I agree, the Q7 is not necessarily exciting or sporty. This is NOT the purpose of the car. It was created as a comfortable, quiet, luxurious vehicle. The Q8 was made for people who prefer a sportier drive, or even the smaller Q5. You can't tell people not to purchase a vehicle because it "isn't fun", when the purpose of the vehicle is geared toward comfort.
Yea I’m 27, and I’m looking to get a Q7, after owning a Lexus is350 I want a luxurious spacious vehicle, I’m 6’1 and just want something big , like real big and nice looking, I don’t want a truck though.

I just traded my 2016 MB GL450 for a 2018 Q7 Prestige…huge difference in quality of materials, ride and performance. The GL450 was unstable when going over any imperfections such as manhole covers…the car will dart a few inches to the side. Not something I expected in a Mercedes Benz with an air ride suspension. The MB has a plastic feeling throughout the interior, fit and finish is subpar and the entire interior creaks when pulling into a driveway or or over larger bumps, even at low speeds. The GL450 downshifts hard when slowing down, especially from 5th to 4th. The Q5 by comparison has a far more solid ride, firm but also forgiving over similar bumps and holds its ground when going over potholes or mancovers. No rattles, no creeks…just a nice ride. The interior feels like quality throughout. Seating is comfortable with heated and cooled seats and excellent positioning. The Bose stereo far out performs the Harmon Karden that is in the Mercedes. I’m the end, the 2018 Q7 feels like a nice luxury SUV and the Mercedes GL450 didn’t have the features or ride that my 2011 Acura MDX had with twice the miles. That was my first Mercedes…a major disappointment. I’m willing to give them another chance, but I’ll look much more closely next time before pulling the trigger…I owned the GL450 just 2 months before deciding it had to go. The GL45” is definitely a roomier car with better third row seating, but 2nd row seating in the Q7 includes reclining seats that almost lay to down…comfortable enough to sleep. The rear of the GL450 is long enough to run golf clubs fore and aft with the 3rd row reclined, where the Q5 would require you to put them in on an angle. A small price to pay even though that was initially important to me. Both cars had electric folding third row seats, the GL450 included electric folding second row where the Audi was manual, but easy to use…my thought is it’s less to break. I went to recline the second row seats in the GL450 a few days before trading it and the cheap plastic lever broke off in my hand…disappointing. Though there’s a two year difference between these cars, the Audi clearly is the winner…thinking about it, I prefer the 2011 Acura MDX I sold just before buying the Mercedes over the GL450…that’s just sad. The GL450 is a good looking SUV, but that’s about all it had going for it…and the interior was just disappointing across the board and looked like a 2009 car, not a 2016.
Parker, in this video I can not agree with you. Audi did an amazing job with this vehicle. Its not a exicing vehicle- because it is not its mission. This is a SUV, supposed to carry children to and from school, and in that regard it is amazinhly good. Its also better to drive than any other competitor, it does everything more than well!
Bro you was so wrong in this review..this suv is just perfect, so there are tons of reasons to buy it...you get the most pleasant ride , you get the towing capacity in case you need it (7700 pounds) ,you get the more than adequate acceleration, you get the refinement of the audi brand, you also get probably the best AWD system in the industry.
I have to disagree with most of your view points. Especially when we are talking about SUV. This car has that famous Quatro system and height that makes it a great car on off-road as well. If you watch serious tests off-road comparing the Q7 to other brands including the BMW X3, X5, Mercedes-Benz ML, GLE, GLC etc, Porsche Macan, and so on, the Q7 is a true winner out of all these cars. And putting the interior design to the top as well. I am more of a fan of the 1st gen Q7 as for the exterior but the interior looks much better here.
Okay... so you're driving a $90k version with the $4k luxury package and air suspension among a lot of other ultra nice options that aren't really necessary. At that price, the car comes with a lot of features that are "nice" but not really necessary. You can get a Q7 for $67k which has Quattro, the 3.0 supercharged engine, Virtual cockpit, surround view camera, google earth, full LED Headlights and more. At $67k, this is the nicest combination among its competitors. You can get an X5 with better performance but not quite as nice or spacious, and you can get a Mercedes but it's not quite as performance oriented. I think it's not fair to compare the top of the line car which has all the extras no one cares about. Most people go for the Premium Plus with Vision package or just a basic Prestige with HUD and everything else. That's the better value. Maybe that makes it a better competitor?
@7:38 "...Nothing about this SUV really wows me," says the tester who just lauded; the LED exterior lights, B&O sound-system, weight-loss (vs prior model), interior quietness, heated/cooled/massaging front seats, virtual-cockpit dash/maps, second-row room, etc. What exactly did you want from this full-sized luxury SUV that wasn't delivered? Sounds like a personal bias to me.
Bought my 2017 premium plus with winter package in 8/16 and absolutely love it. This SUV shines. This kids a goof. What does HE does he Drive day to day?
Most consumers who buy a Q7 are looking for high quality with understated elegance, not necessarily flashy. Performance is not a priority for the majority of Q7 buyers because it is an SUV. I suspect that most Q7 drivers will use it to haul their families and big box store purchases, not for qualifying times at the track. I suspect that most Audi buyers that want performance cars will buy one from the S line.
Wow Parker, i strongly disagree. as a huge audi fan and car enthusiast i think the new platform is amazing. i think you are overly harsh and one piece of plastic should not be the deciding factor. also, as an owner of the 2017 a4 and the q7 the park button is completely normal to me. you are simply not used to it so it feels weird (and i can understand that). i generally love your videos but this was just downright harsh and cruel to audi, the top german manufacturer. i hope you read this so that you can try and argue your opinion.
Insane S60 i love the a4. the dual clutch transmission is so fast. it shifts on a dime. it is the fastest car in its class. a whole second faster then the c300. the technology is also top of its class. they also just came out w a manual so im actually trading mine in for the 6 speed. so if u like manuals then defintely go for it
Let's see....quiet, comfortable, handles well and is quick relative to its size, spacious second row seating, plenty of cargo capacity, great tech and safety features, high quality interior...yep, it's a real dog in the luxury SUV class. You don't need the $6k upgrade leather or the $5k B&O sound system packages. The Prestige package interior is perfectly fine and the accompanying Bose sound system is very good, so you can get the Q7 well equipped with the air suspension/rear steering, cold weather package, and the adaptive cruise driver assistance package for around $73k. Not cheap, but well below $89k.
It goes to "Park" automatically when you turn it off. Actually you don't need to press that button a lot. Imo, the Q7 is a splendid SUV. The comfort is as good as in a premium saloon and the driving performance is very good regarding the weight of almost 2.2tons (7 seater version)
I'm very very pleased to say that I'm picking my new 2018 Q7 tomorrow morning. Parker, you got it right when you stated that the 2017 Q7 was a big deal, because it is, but you got it wrong with your negative comments. You're crying about the park button? Seriously? It's an awesome ride which doesn't go well with your review. Also Parker, it's a large luxury SUV and NOT meant to be like your Lamborghini. Get it right dude.
I bought one last year to replace my BMW F30 335d. Didn't like it originally but a year on, it's really grown on me. Good performance, fantastic ride, and loads of room. And for a big lump, the cornering is incredible. I don't have any plans to sell it any time soon, which is very unusual for me!
Reminds me how i was going to buy a 2016 red s1000rr for myself this summer but instead i'm planning to spend it at all for my dad's dream car on his birthday which is a ford kuga..
Anthony N your father should be proud of you and an early congrats. Just make sure he does not read your comment. lol. oh and instead of getting a 2016 s1000rr you will hopefully get a 2017. best of luck.
So drop the B&O stereo, night vision, and massage seats and you're down to $75k which is very reasonable for the segment. Or just get a nicely equipped one for the low $60s.
ya the SQ5 is going to be the great one! I loved the old Q5/Q7 when I drove them- but even in dynamic mode, on this new one, I titled my video "make dynamic mode, dynamic again" because it was just so numb, especially the electric steering.
DFWs Cars put it in dynamic and then switch to sport mode. The sport mode toggle on the Q7 is on the shifter. I noticed this too and then found the sport button and was like "oh, that's better"
After having ownership of a 2018 Q7 for almost a year as well as comparing the Q7 to other models and other prices, the Q7 is absolutely the best buy in it's class and far from boring. I find it rather 'disappointing' you'd even have the audacity to bash such a fine vehicle. compared to MDX, the XC90 and others the Q7 has proven best to drive, cheapest for the amount of features you get, accompanied by a gorgeous interior and exterior. If you think this vehicle is 'boring' and 'disappointing' then I'd hate to meet such a cynical person as yourself
I tested the Q7 and my first impression was excellent. Seat and the instrumemts and all knobs surround you perfectly. The gear shifter is like no other. Drives surprisingly well at highway speed, low cabin noise if any, and silky smooth engine. I took it for a second drive, and the enthusiasm started to go down hill. Good gear shifts up, however at low rolling speed, when you lift your foot off the throttle, you feel a kick form the transmission, consistently. Felt like one of those poorly built front wheel cars. The highly rated virtual cockpit, sounds much more than it actually is. All jt really does is shrink the diles amd epamd the map and visa versa. A huge, so what is what I had to say. And for that, you have to put up with constant glare of the screen lighting. The virtually cluster looks good for selling the car, not driving it. I felt the analogue dials should be considered the upgrade. Then the quality of material, superior to most cars but not the ones it is inteded to compete with, BMW amd Mercedes-Benz scream luxury and quality while Audi tries to convince you of value engineering. I did not get a chance to test the air suspension amd I hope it gives mkre comfortable ride as the standar one was a bit harsh. I owned two X5s and want to change to Audi so badly but, it seems not this time around. On second thought, I will take the Audi for a third test hoping it will grow on me and keep me away from the BMW magic spell.
I had very bad rattles on the Q7 from roof, 2nd row seats, and dashboard. The problems were ongoing and audi couldn't fix it. I ending up trading the car in for a Lexus
He praises the hell out of the Q7, then proceeds to tell you its not good. Whatever. And why do people complain about SUV not being sporty or quick? It's an SUV, people!! If you want sporty, get a sport sedan or an actual sports car, like an BMW M3, Toyota Supra, etc.
This winning punk would not know a great car if it ran him over. My Q7 drives like a sports car and can easily tow my 5000 pound boat. He gives it a great review then tells you not to buy the car. Get a prestige with air shocks and stay away from extra costs for the luxury package and the $5000 stereo for low $70,000 range. I drove all the competitors and the Q7 blows them away.
Its easy to find flaws in a luxury car when you live a luxury life style every day. I would be so happy to have a new audi q7, over my 2014 impala any day 😏
Park Button - You dont press it. When parking, press parking brake button. Then press start/stop button. Automatically puts in to park. Doesnt need fixed
So, if we "SHOULD NOT" buy a Q7 what do you recommend? The review was missing that big piece of information, I think you could have added content to show the usefulness to the demographic it's geared towards. The typical person driving this is going to have kids, use it to run errands and go to and from work. I don't necessarily think they will care about a using paddle shifters and how fast they can go. The plastic looking dash, yes, I can see where they could have improved that. The gear shift parking button, is personal preference, my S4 has it and I don't mind it at all. I personally have driven a Q7 and for what it's intended use is, it's a great SUV.
I like it a lot, but, I agree, a few better materials selections could have made it much nicer. For instance, I tested the Prestige level. It had the grey suede on the doors, which was nice. Then the guy tells me that pistachio is an option. I thought "Wow, a nice pistachio green suede would look fantastic!". Then I learn, pistachio is beige for them. For a prestige package - beige is boring boring boring. In fact, their choices of exterior paint colors were white, white, grey, grey, brown, black, and another grey. No blue - no red - no orange - no yellow. No colors at all that would make it cool. I thought they missed not putting military drab green as a choice. My theory is that Audi has a color blind designer. That is the only explanation for no choices of real colors. Grey, white, and black are NOT colors - they are shades of non-color.
If you are judging the car based on the price: this car he is reviewing is the highest trim level q7 with a lot of options. The car starts at around 50k.
I really like the outside design tho, nice clean sharp lines, great looking lights in the front and back. For the price it should have a little more power for sure. For the price price its better just to jump up to the Porsche
Them audio level tho... With EVERY take, the vocals jump a huge amount, then level out. Not sure if your using a compression plugin, but please do. IF you are, please adjust you attack and release
I don't understand video car reviewers, they spend 75% of the time going over the specs, which everyone already knows, and if they don't know, they can look them up on any of a thousand different sites. Just get to the point and talk about if you like it or not.
Absolutely agree.... this car is boring as it gets... but it honestly delivers its purpose...luxury comfortable suv modern tech and slick design... you feel great driving this.... but theres no way this puts a smile on my face like my gls63 amg does!!!!
Audi Advanced its design and technology, far beyond competitors and you label it boring? Go sit in GLS 550 or Range Rover and maybe that will enlighten you.
The dashboard comment..... I personally think it looks better than some of the other luxury competitors. Easy to reach, easy to function and not cluttered with too many buttons.Oh and yes, your right about the leather stitched dashboard in other countries.
Bought Q-7 in 2017 Got regular service as per the Audi recommendation from their dealer Only have 80,000 mile when it started giving me problems Now at less then 99000 miles needs a new engine as per the dealer . Estimates for replacement is $20000.00 It is not a reliable car. Will not recommend any one buying this SUV
Who did your oil service? Audi? These cars are pretty solid mechanically and should get to 150k without major issues. Please give me update on your repair process. I also know a way how to get this taking care for under 2k. Let me know.

Come on man, comparing to Model X... Seriosly?! That's a pure electric car and ofcorse it's freaking quick.
The Q7 is widely viewed as the best in class. If you want a sporty suv then get the SQ5 or Macan.
There are still no competition in the luxury tier SUV when you gotta fit 3 child seats to the back. This has 6 ISOFIX points.
If you think this vehicle is 'boring' and 'disappointing' then I'd hate to meet such a cynical person as yourself
agree
I got one and love it. Fully loaded minus the air suspension
Kevin Keithan
Fully loaded prestige?
I think it's worth it
I love my 2017 3.0T Q7
The Tesla model x starts at $85k, the one you reviewed was the most expensive option they provide.
Well said!
Its easy to find flaws in a luxury car when you live a luxury life style every day. I would be so happy to have a new audi q7, over my 2014 impala any day 😏
A lot of car reviewers say that this is better then gls and xc90
Imad Ghauri like nobody ever
Imad Ghauri such as? Haha i have never heard, even jeremy clarkson him self said that there is no reason to choose the q7 over xc90
FsAviX - prove where JC said that. You have made that up mate.
haha hes a comedian
drove them all Q7 quicker not buzzy like the 4 cyl, XC90
You don't need to use the park button, you can just turn off the engine and it parks automatically
Purchased a Q7 for my wife and she loves it.
1.) Video sound quality issues?
2.) Leather dash is over-rated.
I really like the outside design tho, nice clean sharp lines, great looking lights in the front and back. For the price it should have a little more power for sure. For the price price its better just to jump up to the Porsche
You should buy this car: luxurious, comfortable, quite fast (272 TDI or 333 TFSI) and it has really great tech! Plus it's a cheaper Bentayga :D
Totally agree. I prefer the previous more elegant design. The new design looks like it's trying to hard almost retro.
People buy this for the road presence, the boot space, the space and comfort and quiet cabin. Its a business class vehicle
You can get a nicely equip Q7 for about $68k.
0:00 to 7:34 Why you should buy the Q7
7:34 to 8:54 Why you shouldn't
i have a 2014 q7 and i love it.. i actually got rid of my 2013 range rover and got the q7..
NEVER OBEY Is it comfortable?
I've just ordered an audi Q7 3.0 tdi e tron 2017, and now im watching this
hey mr virgin, if you dont prefer q7 just give it To me
You're pushing it Parker..
Absolutely agree.... this car is boring as it gets... but it honestly delivers its purpose...luxury comfortable suv modern tech and slick design... you feel great driving this.... but theres no way this puts a smile on my face like my gls63 amg does!!!!
I agree about the dash and door panels. It Europe they actually wrap the dash and upper door panels in leather!
My neighbor just upgraded from the last Q7 to this one
Lowk3y Chris Lucky person. Can't wait to get mine.
Totally agree with his opinion, for the price you can do better Audi
5:54 Rip headphone users.
Jaden Sanderson. #OwwwwwwThatHurt
SQ7 is better
obviously but probably costs more
At 23,000 it’s a tremendous value now 😎
Good thing it tells you how far ahead the car in front of you is, Audi drivers don't know how close is too close
I can't believe what you are saying.
Did you get paid to talk negative about the Q7?
It is far more superior that anything on the market.
He is actually the only one not paid to talk positive about it.
Why am I still subscribed to this channel?
Audi Advanced its design and technology, far beyond competitors and you label it boring? Go sit in GLS 550 or Range Rover and maybe that will enlighten you.
Audi Q7 best suv in my opinion. This video was boring hehe
I have a 2015 s4 right now, might get a sq5 in couple years
Watching this video while in my 2017 Audi Q7
The dashboard comment...You CAN get a leather stitched dashboard in other markets just not in the US. No clue why it's not at least an option
The dashboard comment..... I personally think it looks better than some of the other luxury competitors. Easy to reach, easy to function and not cluttered with too many buttons.Oh and yes, your right about the leather stitched dashboard in other countries.
Isn't the sound system on the XC90 better?
I have the exact same car but 2019 and I don't want anything else ,curious as to what your personal vehicle is?
Bought Q-7 in 2017 Got regular service as per the Audi recommendation from their dealer Only have 80,000 mile when it started giving me problems Now at less then 99000 miles needs a new engine as per the dealer . Estimates for replacement is $20000.00 It is not a reliable car. Will not recommend any one buying this SUV
Who did your oil service? Audi? These cars are pretty solid mechanically and should get to 150k without major issues. Please give me update on your repair process. I also know a way how to get this taking care for under 2k. Let me know.
3 litre V6 TFSI. TFSI stands for Turbo Fuel Stratified Injection. Are you sure it's supercharged?
Again Parker you don't here the road noise because theres a combustion engine in the audi and not in the tesla
Great review Parker! I totally agree with you on the Q7 being boring and not being a car that wows you in any way. It's a great riding, driving and functioning car, but it just leaves me a bit cold.
Volvo is the boring one
You should have test driven the 4.0L V8 Diesel if you wanted some get up and go
I'd take a Q7 over an XC90
BENKYism for what reasons, gotta digg deep for that answer
the heads up display, the engine, the fact that the car is similar to the bentayga
me too
and the climate control. you can get four zone temp, and FAN SPEED + MODE!
BENKYism xc90 has a heads up display
I want to see the previous gen Q7(2006) vs the Q7(2018). I’d say the newest Q7(2021) but I don’t really like the newest one.
It looks so much better!!!
The rubber-plastic cover can be changed to leather, atleast its a option here in Sweden, dont know about the US
Why is the premium trim the base? There is nothing premium about base.
Offroad? Oops. sorry. I expected quality, relevant content which I shouldn't have.
This is not the specd out model i think. I was inside a q7 having rgb LEDs in interior. It was stunning. Seats were brown leather.
