We had an early start to our week. Sunday after supper we picked corn and cucumbers, its not something that happens often but, it was supposed to rain on Monday (which it did) and the veggies were ready to be canned and freezed.

Giselle, thank you for opening yourself up to the world and letting everyone see that Hutterites are no different then anyone else really. I live in Alberta and have 3 colonies near me and have had the experience of meeting various members of the colonies. It's people like you that will change the world and reduce prejudice for everyone.

I haven't been able to attend my place of worship since March last year because of this situation as my grandson is strictly quarantined. I miss my church family dreadfully. I am planning on stopping by our citadel next Sunday to drop off Christmas cakes for my friends there and cards.

What a beautiful video! You must have used a camera this time? The colors of the produce against the deep blue sky were stunning. God's Providence. Lots of hard work! I would think there is a lot of pressure to get the harvest in before bad weather ruins the crop. I admire your lifestyle and dedication. Good example for "the world", that includes me!
I love you blogs and look forward to them. About the cougar, remember, they are very skilled hunters. Try not to follow a routine. They are well known stalkers and will time your activity. Thanks for the helpful tips...I noticed the past couple days on our walks Kona was acting strange, it didn't register what it could be until we were told it had been spotted. 🤭
@@gisellewaldner9406 Smart Kona can sense a predator for miles! Pay close attention and turn around when she alerts to anything or acts unusual.
@@gisellewaldner9406 wow, that is scary. Please keep a close eye out when walking by yourself.
Make noise to scare a couger away and of course Kona will guard and alert you , no problem. I grew up in the north and there were many predators but they are rarely an issue.

Thanks for the reminder of the devotional you are reading as I wanted to look it up and forgot to last time you mentioned it. It’s available on audible so I can listen to it rather than trying to find a hard copy. I prefer real books but often have to buy and wait for them to arrive from overseas which can take months!

Another beautifully done video Giselle. You really have a talent and I'm happy you share it with us. Kona is so sweet and little Hannah is a gem! You made me remember something from years ago when I got back late from a long trip. The next day was garbage day so I wanted to take it out before I went to bed. I grabbed the bag and opened the front door. To my horror there was a cougar sitting on the hood of my car, facing me, not 10 feet away. We startled each other pretty badly as it immediately crouched and hissed at me. I slammed the door and worried myself sick it was going to find a way in. It didn't of course and trackers came out the next morning. They found tracks of 2 cougars all through the neighbourhood but it was too dry to follow them once they got into the bush. A very scary experience!

The corn is gorgeous!!! I just clean, wash and paper towel dry ours bag and freeze till needed. I love cooking it in January when it is cold and the snow is everywhere makes me smile because it a taste of summer. Great video, I enjoyed watching all the havesting. I must say I miss when you do cooking week. Do you do a big celebration after all the harvesting is done? Be safe and if you do go for a walk make a lot of noise as you walk and always go in a group.

I am in northern-ish Minnesota. We rarely see them in the summer months but come winter we see their tracks . Black bears on the other hand are everywhere.

Chokecherry jam is wonderful. So is chokecherry syrup for pancakes/waffles or ice cream. We make some every summer and I LOVE those tart little berries.

Doors being open slightly triggers my mild ocd. I developed it bc of my husky. Ive had her 11yrs and she’s still an escape artist. I remind myself that others don’t have that problem but it’s still mind blowing. Getting our rescue has helped a lot too bc she LISTENS 😳 even with no formal training like we gave our husky. She behaves like your baby, it’s awesome!

Great video Gisele I got back from a mini vacation my daughter surprised me after radiation therapy on Aug 13 at the Marmalade Motel on the Eastern Shore here in Nova Scotia it was my 9 th treatment Friday and a long two weeks we both needed that seaside stay by the ocean it was beautiful and food we had excellent

A cougar! How interesting, I knew their had to be some apex predators about. They have a very large range. Thats the one that was spotted. They are always around all over North America. People just rarely see them… more likely to hear them or see their spore. Your Grandfather is wise and it is just passing through. Love your video’s and the garden. You playing on the phone made me laugh, so like my own kids. hahaha

I live in Northern BC and a friend from church and myself went blackberry picking we chatted away while picking and next thing you know our buckets were full of black berries it was so much fun then we went and picked peas aswell.
