Dynamite Headdy (ダイナマイト・ヘッディー) is a video game released in 1994 by Sega and produced by Treasure. It was released on the Sega Genesis system, with ports to the Game Gear and Sega Master System. A port for the Sega 32X was planned, but due to the system's low popularity, the port was canceled. It was released for the Wii's Virtual Console on July 30, 2007.
The style of the game is platform/action. In the game you play as the star puppet Headdy who can attack his enemies by shooting his detachable head at them.
Dynamite Headdy is one of three games included with Gunstar Heroes: Treasure Box Collection, a compilation of Treasure-produced Mega Drive games for the PlayStation 2.
Headdy, the central protagonist of the game, arrives in North Town to find that the evil puppet Dark Demon is in the midst of attacking the puppet town to select which of the peaceful toys should live and which should be converted into his evil minions. Headdy is captured and rejected by Dark Demon's forces, and is dropped into the dust cargo to be thrown into the incinerator. However, Headdy escapes the clutches of Dark Demon's minions and sets off to defeat the evil king.
However, trouble is afoot. Not only is the puppet world filled with Dark Demon's minions, but to reach the evil overlord's castle Headdy must defeat Dark Demon's elite guard, the Keymasters. To make matters worse, Headdy is followed by Trouble Bruin, a puppet jealous of Headdy's success. Trouble Bruin wants to be the star instead of Headdy, and will stop at nothing to be rid of him.

@@lenarmangum7127 I think the renamed stages were very clever, but ALL the dialogue was removed and the cutscenes were removed, thus making everything... confusing.
a trick : you can watch movies at flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.

I can only assume what the Super 32X expansion of this would have been like. Probably even crazier.
And yes, I've read the description, there was going to be a Super 32X port of this and it was cancelled due to the add-on's low popularity and sales as well as it being released way too close to the Sega Saturn's date (the Super 32x was developed by Sega of America despite Tom Kalinske's disapproval, according to Gaming Historian).
Treasure to Sega was basically what Rare was to Nintendo in terms of how they worked with each other.
Travellers Tales were also known crazy effects on the Mega Drive.
That’s a dang shame. I never even knew that there was going to be a Sega 32x port, that would have been so cool and amazing looking. Knowing Treasure they would have added a lot more content and extra goodies to that port.
In all my years of knowing and playing Dynamite Headdy (I was born in 1999) I never knew about this canceled port, of one of my favorite games!

Same exact thing only I was the older brother. Rare occasion I got pretty well past it and died at that stupid orang ball guy that throws a fit for no reason lol.

Notice some of the boss sprites are different as well. Like the Geisha girl, the color of the Bruin, and a creepy doll instead of a robot for an earlier boss. This is a translated japanese version
