I just watched Babyface's interview with Genius. He said he wrote this song for Kenny G album and Luther was supposed to sing it. Luther heard this song, he liked it, but didn't want to record it. Babyface felt disappointed LOL Kenny then asked Babyface to sing it. Tommy Motola heard it and said: "this is your record". Mariah also loved it and wanted to do the background vocal. I just watched Babyface's interview with Genius. He said he wrote this song for Kenny G album and Luther was supposed to sing it. Luther heard this song, he liked it, but didn't want to record it. Babyface felt disappointed LOL Kenny then asked Babyface to sing it. Tommy Motola heard it and said: "this is your record".
Mariah also loved it and wanted to do the background vocal.
Each song has its own destiny and Babyface was right to sing this. I love this song so much 💙
