  • @Ember_Prime
    @Ember_Prime 4 місяці тому

    So here’s a little thing I’ve learned from my time in vocals:
    Basses tend to have the widest vocal ranges overall when it comes to what they can pull from. Because basses have more vocal cord, and higher frequencies are made by stretching vocal cords and vibrating them at higher frequencies, basses are able to relax their vocal cords or use alternate techniques to produce significantly lower notes as well as stretch the vocal cords to produce significantly higher notes than their chest voice ordinarily could produce.
    I am a basso cantante (lyric bass) with a chest range of A1 to roughly C4, but my range is strongest in my middle and high register (about F#2 to A3 is my strong area) but I can extend my voice down to about G0 with vocal fry and up to B5 with falsetto/masque.

    the way you get a voice this deep, or at least one of the ways, is to do throat sit ups. get into position to do a sit up, but only raise you head up and down. this will strengthen your throat muscles and can increase your vocal range. not your average pitch, but the range you can achieve.

      With some training, we can all learn to control our lower register a bit better. But there will be a limit that is dictated by your anatomy. However, there is a technique you can learn that can extend your lower notes significantly - about an octave. It's called subharmonics. But even that hits an anatomy limit. I don't think Geoff uses subharmonics in this clip except for that first "step aside". That low Ab at the end (and elsewhere) is part of Geoff's natural range.
