I lived in Taipei and traveled Taitung for only 7 days so I’m not an expert on Taitung! So please keep that on mind. But from my 7days in Taitung experience, I think living near Taitung art village is convenient for living! Many shopping places, parks and restaurants. However the rent might be high since it’s a popular area in Taitung. We stayed at a hotel near the art village and it was just like living in Taipei. However, the big difference is that you get to travel those small villages and go see the beautiful ocean just by hopping on to the Taiwan railway train!
