- Do you have unsightly bumps on the back of your neck that just won't go away? You might be dealing with a condition called Acne Keloidalis Nuchae (AKN). In this video, we will discuss what AKN is, what causes it, and how to treat it effectively.
First, we will start with the basics. What is AKN, and how can you recognize it? AKN is a chronic skin condition that causes raised, keloid-like bumps on the back of the neck or scalp. It is more common in men of African descent and those with curly hair, but it can affect anyone. The bumps may be itchy, painful, or tender to the touch. We will show you some examples of what AKN looks like and help you identify it in yourself or others.
Next, we will talk about what causes AKN. Although the exact cause of AKN is unknown, it is believed to be related to ingrown hairs and inflammation around hair follicles. Other factors such as genetics, certain hairstyles, and irritants can also contribute to the development of AKN. We will discuss these factors in more detail and give you tips on how to prevent AKN from forming.
After understanding the causes of AKN, we will move on to treatment options. There are several treatment options available, including topical creams, antibiotics, corticosteroid injections, and laser therapy. We will explain how each treatment works, how to use them effectively, and their potential side effects.
We will also talk about the importance of skincare and lifestyle changes in managing AKN. Proper skincare can help prevent and reduce the severity of AKN outbreaks. We will discuss how to care for your skin and provide recommendations for effective skincare products. Additionally, making certain lifestyle changes such as avoiding tight-fitting clothing and certain hairstyles can help reduce irritation and prevent the development of AKN.
Lastly, we will cover some frequently asked questions about AKN, such as whether AKN is contagious or can lead to more serious conditions. We will also provide tips on how to manage the emotional impact of AKN and finding support from others who have experienced it.
In conclusion, AKN can be a frustrating and embarrassing condition, but it's important to know that effective treatments are available. By understanding the causes and treatment options for AKN, you can take steps to manage this condition and improve your quality of life.

Suger intake!!
@@Godzkeys you don't understand what sugar intake is
I tried different ointments alcohol. Even visited a doctor and Nothing never worked. I detoxed my body and the bumps completely disappeared. I have a little scarring only. Anything you consume make sure it's always fresh. Stay away from shelf food.

I am a French/Mediterranean man and have naturally curly hair. Since being in the Navy I have had an ongoing battle with folliculitis and it flares up, especially during high processed carb consumption. Diet, Skin Tight, and TGel have really been my only way of fighting it. I have been diagnosed with various things including psoriasis and folliculitis.
I got infection from a barbers dirty clippers and it was as pretty bad, however, treatable. I would encourage washing hair and infected area with Tee Tree shampoo. Post washing hair use Witch Hazel on the infected areas. My neck area was pretty bad with both large and small type accesses and took me about 6 month before I saw any improvements. If you cut your own hair be sure to wash scalp with tee tree, use witch hazel post shower, and use a Cool Care disfencting spray for clippers.
Cure for this curse......not cutting the hair !!!!!
Amen
I started balding the only reason why I cut my hair smh
Insulin resistance from high carb diet. Vitamin c, zinc and d deficiency.
So your saying take those and it goes away?
He’s right
I have been facing this for three years.......how can I get rid of this
Isn't it originally coming from ingrown hair that developed into bumps ?
Yeah an inflammatory reaction occurs around the ingrown hairs then the bumps appear
Need to get rid of the in grown hair beneath which is impossible without slicing open skin
@@billarabga1055 try using Prid it helps the hair come out
I got this from a barber while in college (maybe his clippers were not cleaned properly). Good news is it is completely gone now.
This is how I got it treated. It is a process that can take up to a year or two.
First I said a prayer to God to get rid of this problem.
Then you need to go to a dermatologist to get an oral antibiotic course that dries up acne on your skin. Once you start taking it, then you need to do this continuously for a few months:
1. You need to avoid any dairy or oily foods at all times. Nothing creamy. Nothing at all. No fried foods.
2. You need someone who can do this for you anytime a bump appears -
Sanitize entire area with hibicleanse.
Wear gloves and use a lancer blade to cut open each and every bump, thoroughly squeeze all the contents out then press down with rubbing alcohol. Followed by peroxide to dry it out.
After popping all of them, apply a large area bandaid over the area.
The next day, take off bandaid and let air out.
DO NOT EVER SCRATCH. If it itches, only scratch from outside a bandaid. Do not let any fingers touch bumps.
The bumps will start to re-appear less and less each month. But it is important to repeat the process of popping them and cleaning them. Do not let liquid that oozes out spread to any other skin areas.
After a few months, you might need one more round of a slightly stronger antibiotic for drying up the skin.
Also, remember to always wash the area with antibiotic soap and keep dry.
Do not use any oils or hair creams in that area.
I followed these steps and now it's gone
I have a friend who had a more extreme case and he followed the same steps and delivered the knock out blow when he went on accutane. Completely dried up.
How long did you have it for and did the hair grow back?
Frfr?
I have this same problem from my barber
Triple action cream cured me right up💯
So whats the name brand?
Still have the bumps but they've shrunk down because I don't cut my hair too tight anymore and I use Tea Tree shampoo.
Thanks for the info. I find that when my hair grows long they come back. Cutting my hair actually helps so perhaps it is just ingrown hair? A doctor has said that to me in the past and I'm kind of tempted to believe him because mine seems to be linked to the length of my hair. Luckily they are not massive and not that many.
100% in grown hairs. every hair in your body had a connection so one ingrown hair on your chin can affect your hair line. you have to detangle the hair and keep your skin oiled lotioned Vasile and creme. do it everyday. after about 2weeks you'll notice that they'll be ready bro come out after that it's a proactive process but you don't wanna overly pick them because you're gonna feel the hair coming out of your body. eat seamoss and constantly stay clean and greased up. make sure to properly dry your body. while dry you can use alcohol to clean any germs. me personally I would fill up a tub jk. once all those ingrown hairs come out you feel like a new human.

1) First work on the type of food you eat In the case of infected acne keliodalis nuchea high cholesterol and sugar food aggravate the condition
2) treat the infection with doxycycline For doxycycline take 3 times daily for 8 weeks
3) then treat the outward acne keliodalis itself with a strong corticosteroid cream Like betamethazone, dermovate. This can last for about 9 weeks to prevent it occurring
4) while applying the cream make sure you apply it to the entire area of the scalp and not just focus on the bumps
Should one shave all the while though?

@@ainsworthjonesdid it go away for good or just reduced it?

Doesn’t work. I tried it
Why is it more common in black men?
Because of the curly nature of the hair it can grow inwards into the scalp and cause irritation
@@emma.a-m oh I see, I feel pretty stupid now thinking about it lol 😂 my cousin is Nigerian and she has the most curly hair I’ve ever seen! I shave my head bald and it’s happening, what antibiotics to use?
Change your diet to less sugary, more green and less greasy one. Dont rub it or touch it, apply plenty of exfoliating cream and wash with exfoliating facewash with salicylic acid. Then also, dont shave your head. It's caused by ingrown hair.
But why is it only seen on black men?
Curly short hair. Susceptible to ingrown hairs
Do they ever go away with the treatment?
