I had the exact same experience. My poor parents finally gave up, bought something from teleshopping which they otherwise refused and it was all for nothing. Great life lesson, though.
I got one for my birthday one year. It wasn't like anything advertised. The colors were chalky and barely picked up any colors. What color they did pick up, looked more like water colors. And being a child without fancy watercolor paper, the papers would always saturate. Plus it did not dry instantly.
After a while, the sponge brushes turn shit black and make your colors darker. Not to mention that since it's water color paint, the paint will melt as you keep using it. Therefore it's not a long lasting product
I don’t know when or where I saw this on but it’s engraved into my childhood. I come and watch this every couple of months and it brings me unimaginable joy 😅
When I first got this kit, that was the first thing I tried. I was disappointed to find that no, it does not dry instantly. The real product was nothing like the commercial.
Worked hard to bring my grades up so my mom would get me this and when I finally did she ordered it and it never arrived and I think about it every goddamned day
memory unlocked! I always wanted this and never thought I used it and I just remembered a babysitter had it and I used it! played outside on some vines there too. haha thats awesome XD
I remember using this! I wanted to buy another... >.> hmmm I never noticed before: they show kids painting but those are adult hands! I'm not surprised but I didn't see that before when these came out...
I had this as a kid, lol. I remember wanting one so badly after seeing the commercials, and one day my dad finally bought it for me! My mom was not happy about it though, because she said it was quite expensive. :P
It's a relief to see that those of you who have bought this said it actually sucked. I wanted this when i saw the commercial and Dad said no. Looks like it would have ended up a disappointment
MEMORIESSSS i remember this commercial when wed stay at our cabin in the states! We got it from the local mall there at this as seen on tv store, we didnt have these in canada, i was like obsessed with it but the colours became muddy but i didn care I WAS OBSESSED
I swear a huge percentage of kids nowadays would feel like you gave em a bag of coals if you gifted them this for christmas instead of an ipad or a switch. Cant blame them though, it’s an entirely different generation now
This, Marvin’s Magic Drawing Board, Amazing Elastic Plastic, Lionel Train Clock, 100 Songs For Kids, Shirley Temple VHS, Gerbrer Life Insurance, 60 second time machine toothbrush, Modern Rock CD, Anne Murray CD, Ionic Breeze, Sears Air Conditioner, The Phonics Game, all a staple of late 90s /Early 2000s kids channels. (Especially Cartoon Network)
i love how the hands on the ad clearly belong to somebody old! and they're hairy!. cause as a kid you'd think you could do all these amazing paintings you see on the tele and end up just doing colourful lines!
my hopes and dreams were crushed after years of begging my mom to get this and when she finally did it SUCKED
Haha
My mom kept telling me "We'll get it for you next week".
...but "next week" never came.
@@YowLife the classic "well get next week." Line....I feel your pain brother
You should have just gotten a few magic rainbow sponge and ink. Make sure it's all virgin edge!
I had the exact same experience. My poor parents finally gave up, bought something from teleshopping which they otherwise refused and it was all for nothing. Great life lesson, though.
I remember seeing this commercial on TV all the time when I was a child and wanting it soooo bad. Never got it lol
Me too!
My mom always gave me the same answer "We'll get it for you next week".
I'm still waiting for this "Next week" to come.
what year is this?

I remember wanting this so bad
+Vanessa K. Me too!
Be glad you didn't get it. I got it for my 9th birthday or something and it was awful. Absolutely did not work. :(
I want it too but never got it! :(

It gets me every time that they say 980,000 combinations and contradict themselve the next sentece by saying "The possibilities are endless"
2020 gang 😎
Are you a Virgo? 😂
lmfaoooo
🤣🤣🤣 tell me you're analytical without telling me
I don’t know when or where I saw this on but it’s engraved into my childhood. I come and watch this every couple of months and it brings me unimaginable joy 😅
I got this when I was like 5 and it was the biggest rip off ever. The colors bled and they were definitely not that bright
0:35 did anyone else notice how he doesn't actually touch the paper? Hmmm... :p
When I first got this kit, that was the first thing I tried. I was disappointed to find that no, it does not dry instantly. The real product was nothing like the commercial.
It wasn't supposed to touch the paper....the person was testing to see whether it would drop or not if he shook the brush over he paper.
Yes I also saw😄
Yep
+Liv No when he put his finger on the paint and said it dries almost instantly he doesn't actually touch the paper
"Every drawing is incredible!"
You mean that I could of just used this and not spent thousands of dollars on art school? Well fuck!
Stocking Anarchy lol
Got to try this at a friend's house. After awhile the colors mix and look muddy lol. It sucked so hard XD
0:30 how they dabbed in the 90's

0:30 look at my dab
when they said it drys in seconds that lady did not wipe her finger on it
I remember how bad I wanted this lol
This was THE toy when I was a kid, and my mom actually ended up buying it for me, and I honestly have to say it was one of my favorite things to do!
For all of 20 minutes then the colors wore out and melted away
I asked my dad for one years ago. He went for a cheaper Chinese import one instead! 😂
memory unlocked! I always wanted this and never thought I used it and I just remembered a babysitter had it and I used it! played outside on some vines there too. haha thats awesome XD
I was never allowed this, my best friend had this and Gelly Baff and rubbed it in my face so much :(

I remember seeing this on the tv as a child, I always asked for it but i never got it oof
same.. im re-living my childhood rn
"Almost a million combinations!"
If my math is correct, there aren't even a thousand combinations. Maybe that's why this didn't last very long?
Your math is not correct. 9 colors in 6 positions, plus four brushes which can be oriented a minimum of 15 ways. 🤷♂️
I remember I wanted this SO bad and was severely underwhelmed when it came 😅 I’m 27 now and miss those days
Bob Ross clearly invented this
Bob Ross would never invent something so trash!
I wonder how the rainbow sponge lady would react to having this set
Morgan LMAO That’s why I’m here
Wanted this as a child.
I bought one of these online a few weeks ago and it’s actually really fun. You can make really cool things

I love how all of the people actually painting are full grown adults lol

I always wanted one of these when I was a kid lmao
My cousin had this when we were in 6th grade, I remember being so jealous.

Rest In Peace to everyone that got this and ended up with a disappointment.
As a kid I watched so much toy commercials and this was everything as a kid

the colors would run, the paint wouldn't dry at the touch ,and basically it was an expensive water and yes the sponge thing will leak.
