I am an atheist who was once christian. I debate a lot of a lot of Christians who study philosophy. The biggest argument they make is that because I'm an atheist, I can not possibly understand the Bible or interpret the words of the bible due to the lack of the Holy Spirit. What is the best way to defend against this argument?
Well assume they think the Bible is God's word and since it's his word there must be a meaning behind it. If so than why would "God" make a text that's flawed via our interpretation. Theres many different types of Christians bc of these interpretations. So objectively how can any of these "Christians" prove their interpretation is the right one. This has nothing to do with "lack of the Holly Spirit" and more so them making a unfalsifiable argument they are trying to make. If God can't make a text that's immune to humans interpretation than that is no God (well no tri-omni God).
In Religion: Christian: Criticizes Islam's prophet because he slept with a 9 year old child. Muslim: Criticizes Christian because Joseph apparently married Mary when she was 3 - thinking that this will somehow justify the act of their prophet, or I guess hope that the Christian will either drop his objection, or try to defend his position instead.

Every well-rounded Islamic scholar firstly explains that the concept of age of consent appeared only in the late 19th century and often biologically 9 year old girl isn’t different from an adult woman in these terms. ONLY THEN having defended their point, they will proceed to the Bible, stating: how can you blame Prophet for being “a pedophile” when Joseph falls under the same category? That’s all.

Basic human biology is heavily against this notion. Also, if someone wants to use Whataboutism to point at Rebecca, not only do Christians dont have her exact age in the bible, the passage suggests that IF she was really 3, she was strong enough to draw water from the well to water a herd of camels which doesnt make much sense. They have to Appeal To Authority and promote an interpretation of some rabbis which isnt even widely accepted.

Also that statement presuppose that the holly spirit is an actual objective thing. In which you can question them on that as well.
