I have exactly the same model.my problem was a capacitor in the hot circuit and also the regulator had gone over current.works great now I've fixed the problems.
Good to see another video from you Aston. I don't even never know nuffin about video stuff so interesting to see you working on this. All the best - Andrew
As a retired service Engineer, this brings back memories, 15 service calls a day, repairs down to component level in house. mmmm. An almost dead trade.
Yep, never a dull moment being an engineer back in the day. Either a mains switch on a Sony television (nearly all of them), or video that's broken down somewhere. The fun never ended. :-) I genuinely do get a sense of achievement bringing back items from the dead though.
Great Video Aston Fixed a Lot Of Panasonic Videos Still Have 2 NVFJ710s Which I Repaired,Bad Mode Switches, I Keep Them For Transfering Videos To Video Files Keep Up The Good Work Stay Safe Regards mike
Nice fix there Aston. Pesky over-run, poor quality capacitors... Glad it's not a common sight... Oh, hang on... I don't do VCRs, but if I did, they would be nearly as good as yours... Sorry to hear about the camera, but I think the iPad held up well.
Hello. At 6:44, that display seems week. You could restore it to its former glory and together rule the entire galaxy. Or is it time for my medication ?
Ahh, sorry, it was just the light that was coming in through the window downstairs, it was overwhelming the brightness coming from the display. But as you say, being a vacuum fluorescent display you can sometimes refurbish them by over-volting the heaters, but you have to be careful otherwise if you overdo it you destroy the display. :D All the best from Ast.
Hi there, I don't have the exact manual for your video recorder, so I'm working from the NVSJ210, which I believe is fairly similar. Sadly, if the capacitors haven't fixed the problem, you may be facing IC1101 being faulty. If it's been hit by a surge, or lightning damage, it could also be problems with any of the diodes in that area. Failing that, have a look for dry joints on any of the regulators on the main board and also in the tuner section. Sorry I can't be any more specific, but without it in front of me it's a bit difficult. Best of luck, Aston.
Okay, so, short answer is to line all the arrows and dots up, long answer is- it's a bit complicated, so, here is the K-Mech full manual elektrotanya.com/panasonic_vcr_k-mechanism.pdf/download.html That should help you sort out any timing complications you may find. All the best, Aston.
Not finish fix my Panasonic is broken The well of plastic transmisión power to tape and cinta beltd? Them not power on display and changed The capacitors thankyou soo much for The program.

Nice. Ahh, those pesky mode switches. And those plastic motor drive spindles... They nearly bankrupted Panasonic. :)
Good job Aston.
Thanks. :) It's not groundbreaking but it saves another gadget from the great landfill in the sky.
thank you
You're welcome. :)

Thanks :D "If Carlsberg made capacitors, they'd be the best capacitors in the world" said in a very deep voice. :D

Got a NV-SJ220 VHS. Changed out the capacitors and still dead. Showing power from mains in right to Power switch. Any idea Aston?

Could you explain how to align gears when you put the mechanism? THX
