    With things turning around for Richmond, it's time for everyone to work on their issues - like Ted's discomfort, Nate's confidence and Roy's attention.
    American college football coach Ted Lasso heads to London to manage AFC Richmond, a struggling English Premier League football team.
    Ted Lasso is an American sports comedy-drama television series developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, based on a character Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports' coverage of England's Premier League.[2] The show follows Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team with the secret intention that his inexperience will lead it to failure, but whose folksy, optimistic leadership proves unexpectedly successful.
    The first season of ten episodes premiered on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020, with three episodes followed by weekly installments.[3] A second season of 12 episodes premiered on July 23, 2021.[4][5][6] In October 2020, the series was renewed for a third season,[7] which will premiere on March 15, 2023.[8]
    The series has received critical acclaim, with particular praise for its performances (particularly Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein), humor, writing, themes, and uplifting tone. Among other accolades, its first season was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the most nominated first-season comedy in Emmy Award history. Sudeikis, Waddingham and Goldstein won for their performances, and the series won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Sudeikis also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Television Series Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

    i'm so sorry about the audio quality during the reaction. when i turned my headphones on after i finished doing my intro i guess something went wrong and it messed up the audio. there was a bit of static and then my mic disconnected and unfortunately i didn't notice it until i finished watching the episode. so i had to use my camera's mic and yeah this was the best i could do. i'm so sad and angry about this but i hope you can still somewhat enjoy the reaction

    Can we give a shout out to Nick Mohammad here aka Evil Nate? He plays the role so well and does a great job of making the audience hate him and feel sorry for him. This is what happens when the bullied gets power and cannot handle it. Notice how he is obsessed with what people say about him on twitter. Mohammad said in interviews that his character's bad behavior steams from his father showing lack of appreciation toward him. Very similar to Jamie's Dad in the First Season.
    What I find interesting about Ted Lasso (No spoilers, I promise) is how each season is tonally different. First season was fairly light and revolves around Rebecca's misguided plan to get revenge against Rupert. Season Two is much more darker and focuses on issues of mental health of the team. Both Season 1 and Season 2 are great in their own way.

    Nate's actions at the very end of this episode, choosing NOT to learn a lesson and instead bullying Will, made me so angry and so hurt that I had to stop watching the show for several weeks!!! I was straight up devastated at Nate's heel-turn.

      JJ Lonsdale it's not a heel-turn. you can see that he does this after reading the comment that sent him back to his worst days in season 1 when everyone was againts him.

      That just shows you the power of Nick Mohammad's acting here. You're emotionally invested in his turn to the dark and feel badly that he turned cruel.

    The issue with Nate I think stems from his father, some dads just cannot relate to their son emotionally, can't really show him love, praise or encouragement. This is especially prevalent but not limited to the children of immigrants who are taught to work harder and be tougher than the natives as the chances are they will be bullied and discriminated against and need to be mentally tough to deal with that but thankfully is a problem that has been taken more seriously these days.
    Nate's dad is the perfect example of the stoic Dad who has let his son become a doormat with no confidence because all Nate ever got from his Dad was criticism and probably scorn for him still living at home and working a job that really someone younger should be doing (as seen on the show when you see Nate's replacement).
    When someone like that suddenly gets everything they ever wanted too fast it can alter a personality quite quickly

      He doesn’t live with his parents, though. From 1x07, when he tells Ted the worst that could happen if he spoke his mind: “Then you fire me, then I have to move back in with my parents and they'll be ashamed of me.”

    Stuff will come to pass later in the season. Ted goes through every emotion. Fight and flight. Don’t laugh too much at Ted you will find out why very soon. Nate shouted at Ted and coach Beard in episode one. He’s got daddy issues.

    Nate has no idea how to be in a position of power. Like you said, he was always the doormat that people ignored or bullied. Now he sees people who are "below" him as deserving to be treated the way he was treated because he sees himself in them, especially Will, and hates himself.
    Jamie and Isaac used to treat him badly too as Colin did, but he would never dare to be mean to them because Jamie is the team star and Isaac is the captain.
    Can't wait for next one, such a great episode!

    I've been super enjoying watching your reactions to this show (and your Buffy reactions!), this is the first one I'm catching as it comes out. ♥ No spoilers from me, but a lot of observations:
    I actually managed to guess it was Sam as soon as Rebecca started flirting with someone on Bantr!! I'm still very proud of that.
    Before season 2, I watched an interview with Hannah where she was talking about how good the writers are, and how they planted stuff early on, and how when they were filming season 2 she kept picking up on stuff, and she would say to Jason Sudeikis: "Jason, when you said to do this with that person, and this with that person in season 1, were you---?" and he would just go "Mhm. Mhm."
    So when Rebecca started flirting with someone on Bantr, I went back and watched Rebecca's scenes in season 1. In episode 2, Sam and Roy are the only one who says hi to her. In episode 6, where he asks her to come to the team ghost thing, and he compliments her when she thinks he's asking her out. At the karaoke night in ep 7, he gets up to take her jacket when she's about to sing. In ep 10, the sit next to each other during Ted's speech at the end, and she smiles when he says the thing about being a goldfish. Sam is the ONLY player Rebecca has repeated interactions with like that.
    It's one of the things I adore about this show. They're so good at foreshadowing, which lets you guess some things, and gives amazing rewatch value.
    Like Ted's panic attacks! In episode 1 you can hear the high-pitched panic noise when Ted's in the press conference. In episode 2, you can see how his fingers are numb because he's nervous. So even right from the start, you can tell he struggles with anxiety despite how friendly and cheerful he acts.
    And there's countless stuff like this, for all the characters. Makes the world feel so rich and natural in the way it develops.
    AND GOD YES, Ted in therapy!! I love it so much. I love how the nodding agreeable bird makes Ted feel wrong, like he's shaking his head because he's tired of being agreeable all the time when he doesn't feel it. And then in their third meeting, Sharon starts the bird nodding before he sits down, so Ted can stop it!
    I love this show, sorry for the wall of text. Or you're welcome? Either one. ♥

    Without spoiling anything, Nate will get worse before he gets better...even if he's depressingly consistent. He's always had those arrogant, rude, condescending tendencies, even in Season 1, they were just suppressed under a lack of self-confidence and belief in his own worth. Now that the pendulum has swung the other way, he's lost the filter...
    People try to defend his treatment of Colin given Colin and Isaac's bullying in S1, but I don't think anything justifies abusing a position of authority to verbally lash someone repeatedly. Especially when most of Nate's torment seemed physical...which is much less damaging for one's psyche, speaking regretably from personal experience...point is Colin deserves better.
    On a more general note, your reactions are always relateable, and very, very entertaining with how expressive you are.

      I've found the biggest issue most people have, which I do find valid, is that there is an immense power dynamic there. When it comes to boss/employee relationships, it doesn't matter how mature and consenting they are, those dynamics are always at play. I'm pretty neutral on their relationship, but understand why it makes people uncomfortable.

    • @AceMoonshot
      @AceMoonshot Рік тому +1

      Yeah. It is an issue. If I have a complaint about the show, it is that this type of relationship is used more than once. Which would be fine except for they never really address it.

    • @cardellkenith
      @cardellkenith Рік тому +3

      @@karmacean I see that too. But I find it less of a point when a few reactors I've seen are so pro ted and Rebecca when they have the same power dynamic. When it becomes the pairing they weren't looking for, they see the red flags they were otherwise ignoring.

    • @peytonalexander5300
      @peytonalexander5300 Рік тому

      @@AceMoonshot Right?! Like, the fact that this show has had two major relationships with an enormous boss-subordinate power dynamics and it has never once been addressed as unethical really makes me feel like the writers and showrunners don’t see any issue with dating people who work beneath them. Which is pretty sketchy in Hollywood…

    • @kateorgera5907
      @kateorgera5907 Рік тому +1

      @@cardellkenith The age difference might be at play too. Ted and Rebecca are at least closer in age and are in similar leadership positions - coach and manager. If Ted's soccer career is ruined by a relationship, he just goes back to the states to coach football. Meanwhile, the show points out the larger age gap between Rebecca and Sam, and Sam is still sort of a rookie player, so his whole career could get destroyed if Rebecca decided to take something out on him.
      For me, though, it's like... we've gotten to know these characters. Rebecca is not that kind of person anymore who takes things out on others. Rebecca earned my trust, and Sam is not a minor. So I was never really squicked out by it.
