I remember, as a child, watching hill-climbing with the Austin Gypsy, that often featured on Saturday BBC sports. When a little older we ran old motor bikes in fields. The procession of ladies really evoked what the event meant for attenders. When the blue sports Austin had to be worked on and encouraged to run with elan, gave me a strong historical sense of the time elapsed since its heyday; the wonder of its origins, the fragility of its preservation. Good of you to take the rest of us on your trip.
Thanks Colin, the one thing that I couldn't reproduce was the smell of Castrol R, the essence of vintage motoring. And as for Austin Gypsies - I had forgotten them - I used to go to trials at Rover Solihull with dad in his Mk1 Landie, there;s something far more attractive in these grass roots sports that you can get up close and personal with.
Yes, there's virtually nothing in common other than that they ended up in the same team, the Jamieson twin cam's had no components that I can find in common with the Austin 7 at all!
Excellent video thanks for taking us Peter and the guided tour 👍👍👍
Thanks Len, it was a very special week.

The side valve racing Austins works cars used an entirely different engine, a special design by Jamieson.
