I inquired sa UP Baguio last week, mag t-transfer sana ako. I.T to Fine Arts kaso sabi di raw tumatanggap ng transferees sa Fine Arts sa 2nd sem, try ko nalang daw next school year tapos ayaw din ako payagan ng parents ko mag stop for a yr :> so baka ituloy ko nalang mag I.T talaga kahit di naman ganun ka-enjoy :>

I'm gonna apply UP cebu fine arts this week. I'm so nervous because I haven't used different mediums, all of my artworks are drawn in graphite only. I mostly draw portraits and some are animals. Wish me luck T_T

got into BFA viscomm as a shiftee from my former degprog!! it really was a clutch and test of being true to myself in terms of my artwork 💛🐱💛
my interviewing prof told me he was proud of me and knew i'd get in when we saw each other weeks after he interviewed me. that was a slay

Can I ask if paano kung transferee and magshishift ka sa up ng fine arts?, I'am a architecture student, and it was very painful to get on a university because they have a preferred gwa and strand for architecture, maybe architecture isn't really for me that's why I'm seeking to find out more what I can really do in fine arts, And watching your vid give me more boosts to pursue fine arts.
Oh, not really entirely sure kung paano yung process but I'll ask to make sure and get back to you with correct information. However, sa pagkakaalam ko, you have to have completed a certain number of units so that you may transfer. Prepare a portfolio, some important papers such as true copy of grades for the previous sem/year you completed and maybe a birth certificate. do all of UP campuses have the same standards po? kasi I haven't seen a Talent Determination Test Portfolio from a successful applicant in Diliman T__T
Nice question, Leo! I believe each campus has their own sets of standards. Given din kasi na sa Diliman, you have options for which art form you would like to major at. Portfolios and talent determination tests for each of those majors in Diliman might be different from one another.

hello po! is it okay to ask kung ano pong art program yung kinuha nyo?? kasi nung tumingin po ako sa site ng upcfa, what i understood is that need pa po pala pumili ng art program like sculpture, painting, viscomm, etc. since i think may iba't ibang portfolio requirements yung art programs, gusto ko lng po malaman if ano kinuha nyo so may idea po ako kung ano ung nirerequire sa mga programs
Hii, I took Fine Arts sa UP Baguio and we had no specializations like those dahil konti lang din population ng FA sa UPB. Sa UP Diliman CFA lang yan applicable, so you better keep updated with announcements for the requirements sa specific program na pipiliin mo there. It might also help to reach out to people who might have chosen your preferred program since may experience na rin sila building a portfolio for their specialization. With regards to portfolios for UPB, you may include artworks across different mediums. 😁
Do you believe students who arent in the Arts and Design Track have a disadvantage in the TDT? i just got enrolled in Stem in a Science Highschool and i always believed that not being in that track would put me at a disadvantage 😢
@@Klei_ko Don't worry too much about that! I don't think you're at a disadvantage. It doesn't matter where you came from at the TDT. Being enrolled in the A&D track might help hone your skills but the TDT is all about your talent & skills overall. It wouldn't matter if you were enrolled in a different track. Just calm down, do your best, and you'll do well - you got this! 🤗🫶🏻
Nice portfolio po!! Curious lang po ako ano yung itim na nakapatong sa artwork po ninyo illustration po ba yun? Glinue niyo po ba yung artwork ninyo sa illustration?
Ahh, black na cardstock paper lang yun. And yes, I glued some of my artworks dun sa cardstock. Di naman siya necessary, I just thought it would look nice para mukha siyang framed or para maayos siyang tingnan lalo't iba iba yung size ng artworks ko. 😁 Thanks for noticing!

Hi, Johanne! The language you will use in the interview depends on your interviewer. Most likely they will let you speak however language you're comfortable with. That said, I think it would be best to code switch (from English to Tagalog) instead of code mix (Taglish). Lalo na kung medyo maarte sa wika yung makikipanayam sayo. :))

Well, iba ang Fine Arts sa UP Baguio - we go through almost every art form out there so that means you will experience painting, sculpting, digital arts, etc. Sa ibang UP campus lang may specialization/major course 😁

Hi, yes of course. Importante pa rin na maganda performance mo sa school mo noong high school. After all, requirement pa rin isubmit ang copy ng report card/true copy of grades when applying for any course. :> Good luck!
What happens if you pass upcat for upb but dont pass the tdt? Or if you passed upcat for upb, can you take tdt for upd kung first choice mo talaga diliman (but didnt make the cutoff upg for diliman)? Thanks
If you passed the UPCAT but didn't pass the TDT, they will give you a chance to choose another program with available slots or will refer you to another university or UP campus. Parang appeal yung mangyayari if ever. However, if you didn't pass the UPCAT, you can still take the TDT wherever it is available (whether Baguio man yan or Diliman). Hope this helps, but if not, ask more questions lang ☺️☺️

hello po, I'm still an ABM student po grade 11. I want to pursue something that is related to arts. May taon mahigit pa po bago ako mag college pero matanong ko po kung pwede na itry ko yung TDT after ko po mag shs. Or kailangan ko po ba muna magtake ng ibang course sa ibang university para makapasok sa UP? May term po ata sila na shiftee ba yun? Hahahaha. Naguguluhan po kasi ako kung kailangan ba nung sinasabi nila na units bago ka makapasok. Hahahahhaha ayoko na po kasi sana itake yung accountancy mas gusto ko po talaga ng arts.
Andaming discouragement sa BSA na mahirap daw at hirap makapasa, pati na rin sa Fine arts kasi wala raw money dun. Napapaisip na rin po ako kung kunin ko na lang yung fine arts after ko makagraduate sa BSA para wala sila masabi na wala akong stable na job in the future Hahahahha. Ano po opinyon iyo? Salamat po
Hi Elle! Pwede ka na agad mag-TDT after SHS. In fact, hinatak ko yung 2 besties ko nung SHS to try out for it even though they didn't get to take the UPCAT and pumasa rin sila kaya magkakasama pa rin kami throughout college! You don't need to be a shiftee before trying it out. Pero if ever di successful ang first attempt mo, you can take it again provided na you have the requirements ready.
As for the discouragement, you'd be surprised to find out na may pera (at malaki ang kita) sa Fine Arts when you get to listen to professional artists, which we occasionally have talks with. Sa aking palagay, it's better you take something you actually want to take - a course you want to truly pursue that you're passionate about - than to take something just because sinasabi ng iba na may pera dun. Syempre the final decision is up to you pa rin. I hope this helps you come to your decision !

Most of my paintings po kase are pinterest inspired, can i input it in my portfolio po ba or need talaga na its from my own creative juices yung mga artworks? i love painting po kase but cant paint one without reference po, i feel like im not creative enough to fit the standards ng fine arts. But i love to explore anything related to arts esp painting po huhu
Hello! Don't worry, we always use references in painting and in all other art forms, even in Fine Arts 😁 Using references doesn't make you any less creative than other artists. As for your question, pwede naman yun ilagay sa portfolio mo, sometimes you can also add a pic of your reference for comparison 😁 Good luck with your pursuit of creativity and the arts, artist 💕

Hi, I'm pretty sure this question was answered sa video mismo 😁 But ICYMI, I did take the UPCAT and I passed. It is possible to apply for the TDT without having to take the UPCAT though. Importante lang is mapasa mo ang TDT 😁 Check the official pages ng College of Arts and Communication for UP Baguio or College of Arts and Letters for UP Diliman, they have started to roll out announcements regarding the TDT

@@gwynethesmeria1764 Hi, sa UPB, wala kasing major specializations sa Fine Arts. It's only applicable sa Cebu and Diliman for now. The reason is because we do almost all the art forms as subjects/courses anyway.

Hiii! There is no major for FA in UP Baguio, kasi we go through the different art forms that are majors in other UP campuses as subjects in UPB. As for the first test you were asking about, were you referring to the UPCAT or the TDT?

@@vinsmoke.033 the UPCAT is different from the TDT. If you fail the UPCAT, you can still take the TDT. You can refer to my other video about how I got into UP Baguio, there's an explanation there about the difference between passing the UPCAT first and just taking the TDT 😉

Hi, I'll try to answer all your questions pero if meron ka pa tanong, you may ask again:
1. It doesn't matter kung isa lang art style mo, but it would help if you show a lot of variety. Maganda kung may background ka on those stuff pero di naman siya masyadong required since you're going to learn it anyway sa FA.
2. The portfolio is part of your application so it consists of your works from earlier years (in the last five years lang) before your application.
3. As for your mirror self-portrait, it depends sa instructions. But most likely, they're asking you to do a hyperrealistic or at least realistic self-portrait. It's not a test of art style kasi but rather a demonstration of your pre-existing skills in drawing, kasi yun yung tinitingnan din nila. Whether you have some knowledge of proportion and realism 😁

Usually before the first semester of the school year begins, so around July or August, or in some cases September na ata? Check regularly for posts from Facebook by the College of Fine Arts (for UP Diliman) or College of Arts and Communication (for UP Baguio) for updates and announcements. They give a timeline as well as deadlines for submissions of portfolios and requirements :>

Hi, I think I can recall explaining it here and in my other video. Wala kasing major/specializations ang Fine Arts program sa UP Baguio because we learn all about those in the program already tsaka maliit lang ang population ng FA students sa UP Baguio 😅 In any case, I still think the tips I shared here may help pa rin anyway if you apply for FA majors in UP Diliman or UP Cebu, syempre just make your portfolio more specific dun sa pipiliin mong major if ever 😁

Hi po! Need po ba pumasa ng UPCAT para makapag bachelor of fine arts, ang pagkakaintindi ko po ksi is pwede pa rin po makapasok UPCFA pero under ng certificate program (If pumasa ng TDT pero hindi ng UPCAT) daw muna po na pwede i-continue sa Bachelor of FA.
Yeah, if your plan was to take bachelor's degree right away. Pwede rin i-continue towards bachelor's degree if under certificate program ka. 😁 I think I explained that in another video about my UPCAT Experience, dapat ata nilagay ko rin dito, but yesss,,, you're right. Good luck!

Though if you do want to take arts/film/theater or any other course in this field, prepare for a Talent Determination Test pa rin. 😉😉

Aww hey, don't worry, ask more questions lang if you still have more! The difference is that CFA is only taken for three years and BFA is taken with four years kasi may thesis sa BFA. But if CFA ka and you want to pursue being a BFA graduate, you continue your fourth year after submitting some requirements lang 😁 Is that clear ba?

Not really. Portfolios aren't read, they're just viewed. Wala silang pake kung may essay or paragraph ka kasi at the end of the day, yung artworks lang ang tinitingnan nila. Yung explanation for your pieces comes from the interview na if ever they have questions about them 😁 Minimal words, the only important details to note are titles, dimensions (size ng artwork ), year they were produced and mediums used.
