Why it taken that long, I think as a Society we have gotten pass that type of discrimination because that’s exactly what it’s, you can’t denied a kid entry to a educational institution based on their hair style.
This individual that was in charge shouldn’t alone to lead an institution, such as a school going forward, and if Jamaica government didn’t have clear law that make it clear that this type of behaviour isn’t acceptable, well bad on the government of Jamaican.

What happens to "every child can learn every child must learn" isnt this for every Jamaican child words cannot explain how I feel about our justice system this is so sad.I am happy that the childs' parents spoke out about it. We must embrace our natural beauty... they sell the image of rasta but not embrace them where os the sense in that.

Its funny how one court say the school was right and another said it's wrong. Isn't it the same law book they use. Or maybe it's about the system causing we the people to spend more money.

So many things need to change for Jamaica to move forward. Me slowly a lose hope.
Coming from slavery, I think our people would understand that your outer appearance nuh matter. Your character is more important.
When are we going to start treating each other better?
Lets forget about the lil trivial things, and focus on what's important.

As a child going to school in the 80s, I personally witnessed the principal turning back kids with locs. 😢 They were told they couldn't attend school, because they had lice. We eventually caught lice, but it wasn't from the rastas, it was from the so called bald heads. Even as a teacher in Jamaica, I was told I couldnt loc my hair, as the students may find it offensive. There is so much that needs to be 'fixed' in Jamaica. What's 'sauce for the goose, is not necessarily sauce for the gander.'

    • @michael23224

Can't relate to the lice thing but suppose a lot of that went on during that time.

Come on between 2000 and 2013 or 2014 the Director for Region 6 had her hair in locks. So that school falls in that region. The Principal was in my opinion a racist.

Her right to education would have been violated if ahe was not allowed to go to school because of her hair also if they discrimated against her because the entire school would have most likely known of her situation.
