Hi from across the pond Wales. UK,
lovely little project and just to mention, although the pegs aren't what you would want to use now, got to apricate the thought that went in to them
imagine flying across the plains over the bumps standing up and the std pegs bending or worse snapping, one serious rider whoever originally owned it, Jealous welshman, I am 62 now but grew up watching on any Sunday, then speedwaying my pushbike ever more.
    thanks from mart Morgan

What a score! A real time capsule.Looks like a low-time engine. Those Ceriani and the Rickman hub take about 30 lbs. off the front end!
Funny that there was no oil at all in the gearbox. Cross-head screws on the timing cover look original and unmolsested. Yeah, definitely get rid of those pegs.
The 500s are my favorite Triumphs. I've taken my stock Daytona out to the dez camping, power sliding it on the fire roads, etc. The stock Triumph frames handle really well.

You should always split the cases and clean out the crank. They are all full and will cause your bottom end to tie up.

Absolutely true! Especially since it's been sitting so long. I would check the sludge trap on any of these bikes that have been sitting for five years, let alone almost 50.

@@ant4812I was a Mechanic at a Triumph dealership back in the 80s and I did mostly British bike repair. Every sludge trap I pulled was full. Every one! and that was over 40 years ago. None of them have gotten better since then.

Good looking start to a SLED! My advice though.. If you buy a new chain, change the sprockets.. It will save you some headache later. Ask me how I know!
