I hail from a family of farmers and physicians. Inexpensive eye protection is a must. Seen quite a few visually impaired farmers that learned the hard way. Most memorable quote “I didn’t see it coming!“
Some days are like this and then there are super great days. But days like this make you appreciate the other days when they come. Hang in there. It will get better!👍❤️🙏
Praying for Wes, hope he feels better soon. If we didn’t have issues with equipment during harvest then it just wouldn’t be right. Seems that is the way things go, everything wants to break right at the start of harvesting. But I know Lawrence will get it fixed and up and running.

The Corn head should have been unhooked from the combine when harvest was done. My grandfather never put the combine up for the winter with head on it.

If the barley is wet it could mean the bin roof is leaking a good place to start before you use it again
Merdie! Take my advice and go buy a couple of header carts. I own a gleaner f2 and we fought for the first four or five years with that thing every time we went to change a head. I went and bought one and built another one my corn had sit outside tarped my heater carts move about 50 ft twice a year for each switch and I'm telling you it makes life so much easier. Take my advice just buy a couple header cards. I feel that the taken a lot more of the danger out of the equation means the most, and I don't feel Oliver miss the money I spent on him just because of the safer way of handling them

I would invest in a vibrater for your bins.you only need one. Put bracke ts on each bin and move vibrater from bin to bin. Like they use to unload train rail cars.

I think every combine guy was sending the thought "the snouts need raised for the feeder house to come loose"
You want the angle so the bottom separates apart from the feeder house a little bit before the top does. They finally figured it out. He would have really had fun putting it back on with the back of the head too high.

you need a chain ladder! Years ago, I worked at an Iron Foundry and I was on the Cupola (furnace) crew, we had a chain ladder that hooked over the edge of the cupola and it just run down the side, and you started down inside, one arm thru the chain, and the outer hand you had a jackhammer, and we had to chisel out the bad spots and reline it!

Bojangles has had a lot of distribution issues here in the Lynchburg area.
We use a rubber hammer to get feed off the sides of our feed bins.
Meredith, when you haven't used a piece of equipment in a while sometime you forget steps. We know because the same thing happens here on our farm.

Wesley, you pay attention and "Learn" everything Lawrence teaches you... even hay knots, and you will find that that knowledge will put you far ahead of your peers as your life evolves. I use things my Vo-Ag teacher taught us in high school EVERY DAY, some 50+ years later.
But please dont learn his constant disregard for basic safety.
