There is beauty in farming the land and todays machinery makes it easy to produce a bumper crop. These are great videos for showing how that machinery works. Good job.

With a track width of 3.15m how do the farmers deal with being over width if they have to travel by road to another field as they are wider than the road lanes?
Did anyone else notice that the tractor was hunting from side to side as the computer provided minor course corrections from the GPS system. It is made more obvious by the longer nose on the tractor thanks to the liquid fertiliser tank on the front.
Soil compaction is one issue that having tracks can solve as the machine weight is spread out over the length of the track footprints rather than concentrating on the smaller wheel footprint. Another thing to consider is the clay content of the soil making the field difficult to work when wet or very wet

Despite that Belgium is one of the smaller countries in the world , it is the biggest potato-proccesing and exporting country in the world. A lot of the potatoes that are proccesed here come from France and The Netherlands.
@@jackybruckers So if that is the case then I could have eaten some of the potatoes that I have seen planted and harvested in Tractorspotters videos? I never thought that would be possible until I read your comment as I had no real knowledge of food production in Europe.
Generally they don't as they need to be able to get the machines on and off the field. It is a loss of productivity but it is the price that you pay for the higher yield from mechanisation.
I think the video is from the end of Februari first week of martch. Than whe have a verry sunny week and high tempratur ,they plant allso potatoos in my airea.
@@kutzeeuw i can hardly imagine planting potatoes in February here in Southern Germany. In the nearby Gäuboden where lots of potatoes are planted, farmers tend to start planting early types in the end of March but regularly in the beginning of April. Why is he only doing every second row before filling them in? Ive seen that in a few potato planting videos now but i can't seem to figure out why they do that or what the exact pattern is they do it in.
Check out the drone shots and look at the tracks at the end of the rows to see the turning radius of the machine. Remember that the tighter the turn the slower the machine must go and the greater the stress on the machine.
Because a potato "seed", is a potato. There are no seeds in a potato. Some do transform themselves into a plant , that yields potatoes. That is why you may have heard the term , the potato has"gone to seed". Excellent question
If you leave a potato long enough it will begin to sprout the beginnings of the root system that will enable it to become a potato plant. Naturally companies like Monsanto would love to be able to turn this natural feature off so that farmers are forced to buy their next year's crop seed potatoes from them. All in the name of profits and at the risk of denying people access to a staple food that has fed people for millennia.
the potato farms i have seen leave the headlands for maneuvering with their tractors. part way through the season they go through with a tractor to mound the soil up onto the lower part of the potato plant.

Fantastic close-up shots!
Fascinating video Great to see close up shots of how thing's work. Many thanks for the effort you put into your videos 👍
I always wanted to know what it looked like at a Kit-Kat farm. Been a life long dream to see it happen.
Kit kat farm??
@@gijsvermuntagrifotografie Google a Kit-Kat Chocolate bar and you will see it is 4 rows of chocolate that look like the rows of potatoes.
@@ThyBountyHunter Bit of a Dad joke there but I got it. To me it reminds me of slip form concrete or curb and channel concrete being laid.

Wow thank you for the video.. Love from here😍❤️❤️👍🏼
Used to raise potatoes years ago, didn't have that nice of a machine. I don't think it would do well in a field with rocks. Lol
Well you could clear the field of the worst rocks to save damage to your machines.
It's really one of the best video that I ever watched.
Thank u man for the great camera shots.

Mark Fryer tracks instead of front axle steering makes it more noticeable
@@mysteryman3547 I guess it does. If the tractor had wheels or the separate tracks then we wouldn't notice the minor changes in direction.
Die gps is wel heel erg ijverig aan het corrigeren
have to ask, is there a advantage of using tracks over wheels for planting potatoes?
i would guess soil compaction but also looks more maneuverable at he end of the rows

Its because of the turning radius of the equipment

Question why plant a potato to grow potatoes? Ive never understood that.

The gps steering looks twitchy.
