@@Naleksuh It's not, it's in active development. Jon is just a very busy person (he's creating a programming language, a massive Sokoban game, this thing and "game 4"). And there is only one Jon.
@@Nors2Ka I said that 11 months ago, and no it is not cancelled. A while back he was livestreaming him using his UA-cam channel and in March of 2023 he uploaded an unlisted video called "Braid, Anniversary Edition" (yes, with a comma and not a colon)
My heart is pounding like crazy. I just reinstalled Braid and now THIS?! This is THE game of my life, I'm taking it's soundtrack everywhere I go, I have so many memories from playing it! I'll buy Nintendo Switch solely to be able to play it on the run. You can't imagine how happy I am that this is happenning. I wasn't even aware that I need it so much :D Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Jonathan Blow has his own times. In his indie era, since 2006 he has only released 2 games. Lucky are those who are not waiting for Miegakure to be released ^_^
He does stream regularly on twitch now, perhaps we can ask him to try it in his chat. Definitely be a funny turn of events if he gave it a long play through on stream xD
I am losing hope. "Early" next year didn't happen. Basically no announcements, no additional info, nothing. This game is truly awesome imho (I bought it for xbox 360 and pc long time ago) and would love to have it on my Switch... come on, guys! Throw us a bone here, ffs.
I am not a game developer, but this game is a 2D remastered version, and it should came out early 2021, can someone explain to me why it takes that much time to be released?!
I remember watching the trailer for this game when I was very young. I remember getting the game in a Humble Indie Bundle, and being confused and stumped by the puzzles. I remember reading online about what it was all supposed to mean. I remember reading the update blogs back when I was still in high school. I remember growing an appreciation for the game over the next 4 years. I have grown up with this game and I can't wait to see what's in store.
Man... I first got into Braid because of my surname, can you imagine that? In 2009, one of my colleagues told me winking: "You must play this, it's mandatory for you!" What a journey that single, silly moment started in my life: the game was an awesome piece of Art & Design, and made me discover all that I can about the creator. So, starting from that, Jon became one of my main professional and artistic models, an always glowing example. Can't wait!
Feels like coming home after 12 years of vagabonding, I literally held my breath the first time I saw this video. Thank you so much for bringing Braid back! Missed it dearly.
This is one of my favorite games of all time, hands down! Between the soundtrack, the art, the mood and the incredibly innovative and smart game mechanics, it's as good as it gets. And don't get me started what it was to experience that last level, reading all the tomes, and then finding the secret ones! The references to Trinity and Richard Rhodes' book weren't lost! Safely to say, it did leave a lasting impression! To me, this game is like a favorite book, one that you get back to every 2~3 years. I got this at launch, on the Summer of Arcade '08 for the Xbox360, after been blow away by the demo. I remember the *ridiculous* pricing controvesy (best summed in a Penny Arcade strip; search for 2008/08/08), and beating all sales records for a Xbox Arcade game. After completing the game, I got the speedrun achievement, and even went to collect all 8 stars. Now you're saying that it's getting a re-release?! Can't wait!!
I just discovered this, Braid is one of my favourite games and I'm now vey, very thrilled by such an announcement. Just make it so that when we revert to the old game the music also changes, this game is very emotional at times, emotions are unconsciously very much tied to music and sounds, more than anything else in games
that book is such a classic. Also, Tenet. I thought about Braid since the first trailer came out, now is the perfect... time to rediscover this. Wow. Maybe we can all learn how to time-invert the sh*t out of 2020
Seeing all the parts slide back in time in the first half of the trailer was surprisingly emotional. Made me think of some things that happened to me in the past years. I think I finally got what the game was about, at least for me.
Wow. Reminds me of feeling I had seeing for the first time a transparent game dev blog when I used to read the old blog on braid-game.com. I don't expect to be blown away like the first time but I expect the commentary is made to be poignant today. I absorbed as much of it as I could the first time, so if there's anything as relevant I will enjoy it.
How wonderful! I think I already own Braid 3 times (not sure because of bundles) and I can't wait to get this remaster. It's the game that first made me aware of indie games and start playing them almost exclusively.
I remember getting Braid in my first Humble Bundle (the third one ever) and then going to a live premier of Indie Game The Movie. But I never actually finished Braid... I’m gonna do that to prepare for the developer commentary!
I think that’s because macOS removed support for 32-bit software… And there were no 64-bit builds of Braid… Which is a shame, because from what I think you can lazily/easily cheat transitioning from 32-bit software into unoptimised 64-bit software… but maybe that’s buggy. At least when Braid eventually comes out, it will be built for modern systems, 64-bit and so forth.
Well, it just dawned on me that the announcement date coincides with the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima! That surely can't be a coincidence, given the Richard Rhodes' book references on the final (1.) level.....
This game captured me from the very moment the main character crossed the bridge with the artistic and beautiful look of the city lights in the background and the mesmerizing music in the background. This game is a work of art and I can't wait to play it again after 12 years! I just hope the commentary will shed some light on the story. Would be great to hear the game developers talk about the story.
@@xThuby Well, let me correct you. There is list of DRM free games on steam. Developer choses DRM verification methods wen publishes his game. Even if DRM have bean chosen it can be changed. Example Batman Batman Arkham Asylum DRM was removed. Of course this is only one example.
I like the puzzle idea, that's all. The vague and irrelevant story is dull and pointless, totally separate from the puzzles (except the nuclear thing and that's just guff anyway), the stars are more tedious than worthwhile (especially the one where you have to wait hours for a cloud to move, what's the point of that? I don't care how clever it pretends to be, it's just terrible gameplay) and it ends up re-using levels towards the end. Not very good, not even the debug mode was that great. It's all right though but other games with similar art styles surpass it.
I believe the term is “vapourware”. I’m not sure if it’s “unprofessional”, but it’s certainly an embarrassment. Year after year, George R.R. Martin continues to promise an eminent release of his next sequel “The Winds of Winter”, but now it’s been 11 years later now… It’s quite embarrassing for him. Perhaps deafening silence on a late delivery is better than a decade of false reassurances of an eminent release… although it’s not unreasonable to expect at least some explanation for not meeting the initially advertised release date; in such a case, there’s no need to predict a new launch date (and risk another unanticipated delay).
And it's Summer of 2022 now.
Come on, guys, complete radio silence for close to 2 years now? Have a heart.
There's been no news on updates, and the original tweet announcing it has been deleted. I hope it's not cancelled :(

I really hope we get a physical release (for Switch would be the best). That game deserves to be on our shelfs.
I like it, except for 1:55 where the old version looks more interesting.
Amazing Braid is such a brilliant game in every way. The artwork was awesome, can't wait to see it.
Wow what a cool remaster, I wonder when it'll be released
I wonder if we'd be having a rant from Blow about how lame silent cancelling is, if he wasn't doing it himself. He's such a smartass... in words.
It is the end of 2021. Will it be in the PS Store this year?
Is this still happening??????
I hope you release a version for latest MacOS, the old version on steam doesn't work on anything newer than 10.15

you gotta love vaporware :)
