- I visited Hannes Grossmann in his studio and we spent a whole afternoon filming this episode. We touched on so many topics such as composing with drums, arrangements, personality and the improvements he made during all the projects he was involved in.
"Amateurs wait for inspiration. Professionals just work." Brilliant.
yeah that a straight shot of the truth.
I think this is true but I also think if one considers the greatest hit records of all time, the most memorable songs and artists. If we think of when they did their best work, their prime. I bet more often than not it correlates to when they were the most inspired and passionate about what they were doing.
Drumtalk really knows how to interview.
thanks a lot! really enjoyed reading your comment :-)
His blasting is just insane. I've been trying to learn push pull for fast songs, because many of the 300bpm guys seem to use it, but at least for me it just lacks power. Just like Hannes said in his hand technique video, it sounds pretty strange to switch from loud skanks to quiet blasts, and he seems like one of the rare extreme metal drummers who actually avoid that.
He has matured so much as a professional over these last years. I love it.
I though exactly the same :)
A very good drummer his work on the Blotted Science Album... Perfection Excellent interview
"a ride cymbal, huh.... what's next? a cowbell?"
made my day
One of my favorite drummers/musicians!
Drumtalk is my best source of interviews. I don't know but you gather great drummers who talks very open and honest, not some bullshit for publicity - just to the topic. Great +1 for the "...something" on screen - it's superb!
thanks a lot for your comment! I always try to get a good vibe going -- the atmosphere is so important for good and inspiring answers
I agree i love this . I wish they would do inferno
His new album The Crypts of Sleep is awesome.

He brings up some excellent concepts. Very interesting.
How aren't there more views? Jeez people!
Really interesting video!
I could listen to him talking all day. Lucid, articulate, insightful. Unlike so many musicians who just babble and talk bullshit.
Amazing chat
Interesting interview! :D
I agree with this man 100%!

I'm not a drummer . But i love this channel
Thanks mate! you don't have to drum to have a good taste =D

He sure is a big man (gross man...) in the world of metal!
Yes! :'D

thank you Nirmal!
Do all drummers talk in syncopated rythems ?
Your an outstanding Drummer 10 outta 10 Hannes .
Would you join me out on skinwalker ranch? If we were given permission from the trible ritals and we would try to open porthole maybe and appease the spirts with rhythm.
Hannes “handjobs are gross man “Grossman ! He is on of the best and most creative in the world
Handies are lit tho
This guy is a fucking beast!
It's not lost on me that the title doesn't include obscura
He is a beast
for my opinion the best extreme drummer
kkk drums i think there are more unbelievable drummer like jamie st merat, elliot hoffman, the dude of (deathspell omega)
those are crazy good drummers, but i think Hannes is more versatile and better songwriter which gives him the edge
kevin paradis and romain goulon are insanely good too
i understand what you’re saying. He’s proven that he can write more than death metal drums.
we need to see virgil on here
MY FRIEND EGOR ERSHOV DOESNT LIKE RIDE CYMBALS EITHER ITS WEIRD BUT INTERESTING HAHA
I didn't know Ron was that way too
James Peterson imagine what they're thinking during beyond creation songs
DUDE RIGHT THO!??!?! Fuck. Or like certain Suffocation riffs ;w;
Funny how he mispronounced his own name in the beginning because he was speaking English :D
Anyway, great interview!
Yeah that's how he always says it in videos. I don't speak German so I don't know the difference, never thought anything of it.
well i would also say däivid krotscheid if i would be interwiewed by someone if i have to speak englisch
Where the fuck is the new Blotted Science album? It was supposed to be released in 2015?
