Also being an ok modeler, I struggle with threading through tiny holes. I have been working on a wooden ship's rigging and the tip I picked up is to cut the thread on an angle, then coat with a small amount of CA glue, which makes it sort of like a needle. It does make it somewhat easier. I'm watching this series because I have the Revell Platinum edition of this model waiting for me in my workshop.
Seems Pontos are "Pulling the P!@s" out of modelers..."well you want detail ..fine here it is...suck it up!" Great if one is a watch/jewellist repairer. You're doing very well
Just thought I would relay a factual tidbit, on my last trip to the New Jersey, a gentleman who served aboard her told me that the arrmements in the two forward cups were removed and that the captain allowed them to block the entrances and fill them with water to use as crew rec swimming pools - imagine that
Yes! I’ve seen pictures of that on the internet. The 40mm bofors were there and I think we’re removed during the Korean War? The Navy left the tubs so might as well make a pool!
For the record, pieces that may look like bollards on a ship are called bits. Bollards are posts on shore. True story..go figure any one else tells you different does not know seaman terminology.

So basically it makes it sturdy? I might have to try that. I have a lot of rigging in this build.
@@theokmodeler5755 Yes, rigid and keeps the ends from fraying.

Thanks @BushRanger! Pontos has a ton of details, I don’t even think I’ll be it all! If I did, this project would never be complete!
The controls are the windless brake and windlass control.
