This is beautiful, the emotion given by Suse Tietjen brought tears to my eyes. In not having a deep understanding of contemporary dance, or dance in general, the connection with life's tragedies/hardships really opened my eyes to the complexity of the arts and the power of interpretation. For the second act, I interpreted it as two people struggling to reach the same thing, whatever that may be. They come together and apart in this pursuit, nearly losing their energy/life in the process. They seem to never fight against each other in this pursuit, which indicates to me that they want the other to succeed as much as them. In the end, both nearly lost for energy/life, with the starting scene being the lasting scene, I would like to think that the closing of the man's hand indicates that he was able to grab whatever they both were pursuing. Even though he was beaten and broken down in this pursuit, as well as the woman, that he continued to garner enough strength to hold onto her, and her to him. He knew that whatever they both was pursuing would be nearly worthless without the other. But hey, that's just my interpretation.
    Much love,
    D.

Having some education in classical music and music theory helped me to understand the work. The structure of the choreography is very much like composition or even a written story or poem. By no means in a vague way. This is my interpretation/analysis.
The first act was clearly about drowning (could have, many interpretations e.g. symbolic or irl), then in my understanding it seems like they are both struggling in their own ways, but the man sacrifices himself in order to let the woman climb or perhaps the man is invisible and is symbolising the inner struggle within the woman? The chaos and conflict builds up till the climax right where the first act ends, because that is when they both find something to hold on to. The second act resolves the tension of the first act by letting the man break free from having to serve the woman, but after struggling in harmony they descend and fight their own fights so to speak. Which makes them realise that they need each other. The ending symbolises the newfound role of the woman who now seems to acknowledge and accept the man truly. There are many foreshadowings in the first act to the ending if one pays attention.
    Beautiful and suffocating.

I don't have any knowledge about contemporary dance whatsoever but since I watched the video my interpretation of the second act was Now they both seem holding onto their dreams, life at one point they're happy, relaxed, carefree then again they both are struggling to hold onto and are helping each other to hold that till their final hours. 🤔🤔🤔

Thank you. Today I'm going to an opening concert of the 31st Festival of contemporary dance in Vitebsk IFMC and i decided to google for some tips on how to percieve it as a piece of art. So I managed to come across only your video. Could you do another talk , please!!!

I didn't like, although the definition of contemporary dance is right (every can build in your head whatever you want...). My problem with this perspective is: that for me it sounds like audience need to try, to understand what babies trying to say, although babies can't speak yet. Another example: In book just words written without any meaning and you can build any sentence, whatever you want with it... With the movements it's the same, you can build a story or find the way to say something to people, instead choreographers put any movements together and ask you to search for meaning. In this case, modern dance is a bit better because modern people built a system for dancers and audience to understand them...
Last thing: If instead crying, SuSe with the smile told you that two lovely couple (under the drugs) trying to fly away. did you build another picture of everything?
