, and I told her to teach me how to fall/roll! I've got some practice with that from paragliding experience, but it wasn't much and I'm rusty. Yeah, definitely would save some pains! (And you're gonna love that board when it arrives!)
this toy is so great. i was a serious skateboarder 10 years ago. this would be absolute perfect in my life right now. better start saving. that XR aint gonna come cheap. have fun with it and drive safe.
Jesper Lennert u don't need to save money any more u can get it on payments on the website I seen it it was like 17 or 18 and cash and then or I think it was 89 per month I believe no I can actually afford to get one haha 89 bucks a month that's great
Thanks for this💪
golden feedbag... gross. lol great video otherwise
