its ultra rare. All the Aneka stuff is. She didn't perform long and doesn't re release or want her material circulating she has moved on. She didn't sing on tv live often. This is the only one I know of for this song. Other clips exist but nobody posts them . IDk maybe some will resurface. As shes a one hit wonder people don't put any effort into finding them or putting them up , shame.
An odd disco record, didn't chart well in the US, but was a #1 record in the UK and across Europe and the Netherlands. Love this clip's clean audio, especially for a live vocal. (The 12-inch dance version had additional vocal harmonies and a better mix than the radio mix she's singing on here, IMHO) Great clip, thanks for postkng.
there was a weird baritone almost robotic vocoderish vocal under the lead in places on the recorded version and the extended . This is nicer tbh. the only flaw is she is off time with the backing tape when it gets to the "oh oh, ohh" bits.
she probably hadn't heard the track more than once though it was probably mixed for the show by the label or the tv company. She always mimed it two and was used to hearing the studio version and miming to it.@@MarkGelderland
thought I would never see this again. Been searching since it was removed last year. Thanks for posting this! I knew there was a live video and I had seen it , however I searched everywhere and could not find it. I saw an interview where they showed footage of a performance of "Oh shooby doo " and "little lady" and I think they mifht have been live. I wonder if any copies exist.
@@tearsnjoy7065 yeah I reckon they must be out their somewhere. ua-cam.com/video/vNO0PJP8_G4/v-deo.html. I only know they exist because of this one hit wonder documentary, they interview her about half way through and there are some clips that you cannot find anywhere. I am pretty sure the second clip of "little lady" might have been live. They interviewed her too and she talked about her career and they asked her to perform, however she refused. She did perform once more last year with her son and some others, on a cover of Japanese boy, you cannot hear her at all really, its quite faint audioua-cam.com/video/WfIYLrol8ec/v-deo.html .
@@jeframp3805 that’s her son? I love that cover. I found it interesting that she sang backup in a lower key. It was a delight seeing her in costume again, though
@@Loganjlr well lots of people in the comments say her son son Duncan was one of guys in the video. Highly likely given the fact she said she’d never perform that she would with her son at his request. I wonder if her voice has changed over the years and that’s why she hasn’t performed she mentioned she doesn’t sing much round the house in her last interview in 2011 or something and mentioned something about singing past your prime. She sings well but it is much lower. Perhaps she was a smoker it’s more than likely being from the 80s and that might have lowered her voice. She doesn’t seem the type to do drugs and I suppose she may drink perhaps but if I had to guess I’d say smoking because it was so common. She could have acid reflux or have had some kind of health compliant. Who knows. She definitely has become an alto rather than her prior mezzo soprano. Think of Joni Mitchell she’s had a similar Vocal ageing process.
Finally! I was looking for a live version for a long time, for some reason this vid never popped up. So glad hearing Mary singing live and nailing it. 👍
she only performed for a short while and there is almost no footage of her live. I don't think she cares or wants its re released and has retired. As she had one hit she doesn't have a fan base to search for it . Shame. She did a tour once but I do not know if any audio or video survives. Her one and only Aneka album is hard to find even.
@@grayadams-hall I have many live recordings of her from Scottish television and her 3 studio albums she never did much live work as Aneka but as mary she did loads she still records now and then her stunning version of she moves through the fair is amazing she has done 2 albums as mary sandarman.
it has been on youtube , but it got removed. Could not find it anywhere, it is ultra rare. I know there are about 2 other live vocal videos which I saw clips of in an interview . I do not think any copies are around though. I did not expect it to be uploaded again. It is so much nicer than the single version and all the other performances are playback.
what a gem! thanks for sharing! cheers from Mexico City - where this song was a huge hit
Wow! I never heard this live vocal version and I’m a huge Aneka fan. Thanks for posting!
She’s an underrated singer. She has an amazing voice
SHE WAS ORIGINALLY A FOLK SINGER...
And Scottish 🏴👍🏼
Beautiful voice and beautiful lady ❤
Her natural voice sounds so much better on this than on the single mix!
this is not her natural voice lol i should know i have her albums before she was Aneka i must admit this is a great live vocal
@@BlytheWorld1972 wow another person who loves both the weather girls and aneka
Ay yo... this is definitely RARE...AND LIVE yo... 🔥 ❤
You know you actually found a rare vid when it's only got 5000 views. Thanks for this

It was a huge hit in Latin America especially in Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Chile
It was v popular in Malaysia in 82/ 83. On the radio, in record shops n discos! Those were the days.
@@jeframp3805 I don't think that's a flaw, she does that on purpose, professional singer as she is.

Good! due nothing to the original!
Her voice is good but the drum is horrible.
her voice is very good. She is softening plosive consonants and avoiding the pops on these older mics that sounded horrible. Her pitch is good too.
