I've always admired all the young ladies who never remarried after the death of their husband. I'm sure it was hard but they show a great deal of commitment and love to their kids. I'm glad this story had a sliver lining at the end for her. She truly deserves the best.
I feel like there's two sides to every story. She sounds a bit manipulative and narssacist in the way the story was told. Like "pity me" with all these sad stories. I don't think daughters in law would act out due to something so petty. My grandma basically did the same thing to my mom where she'd make up things to make it seem worst/more sad than it really is even when my mom was kindly just turning her down. Thus why I keep trying so hard to love my very old MIL, even tho she purposely tries to villianize me (and then feigned innocence... "I didn't do that", "I don't know", "oh, im old, that's why", etc) to her son, my husband. Of course, each time I prove her accusations wrong or untrue and i ask her to provide facts of why she would say that or do that.... long story. But yes. Thus why I keep trying to love her and speak words of life into her, even tho she lives in the 1940s, 50s, 60s era and expect me to follow her lead. We can only love them as they are and keep trying. I feel like there's two sides to every story. She sounds a bit manipulative and narssacist in the way the story was told. Like "pity me" with all these sad stories. I don't think daughters in law would act out due to something so petty. My grandma basically did the same thing to my mom where she'd make up things to make it seem worst/more sad than it really is even when my mom was kindly just turning her down. It got to the point where my mom just stopped talking to her all together and my grandma took it as "oh she don't love me," type of bull. Like, hold up OG you we're mean to my mom first for her to stop talking to you altogether. The reason she stopped calling you to come eat. The reason she avoided being home when you're around and the reason my parents decided to move out.

Thus why I keep trying so hard to love my very old MIL, even tho she purposely tries to villianize me (and then feigned innocence... "I didn't do that", "I don't know", "oh, im old, that's why", etc) to her son, my husband.
