Yea looking at it I would think it’s around the $600 mark. It doesn’t carry the cachet of the bigger brands to justify the asking price. Side note a trick I use for the rivets is to use strong tape on one side to hold the screws from spinning.
Honestly, the fit and finish looks really good on this watch. I have more expensive and similar priced watches that have little quality issues and less quality movements. Acrylic has a candy gloss look that I really like, so that is not an issue for me. Definitely a watch and brand that I will keep my eye on! Thanks for review!
Some fascinating info on the gilt process a real eye opener, thanks for including that, personally I prefer the way the Breitling is done. Acrylic crystal was a real strange choice for a watch North of $1k. But the real killer for me is the twin screw bracelet that would be a deal breaker. It's a nice looking watch but it's competing against the likes of Oris, Zodiac, Longines.......
That information you researched and shared about the "true gilt" process was very helpful to learn. Thanks for sharing that. It's a nice watch but I'm not totally sold on the price tag personally.
Price doesn’t seem bad at all for SW300. Acrylic is very deliberate by this brand. They have an unusual and proprietary lume which is mentioned end of review but more details at the brand website. Unusual. Thanks for the education on gilt!
That’s good to know. I own a few acrylic crystals myself and don’t wear them daily. So the likelihood of them getting scratched up is minimal. For an everyday watch I could fathom wearing an acrylic.
Great review Joe. Now, I'm not a super fan of gilt, but I do like this watch because of its retro aspect. I like the design, proportions, awesome movement, and I even like the acrylic crystal...yes I love acrylic on vintage inspired watches. Having said this, I absolutely hate the rivet style screws in the bracelet, and more so the double screw system which in a couple of bracelets i have adjusted with this setup had me wishing I had not bought the watches these bracelets were on. All in all, to me, there's more to like than not, but not at the present price. Thank you for sharing brother.
Thanks for shedding light on how gilt is applied/produced on a dial. Love the Breitling, btw. I’m in agreement on plexiglass vs sapphire-plexi is fun, but on a daily watch basis, it’s bothersome-that’s coming from an owner of a Sinn 103 and a Panerai PAM 372. Keep that polywatch on hand! The other elephant in the room: is it me, or does the magnification on that cyclops seem a little weak? Maybe only 2x? Instead of 2.5x, like Rolex, (or Ginault, Davosa, or Squale)? I am glad for the SW 300-1 used. I wish other smaller brands would incorporate it because of the 56 hour power reserve, and higher grade. Or better yet…. incorporating La Joux-Perret’s G100, with 68 hours of power reserve. Cheers!
Christopher Ward have done the same with a concave bezel. I'm not sure on it. The elephant in the room for me is the cheap logo at 12, it's just aweful and cheapens the look.
I appreciate the passion Typsim is putting into their watches. However in my non-hardcore (and more normie) opinion, the details, while cool, do not add value to the watch. Some watches look better with the character of a scratch or a ding. Dunno about this beasty. Acrylic + all those high polished areas mean a watch that may look a bit aged/haggard before its time. Ashamed, I really like the looks of the watch.
Good review but why in the hell would you want a display window case back? More overrated useless thing ever, and it will make the watch thicker. Also, for the bracelet screws- sure it’s a pain but it’s something you literally do once and never again unless you gain or lose a shitload of weight, and the double screw system is very secure, maybe the most. I have no issue with hesalite on the speedy either, and acrylic/hesalite is much more oleophobic (way less smudges and fingerprints than sapphire) and much warmer and doesn’t shatter like sapphire can.

That side trick is pretty nifty! I will surely try that. Thanks for sharing.

Good points. Definitely some stiff competition at this price point. Thanks for the feedback and watching my good friend.

I prefer the workmanship on the Breitling. With regard to the Typsim, I don't care for the acrylic crystal nor do I like the yellow indeces.
Thanks so much Greg.
Looking at the Typsim for 2024 and i needed more visual details. I appreciate your review because it definitely helped me come to a decision!
It’s worth the money! This watch is amazing and the man behind the project is a top notch gentleman! Cheers
Thanks for watching. Matt is certainly a gentleman and I wish him the best with this project.
Just want to say I love Acrylic crysrals .I have 10 Vostoks with them and haven't had to use polywatch on any of them yet.

Too much as you say, love the name for the Hands Sword and Tie hands 🤣. I think that one will stick !
😂 thanks so much bro

how can it be a chronometer if its not certified
I wouldn’t have said non-certified. I would’ve marketed it as chronometer spec’d.

Good analysis. Thanks for sharing and watching.
Nice
I'm going to answer that first question...its not worth it. I'd opt for a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf before this would even cross my mind
Hey Jason… thanks for watching.
I think the new Borealis GMT is a better value for an affordable price.
If it was perfectly executed till the end including saphire bezel and crystal and a nicer bracelet I could put down 1.2k but not like this.
Good feedback. I’m with you.
It only worth what some is willing to pay for it
Exactly what I allude to. Thanks for watching.
550 to 700 sell em all day
👍

Some good honest thoughts there. Thanks for sharing.
