- 1) Winter clothes require hats, gloves and, oddly enough, bags. A summer model would look out of place here.
There is no need to buy; you can sew a bag with your own hands from any quilted jacket that is not worn. Bologna and raincoat fabric are excellent materials for this.
As with things, there are many options. The simplest style can be played up and sewn as if it were a complex model.
How to sew:
The size turned out as we went along.
First of all, I cut the jacket into pieces at the seams.
The front part of the bag will consist of the front shelves of the jacket, there are already pockets with zippers, which is very important, you can put various little things here - keys, a handkerchief, headphones... The fabric is already quilted and this makes the work easier.
I stitched the shelves in the middle.
I cut out a rectangle from the back and attached it to the front of the bag.
For the back part I used a sleeve and attached it to the sewn fabric. The stitch turned out in a different direction.
I’ve trimmed everything, the main part of the bag is ready.
I folded it in half and sewed the side seams. At the same time, I left 1.5 cm open holes on both sides on top, from which the cords will then come out.
I stitched the corners at the bottom and trimmed them.
I made the handles from black raincoat fabric, the length is arbitrary. I stitched them at a distance of 20 cm from each other.
I sewed a lining to fit the size of the bag, leaving room in the seam for turning inside out.
I placed the bag in the lining with the right sides facing in and stitched along the edge.
I turned the product inside out and stitched the seam on the lining.
I made two parallel lines on top for the drawstring. Using a pin, thread a cord through one hole in the drawstring; it goes in and out in one hole.
I put another cord into another hole. If you pull the cords on both sides, the bag tightens.
You can use it.
2) I have a men's jacket that is almost new, but it quickly faded on the shoulders and sleeves. It hangs in the closet and just takes up space. I will use it to sew a bag.
At the same time, you don’t have to spend a penny on sewing it.
To start sewing, it’s worth assessing what you’re dealing with. To do this, you need to rip off the lining, cut off the sleeves, rip out the side and shoulder seams, smooth out these pieces and only then make a pattern.
Sometimes a style is born along the way. The size of the bag is as large as the jacket allows. This fabric is good because the padding polyester is already stitched and thanks to this the shape of the product is preserved.
As planned, I want to make it without a zipper, with ties inside.
Stages of work:
1) I cut off the bottom of the jacket at a distance of 47 cm. The pockets always remain as an additional element, everything is already stitched and decorated, there are two places for storage.
All uneven seams were ripped out, straightened and stitched again.
2) I cut out strips for the handles from the sleeve and stitched them along the edges. When finished, they turned out to be 4 cm. I sewed them to the canvas.
3) I cut out strips from the sleeves, 9 cm wide. I sewed them to the bag, thereby lengthening it.
4) Connected the front and back parts and stitched. I made cuts at the corners for the width of the bag.
I cut out strips of raincoat fabric for the wrong side and stitched them together.
5) I sewed them together this way.
6) Connected the front part of the bag and the front part of the lining. I made a connecting stitch.
In order to turn the lining inside out in one place. After that I sewed up the hole.
7) Inserted the cord.
The bag is ready!
3) If you have old jackets in good condition at home that you don’t want to throw away, then this is a reason to sew something new for yourself. Today I decided to sew a cute handbag.
Stages of work:
1) First, the jacket must be torn into pieces or cut along all the seams. Remove the lining and remove the zipper.
2) The front part is sewn in the middle. The pockets stay in place and are needed for storing small items. Usually two rectangles for the bag are cut out from the back and front.
Today I have a white Bolognese jacket with padding polyester. This material is just right for this, it holds its shape well, does not allow moisture to pass through, is very light, and this is important so as not to carry excess weight.
A pattern is also not needed.
3) I cut out two rectangular pieces from the fabric, as far as the parts of the jacket allow.
4) I sewed a zipper between the cut pieces.
5) I cut two strips for the handles from the sleeve. I folded them and stitched them. The length of the handles is arbitrary.
6) I turned the handles out and made finishing stitches along the edges.
7) I attached the handles to the bag. For decoration I took pieces of white leather. To ensure that the foot glides well, it is better to place a piece of paper on top of the leather.
8) Now I stitched the bag on three sides from
