I love these conversations that talk about issues not strictly limited to football but can be applied everyone's career/life. Love that Florio and McCourty say that it's ok if you don't want to be the best at something - there is more to life than one's job, while also mentioning that that might not sit well with owners, fans, in the case of professional sports although some bosses might be the same way too

    • @beaujac311

He never said that he didn't want to be the best. He said that he is very passionate about what he does and it is really important to him. But he doesn't have this chip on his shoulder or can't manufacture the proverbial chip. Barry Sanders was a great player but you can say that he didn't do any histrionics to show how passionate he was. He was a guy didn't show emotions. That's all that Trevor is saying. They would look out of place trying to be that way.

Now that he is in the NFL, and has done a good bit of losing, I'm sure he has plenty of self-motivation to improve the situation. To judge him for not having a chip on his shoulder when he had never needed one is misjudging the young man, IMO.

Meh. An inexperienced kid, years ago, simply says there is more to life than a game and analysts want to toss a kid on the trash heap? I don't buy it. While it is fair to say Trevor doesn't have the single minded focus to be the greatest of all time that doesn't mean he can't match the feat of a Dilfer or a Johnson. And look at the family life of Brady now. Not good. The kid has a right to decide what his priorities will be. The game will filter out those who need to look elsewhere. Given what Sam Darnold is doing in Minnesota it would,be foolish to write Trevor off because he, as an inexperienced kid, said something that die hard fans who have never played will judge all too harshly. 🙄

Its sunk cost fallacy. The Jags are never going to lure a good QB it's very hard to pick winners out the draft so they double down on the slightest bit of hope.

Trevor Lawrence does not come across as a NFL QB. He comes across as a hair model or a 🏄‍♂️ dude.
Thought this when he was drafted.

No QB 6'6 or taller has ever had success in the NFL. Justin Herbert, injured often, Brock Osweiller - Bust, Paxton Lynch - Bust and honestly, other than a wildcard birth on a 9-8 record (He threw 5 int's during those playoffs) Trevor Lawrence is looking more like a bust everyday. Only categories he has ever lead is interceptions (2021) and fumbles lost (2022 and 2023)

We're all not wired the same way. Now if he's unmotivated then that's a different story but these guys are like the inquirer only sports. Always reaching.

I loved McCourty as a player. But as an analyst. He’s just boring. His voice and cadence is boring. And to make it worse, he takes foreverrrr to get his point across and it’s never even that great of a point. He somehow finds a way to drag the simplest statement out into 5 literal minutes. It’s like he doesn’t know how to put a bow on a speech

Not sure what your race is but this has been the case since the very start, all Trevor had to do to get the big bag was to show enough glimpses to the front office to justify why they picked him first in the draft...it also helps that they media 4 yrs later still refer to him as a generational talent
