      It is fun to play with, it took a bit of time to find the right balance between the speed, paint flow and roller pressure. By the end of the video I figure out the right combination. But at the beginning I was not sure if it will work at all.

      Good point, what you see in the video is exactly how it started. At the beginning I was not sure what is the right pressure, traktor and pump speed, but by the middle of the video I was able to find the right balance. At the end I have decided to keep how it is without taking another short. This is real and it is not as easy to make it work. Super thank you for your comment.

    They use a special type of tape and a propane torch for marking real roads. Maybe a tape laying machine?

    • @TheBrickWallTeam
      @TheBrickWallTeam  6 років тому +1

      Glad to hear an expert opinion. You are so right, this is a balancing act between real life and Lego Life. And probably, the cost of the special tape would way more that Lego set. Thanks for the feedback and your support.

    • @hamjudo
      @hamjudo 4 роки тому

      I suspect it varies with climate, traffic conditions, and the complexity of the artwork. Around here, they use tape for some markings and spray paint for others.
      I have seen them use tape for all markings on brand new four lane divided highways that will get heavy traffic.
      They also use the tapes for cross walks, arrows, letters, and other odd shapes. For straight lines that are parallel with the flow of traffic, they usually use the truck mounted sprayers.
      I believe I saw a truck flame treating the road once. Most of the time they just spray on heated paint.

    How does the pump mechanism work?

    • @TheBrickWallTeam
      @TheBrickWallTeam  6 років тому

      Good question. The Lego pump (6L) is located under the platform, next to the battery, it is powers by L Motor. The compressed air from the pump goes to 4 switches and then to 4 bottles with paint. Switches controls which bottle to push the paint out. There are two bottles with white paint, one with yellow and one with green. Bottles with white paint have one input for air and 3 outputs for paint. At the beginning I used one output and was not able to get the push the paint to all wheel in the same time, after long testing come up with idea of using three metal tubes connected to the bottle. The pump was working at full speed when painting the crossroad. The challenge was to deal with the pressure build up in the bottle when I need to stop the paint to go out, for this reason the air pipe connected to the side inlet and the other connector is used to release the air when no longer needed. this way I kept Lego pipe for air only as it will be difficult to clean them up. Long answer.

      I was using Acrylic paint , mixed with water 25% to make it flow in the tiny tube. The gears are very special, originally I had only one and it came from a Star War set, recently I have ordered 10 of them (from Lego website) as they are great for low speed gears and as you can see were very useful in this mod.
