I'll vouch for this computer. It survived a few years in the military out in the field, and four years of college with demanding software for classes. It still runs as fast as it did almost 7 years ago, no issues updating to Windows 11 or the latest Mac OS either. And the original battery gives me about 4-5 hours depending, but originally gave me twice that. The speakers and screen are still amazing in 2021. And the camera is perfectly suitable for Zoom, just not in a dark space like he showed.

I got all the package and orignal cabels. I think i can use this MBP for 10 more years! Its so elegant with the apple logo light and without the ugly touch bar!

Every subsequent MBP has been both an upgrade and a downgrade in comparison to late 2015 model. Post 2015 to 2018 - faster processor, 5K display support, USB-C/TB-3…BUT - butterfly bitterness, dongle apocalypse, tricky Touch Bar, and mixed view on Kong-sized trackpad. 2019 - even faster processor, 5k display support, 16” display, kick-ass keyboard, better speakers, same I/O… BUT dongle apocalypse, tricky Touch Bar, and mixed view on Kong-sized trackpad. 2021+ M1 MBP - Fast, lotsa ports, big 16” screen, latest I/O, bye-bye touchy touchbar… BUT body is fat and dated, looking like a 2010-something MacBook.
At 7:50, the deal breaker for me was when you said it can only run at 5 hours even with a new battery. I work mostly on the go, even 8 hours straight ouside of an office, and since coffeeshops are removing electrical outlets, not having enough battery life is my most major issue with it.
there are really good, compact portable chargers you can use for the laptop you can get on the market for about $150 (last i saw). in my opinion, price wise at least, thats much more efficient than spending $1000 more on a new macbook (assuming youre specifically in the market for macbooks). its well known to be the best mbp, so in my opinion, purchasing a portable charger along with it is well worth it if the battery is the only big issue, but to each their own of course!
This is the last macbook pro that supports the SSD upgrade. It supports NVME m2 SSD up to Gen.4 with 4 lanes which give up to 3GB/S with a compatible converter adapter. I upgraded with Sabrent 2TB NVME SSD. It is working great.
I bought the same laptop but with 512gb in January. The speakers seem to be distorted a bit but I use speakers or headphones 99% of the time. I have Windows installed via Bootcamp and only game the Windows system 100gb. If you plan on playing games on anything other than Steam then you should give the Windows system at least 250 but I play almost all of my games through an external driver and with steam I can download and install games onto the external driver and still play them very well. The laptop can handle games pretty well, I even played games like Dying Light, Mad Max, Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor and Hitman 2(via Bootcamp) if you put the resolution to 720p and on low/medium. It's funny to hear someone be disappointed with 4 hours of battery life when I have owned Windows Laptop in the past that ended up having just over 1 hour of battery life after just 2 years of use and after 3 years was not even able to be on for 10 minutes without being plugged to power. When I bought my first mac(Macbook Pro 13inch 2015) in 2017 I could see how good the battery life on Macbooks was. The reason why I upgraded from a 13inch to 15inch but still bought a 2015 model was that I wanted more ram and a dedicated GPU. I did a smart thing actually, I sold my 13inch MacBook in my home country(The Faroe Islands) because everything, even used stuff, is more expensive there. I was able to sell it in a quick sell for 600 USD and I was the only previous owner. I study in the UK and when I returned from Christmas break I bought the mac I have now. I bought it for 930 USD because it was the cheapest I could find for the model I wanted. This means upgraded the screen, ram and got a GPU for only 330 USD, not to bad if you ask me. I recently bought thermal paste and screwdrivers for my MacBook so I will be fixing the thermal throttling soon. I am planning to use it to record music so it's important for me to not hear the fan when I am recording.

Good review. I'm still using my 2011 MacBook pro. It's still going strong. And though I'm looking to upgrade, I'm not feeling the need to rush because my current Mac is still handling the tasks I need it for.
Thank you! Yeah, the only reason to upgrade from a 2011 Macbook Pro comes down to OS updates and certain tasks that it may not be able to handle well, otherwise they hold up really well - not to mention they hold their value far better than any other laptops I've seen

Really good review and nice shout-out for the Chromebooks. I've been using a mid 2009 MBP for word, emails, and some legacy computing - a Chromebook for everything else. But neither are cutting the mustard in this new reality of enterprise video conferencing platforms. Shame to hear about the battery life - would you consider getting a new battery??

definitely good enugh for that but you should check if the battery cycles are under ora around 500 unless you're willing to pay 100 bugs for replacement

Microsoft refused to Make windows 10 more fluid. optimized, and very stable. They brought the fluent design, but they didn't brought it that much. I'm switching to mac os as my new windows 7 alternative. Mac os satisfied me a lot more when I used an imac at a classroom. Hopefully I'll might save it for a 2015 macbook pro
Microsoft isn't trying hard enough, they should just focus on improving the OS and fixing the bugs for a few years to make it stable and optimise the performance. It's one of the main reasons why I left too, and while Mac has a lot of quirks and missing features, I too am really happy with it overall.

Hello, to start editing videos, which one would you recommend the most? the 2015 Macbook Pro 13" i5 or the 2015 MacBook Pro 15.4" i7, without having to spend a lot of money, greetings from Peru.
It depends on what videos you plan on creating. For 1080p video, both are excellent, for 4K, the i7 would perform better, but if you go that far, I'd probably recommend a newer device - although that would cost you a lot more.
2015 is still useable and nice for internet applications but about office applications? Is on the downside it is not quite supported anymore and that is really discouraging, Apple is more focused on forcing people to upgrade for the newest ones while on windows it’s not the case at all, anyways newer MacBooks are so much pricier and cannot be afforded by most people
I had one but it’s too heavy. Got a 13” 2016 it’s smaller but lot more portable and the graphic card is just about 8% less performant than the Radeon RX on the 15” that is nothing ....plus the cpu on the 2016 is consuming almost twice as less power than the 2015 ... for almost same performance

I originally got this MacBook while in college when it was out. Gave it to my sis when she went to college so thought about buying myself the new 16inch. My sis recently gave me back my MacBook after 2-3 years and honestly I forgot how punchy that computer is for its age and specs. Heck, I sometimes now play pc games on it via boot camp. I just bought a new 2.5 16gb 500sd double graphics and 8500 mAH battery and it only lasts 3/4 hours watching UA-cam videos, is this normal? It is supposed to last between 7 and 8 hours , working on Monterrey
Use safari as it’s optimised. Chrome will eat into your battery at an accelerated rate. Never been a fan. Also, check your cycle count as you might just need a battery replacement if you’re only getting 3/4hrs…
Do you think a 2015 Macbook Pro 256GB SSD 8GB ram i5 is good enough for a fluent sensation or should I buy a 16GB one? I use it for programming, which isn't intensive at all, but I have to open many windows sometimes.
I think that if you have the budget, you should go for a 16GB version as it offers more flexibility, even if it's only used for programming that may not use up all the resources. If however u spot a great deal for the model you've mentioned and you wouldn't edit videos like I did, I think it'll be just fine.

Well, I had the 8gb ram 13" model too and it was too slow for me, but do keep in mind that I also use it heavily for a lot of chrome tabs and video editing, so for me, the more ram and cpu cores, the better.
Apple considers their products obsolete once it was discontinued for over 7 years. With that in mind, it's expected to be supported for at least till 2022.
Look up "laptop privacy camera cover" on your desired website and I'm sure you'll find one. I bought a pack of 3 on ebay for a pound. I much recommend it.

oh man shut it, small track, few machines have the large trackpads like the latest macs. I hace use them not enough of a problem to even mention. and the loud keyboard. You cam hear most keyboards and the macs are not any louder than most.
The reason it's called a review is to explain my findings and those were it. It may not be a problem to some, but it's something that I felt should be pointed out as some may find it useful.
While it's still an amazing device, I feel like the new 16" Macbook Pro nailed it with the fixed keyboard and great thermal improvements over the previous few generations.
@@Techusiast fair point but those were the good old days where ports didn't come as an additional accessory or spend 20 pound to plugin there mouse . they could just do 2 models of the 16 inch, one with ports and the other having the four thunderbolt 3 ports. if they just add ports a lot of there users would be happy and just toned it down with the track pad size because people cant really rest there palms with it (:

Hello, to start editing videos, which one would you recommend the most? the 2015 Macbook Pro 13" i5 or the 2015 MacBook Pro 15.4" i7, without having to spend a lot of money, greetings from Peru.
It depends on what videos you plan on creating. For 1080p video, both are excellent, for 4K, the i7 would perform better, but if you go that far, I'd probably recommend a newer device - although that would cost you a lot more.

2015 is still useable and nice for internet applications but about office applications? Is on the downside it is not quite supported anymore and that is really discouraging, Apple is more focused on forcing people to upgrade for the newest ones while on windows it’s not the case at all, anyways newer MacBooks are so much pricier and cannot be afforded by most people
Is it good for high end edits?
I had one but it’s too heavy. Got a 13” 2016 it’s smaller but lot more portable and the graphic card is just about 8% less performant than the Radeon RX on the 15” that is nothing ....plus the cpu on the 2016 is consuming almost twice as less power than the 2015 ... for almost same performance

I do a lot of music recording. By any chance, does anyone know if the graphic card (s) supports the new Amplitube 5? I have an opportunity to get a 2015 at a decent price, but don't know if it would support it. Any opinion would be greatly appreciated!

Sadly, I wouldn't know as my primary editing tool is Final Cut Pro which works perfectly fine.

I originally got this MacBook while in college when it was out. Gave it to my sis when she went to college so thought about buying myself the new 16inch. My sis recently gave me back my MacBook after 2-3 years and honestly I forgot how punchy that computer is for its age and specs. Heck, I sometimes now play pc games on it via boot camp. I’ll probably hold off on the new MacBook for now. 2015 computer still kicking, might even upgrade to an SSD

I just bought a new 2.5 16gb 500sd double graphics and 8500 mAH battery and it only lasts 3/4 hours watching UA-cam videos, is this normal? It is supposed to last between 7 and 8 hours , working on Monterrey
Use safari as it’s optimised. Chrome will eat into your battery at an accelerated rate. Never been a fan. Also, check your cycle count as you might just need a battery replacement if you’re only getting 3/4hrs…
Do you think a 2015 Macbook Pro 256GB SSD 8GB ram i5 is good enough for a fluent sensation or should I buy a 16GB one? I use it for programming, which isn't intensive at all, but I have to open many windows sometimes.
I think that if you have the budget, you should go for a 16GB version as it offers more flexibility, even if it's only used for programming that may not use up all the resources. If however u spot a great deal for the model you've mentioned and you wouldn't edit videos like I did, I think it'll be just fine.

Well, I had the 8gb ram 13" model too and it was too slow for me, but do keep in mind that I also use it heavily for a lot of chrome tabs and video editing, so for me, the more ram and cpu cores, the better.
what about bluetooth headphones? no delay on youtube, videos etc. ?

Apple considers their products obsolete once it was discontinued for over 7 years. With that in mind, it's expected to be supported for at least till 2022.

oh man shut it, small track, few machines have the large trackpads like the latest macs. I hace use them not enough of a problem to even mention. and the loud keyboard. You cam hear most keyboards and the macs are not any louder than most.
The reason it's called a review is to explain my findings and those were it. It may not be a problem to some, but it's something that I felt should be pointed out as some may find it useful.

While it's still an amazing device, I feel like the new 16" Macbook Pro nailed it with the fixed keyboard and great thermal improvements over the previous few generations.
@@Techusiast fair point but those were the good old days where ports didn't come as an additional accessory or spend 20 pound to plugin there mouse . they could just do 2 models of the 16 inch, one with ports and the other having the four thunderbolt 3 ports. if they just add ports a lot of there users would be happy and just toned it down with the track pad size because people cant really rest there palms with it (:
