Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway, referred to as Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway, also known as Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway, is an expressway connecting Xiamen City, Fujian Province, and Chengdu City, Sichuan Province in China. The sixteenth east-west horizontal main line in the "horizontal" network.
Construction of the Xiamen-Chongqing Expressway started in September 1990 (the Chengdu-Longchang section of the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway), and was opened to traffic on October 26, 2017 (the last completed section was the Guilin-Sanjiang Expressway).
The Xiamen-Rongguan Expressway starts from Shanhou Village, Jiaosong Road, Haicang District, Xiamen City, Fujian Province in the east, and ends at Chengyu Interchange, Yinghui Road, Chenghua District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province in the west. The total length of the line is 2,295 kilometers, and the design speed is 80-120 kilometers per hour.

Absolutely stunning long roadtrip, you really made my last 4-5 days, watching every km of it. The route is about 80% through mountainous terrain, with many tunnels and viaducts. Interesting that the expressway makes quite a detour between Xiamen and Chengdu, going south than the direct line between the 2 cities. Back in 1993, China published a National Highway Plan, one of the planned highways is from Xiamen to Kunming (a city in southwest China). In the original plan, the route goes southwest.
Then in 2005, a new National Expressway Plan came out, and the highway was upgraded to an expressway, but the endpoint was changed to Chengdu, and the expressway plan was to keep the original route for the most part, to connect a lot of smaller cities and regional areas.

thanks for the comment. I reckon this is not a quite busy highway, connecting southwest to the southeast. Roads in the east region have a higher frequence of maintenance, and is close to the condition like I90 or I80. I have lived in OH and NY before. Those are my most familiar highways I can think of.😂

This expressway gives me a vibes on what will be the expressway will look like passing through Cordillera Mountains, or Sierra Madre Mountains, or Dalton Pass mountains in the Philippines, one example of this is building Cordillera Mountain Expressway that connects TPLEX - Rosario, to Baguio, then, beyond Baguio, it goes a lots of tunnels, and bridges passing through mountains between Baguio City, Buguias, and Bontoc-Sagada, at Bontoc Interchange, there will be another Expressway, this time goes through Banaue Rice Terraces, before exiting at the plains of Cagayan Valley, and this future Scenic Mountain Expressway with G76 expressway vibes, will end at boundary between Ilocos, and Cagayan Valley Region.

There are also 5 million kilometers of national, provincial, county, and village roads, all of which are asphalt roads and cement roads. There are also 42,000 kilometers of high-speed rail (200-350 kilometers per hour), and 150,000 kilometers of ordinary-speed trains (100-160 kilometers per hour). There are 51 cities with subway systems, with a total operating mileage of 10,000 kilometers, and new subway systems and high -speed rail continue to be built.

Gdybym tego nie zobaczył (choćby na filmie) nigdy bym nie uwierzył, że to w ogóle możliwe! Liczba tuneli, wiaduktów i mostów trudna do policzenia - to bez wątpienia wiedzą budowniczowie drogi, użytkownicy raczej nie są w stanie ich policzyć. Jakość drogi, nawierzchni wręcz budzi szacunek, idealnie gładki asfalt, żadnych nierówności, pęknięć nawierzchni. Auto wręcz sunie jak po niewyobrażalnej tafli szkła, żadnych wibracji, żadnego kołysania, żadnych wstrząsów. Nawet dylatacje zaledwie tylko słychać. Oznakowanie idealne, choć drogowskazów nie jestem w stanie odczytać, to jednak widać, że są i informują o każdym pasie ruchu osobno!. Oznakowanie poziome bez najmniejszych uwag - perfekcja! Droga DOSKONALE bezkolizyjna, system ostrzeżeń budzi zachwyt! Widać dużą dbałość o bezpieczeństwo jazdy.
Jeśli coś budzi moje zdziwienie to graniczenie prędkości do 80 km/h - tą drogą można bezpiecznie jechać znacznie szybciej! Widać Chińczycy mają swoje wyobrażenie o bezpiecznej prędkości. I być może to właśnie oni mają rację...
Doprawdy: imponujące, wspaniałe dzieło chińskich inżynierów i budowniczych o skali niewyobrażalnej dla Europy!!!! Trasa liczona TYSIĄCAMI KILOMETRÓW na każdym zrobi piorunujące wrażenie, a ta droga jest, jak czytam w opisie, zaledwie jedną z WIELU!!!! To jest prawdziwa miara chińskiego postępu i rozwoju. Coś co chyba nie ma odpowiednika na świecie.

This is a long drive. It's 1306 miles. Similar to driving from South Florida to San Antonio, Texas. I drove from South Florida to Los Angeles California when I decided to travel out there. Took me 3 days because I wanted to enjoy the sites.
