To find horizontal displacement at a point, just change the unit load from a vertical load to a horizontal load and repeat the process. The “real” loads are still the same, so if you already have the vertical displacement at a point, you only need to solve one more system (that is, the virtual system with the horizontal unit load) to find the horizontal displacement.
