I loved staying at Riverside back in '96 when it was Dixie Landings.
Riverside is literally my fav resort of all the Disney hotels, I like it even better than the deluxe resorts, it is so nice being able to walk around between the two resorts of french quarter and port orleans!
French Quarter is our favorite resort to stay when we go to Disney. Oh big fan of the beignets too!

Nate, I live in Louisiana and honestly real gumbo does not look like the gumbo you had at Universal or at Port Orleans! I wish I could cook some real Louisiana food for you! Coming to Disney in a few weeks for our Mardi Gras vacation and hope we get to see you!
Absolutely - gumbo shouldn't stay in place when you tilt the bowl! I made an amazing one for Christmas.

French Quarter is my favorite -- it's so small and chill. Even my kiddo likes it because she loves the big slide in the pool. A little under 7 weeks and I'll be back there!!
My wife and I are watching the video and YES the building look like they belong in New Orleans. We live on the north side of the lake and I use to work for the City of New Orleans.
Notes: that gumbo has the consistency of red beans and rice. Gumbo is supposed to be runnier. The jambalaya is too red/orange but looks good. Since you were a cook, I’m bringing you some local ingredients.

I have stayed at all the moderate resorts. By far, the French Quarter is the best. It is pretty compact and if you don't like walking all over, this is your best bet. You can get off of the resort bus, and the lounge is right there. Great for a late night drink. The pool isn't that big, but it is fun and had a pool bar. Unfortunately, I won't be going back to Disney until the post Bob Paycheck era.
You do a really good job on every video. I’m taking my kids and their mother to riverside and staying in the royal rooms and bring her dog. Can’t wait till April.

Stay at this resort the week before Christmas. I loved how quiet and clean the resort was. The quick service menu was pretty good also especially breakfast

You're my favorite Disney travel Channel. I've been going to the parks since about 1979. I have so many wonderful memories of all the parks throughout the years. This is the only resort I haven't stayed at yet. Thank you for this AWESOME tour and food reviews.

I love eating the Mickey beignets. They are so good, those were the first beignet I have ever eaten. The Scat Cat looks like a very chill place, I would enjoy just going there and hanging out and listening to the music.
We agree, this is one beautiful resort with some awesome food.

I think Fulton’s is the best gift shop of any resort. I’d never been in there and was shocked how big it was and how much unique merch they had.

Just stayed here for the 2nd time this past November! We pretty much had the Beignets every other morning!
The one who finds the Baby in the King Cake is responsible for bringing the King Cake next Mardi Gras season. 📿
EDIT - Forgot this tip. Beignet eating tips from a Louisiana girl. Make sure when you go in to take a bite that you are not breathing. Breathing in or out will cause a powdered sugar dust storm. Which way you are breathing depends on where it goes. If you’re breathing in your gonna get powdered sugar all up your nose and if you’re breathing out anybody who’s in front of you will get covered. In addition, you need a cup of chicory coffee to go with your beignets.

Stayed at Riverside for my birthday last month with my Mom and LOVED it. Took the boat over to FQ mix the gumbo and jumblaya as you suggested in a previous riverside video (amazing) and Mickey beignets! Was the best and I’d love to go back asap ❤️❤️ great video!!!
My wife & I love your videos, your enthusiasm & positivity is great! We’re from New Orleans & we actually love Port Orleans French Quarter. While the jambalaya looks pretty good, that gumbo doesn’t actually look like true gumbo. Way too thick & dark. We’re coming out in May & would love to bring you some true New Orleans gumbo! Keep up the good work!
You always have such a great group of friends, I wish I had friends that loved Disney too ! Staying at riverside in may and I enjoyed seeing what they have to offer around the property
New Orleans resident! We’ll be going to Port Orleans in September so this helps me plan my vacation!
If you can, find out which bakery they got that king cake from. Also, the baby means you’re responsible for buying the next king cake! That’s the tradition.
If you liked that food I think you would love the gumbo and jambalaya from Louisiana I can tell you gumbo is not supposed to be that thick. Lol

we had missed parts. We live in Louisiana and would like to show you “REAL” gumbo, jambalaya and beignets. We are annual pass holders and visit Disney frequently throughout the year. Just had a trip at the Boardwalk Valentines week. Maybe one day we can meet up on one of our trips and share the true taste of New Orleans. We really enjoy your videos. Love staying at Port Orleans very quiet resort, romantic too.
Fishing is pretty good but a bit expensive ( 15$) half hour..

The French Quarter is my favorite moderate resort. We have stayed there many times before moving here. Now we live in Windermere and take the short drive there just to eat in the food court and enjoy some beignets at Scats. We also take the walk over to Riverside just for the pretty walk❤️

We just returned from our trip and I followed your good advice to hang out in the Disney Springs market, then ferried to Port Orleans French quarter for boozy beignets! My kids loved that playground and watching the horse drawn carriages pass by. In fact, I know you said it was adult oriented but I found it to be super kid oriented as well. I would say it’s good for families who like a party atmosphere. If you don’t want to be around many kids, Port Orleans is not your spot.
I stayed few times French Quarter side we did try Riverside once...but for me n my Mom we favored French Quarter side.....our balcony room faced over Main pool King Neptune..we loved the quiet quaint atmosphere there...close to main lobby...buses n boat to Disney Springs...we did the horse carriage ride cpl times for Mom's birthday Halloween...week or Christmas time...thru years. .went all over to Riverside along the river n back at sunset time...she loved it...great memories Nate...also loved the beignets too..the ladies would ring the bell when they were ready to buy... all day...made fresh daily..

This is the dream resort for me. I want to go there soooo bad
Literally missed seeing you at the French Quarter by a few hours. We spent an entire week there and had the Gumbo and Jambalaya. The Beignet Sundae was the best, three beignets and a lot of ice cream plus whipped cream and chocolate sauce for a measley eight and a half bucks.
One year when I stayed at Riverside I ended up doing the horse drawn carriage ride it was so nice and quiet and beautiful I do recommend if anybody that stays at the port Orleans riverside or French Quarter take advantage of this.
Whoever gets the baby from the king cake has to buy the next cake
