for me, Windtrace is literally the most terrifying game mode. I always look at the hunter on the mini map, and have a massive sigh of relief when I see they walk past me. getting chased by the hunter is super funny though, or watching someone else get chased. 10/10 game mode, anxiety machine with bonus points for being hilarious.
There was this one time I was just sitting down without a disguise only to see ganyu run past me with Bennett chasing her like I didn’t even get caught 😭😭

I noticed that every time there was a Zhongli and Xiao in the game, and one of them is a hunter, they just walk around together and never capture each other. It happened already three times, literally every time there were Xiao and Zhongli together
As a veteran of playing Windtrace wrong, 99% of the time you can stand on a tall structure, rock, or cliff right in front, or next to spawn undisguised and the hunter will just not find you. In the new Liyue Qingce village map, the one where you hide inside the village, not in the field outside of it, there's a small gateway right in front of spawn. You can climb on top of that using the two signs next to it. Always works, even had the 60 second reveal a single hider's location favor used on me and the smartest Childe main couldn't find me.
The Chasm map with the tall wooden structure, there's some banisters that hang directly above where the hunter's trapped in the beginning. I stand above them on the banister and I have had a 100% success rate. It's fantastic.
Actually something like this happened to me, but I was a hunter. Two mf was in village and I found one of them, but last one just disappeared. I couldn't find them. I think they used this tactic. Thank you. Oh, I'm also Child main.
Why do people go up to the AFK hunter? Because we think they are signaling to throw the game and want to befriend the rebels. Trust is now broken and betrayed, do not approach AFK hunters.
I think the only "wrong" way of playing windtrace is to try to get as few points as possible. Which is I believe 50 points per game. Easier as a hunter, you just don't catch anyone. Harder as a rebel because others may cause you to get more.
I got like 38 once, maybe even less. A hunter caught all 3 of us at the exact same second about 10 seconds after the match started despite us being scattered far apart. It was weird and definitely didn't make sense, it was kinda creepy. Blocked the hunter after that just in case it was a hacker. I even got an achievement I never got before after playing a total of over 1500 matches of Windtrace, which was 'Had an undistinguished performance' or something. Like what the heck does that even mean
did you know that last year’s windtrace, in the ritou map, there was a little gap between one of the houses and the floor, and you could turn into a stool and climb in? i loved that spot, too bad its gone
in this windtrace in vimara village theres a set of stairs and if you turn into a basket and go underneath it you go invisible underneath grass its literally so funny seeing the seeker running infront of u
When I played as the hunter at Dawn Winery one of the rebels who was Diluc sat down at the table so I joined them for a bit, I went ahead and looked for the other two and when I went back to the table I was met with not just Diluc but also Wanderer I thought it was funny so the three of us sat down together until the end of the round with a confused Ayaka in the distance 10/10 experience honestly
You know, in spirit of Windtrace, what if you did one of those boss riddles in co-op but instead you went to a random location and gave clues to the other person on where you are? It would definitely rely on the other person not checking the map, but seems like a fun idea to me. Love the content either way!
i think it’d be legitimately hard for them to not check the map if the location isn’t nearby them, bc walking all the way over could be a pain. cool idea if it could be figured out though!
I'm pretty sure you can play windtrace with people in co op aka your friends, you just don't get points or any of the rewards. So it could definitely be done while windtrace is still here, could be stretched out to other rebels giving clues if Java is the hunter and done

i once had the best windtrace game. i was playing childe, and was the hunter. a zhongli player noticed me and started jumping near me. when i was released, we were literally chilling. eventually all the rebels stood by me and we sat down on a bench. and for good measure, i used sensory aura on them to get the exp books and let them win👍

I was once at the top of a building watching Yoimiya chasing Xiao and it was super funny XD. Whenever Yoimiya tries to catch him, Xiao would always dodge the hunter's net by dashing at the last second. The chase lasted for like 45 seconds and he still didn't get caught. The result: We end up winning with the Xiao still surviving.
This video was exactly what I needed to be reminded that windtrace is just a silly hide and seek game, and I don't have to be so nervous about doing it. Thanks Java!^^

thank god i haven't met toxic players yet who insulted me for being bad in the game but i'm seeing it happen to more and more people and knowing that this is not an irrational fear to have is definitely not helping my anxiety😭 i'm already way too anxious while playing this game, i think i'd just stop entirely if someone was mean to me, i wouldn't even care about the primos😭

If the rebels are marked on the map (for the other rebels) I think they dont do that so people have a harder time betraying fellow rebels and revealing location? Some annoying people do that
I mostly hide right at the Hunters Spawnpoint. I realized alot of people dont check the Spawnpoint and just start running straight forward and spam their Search/Capture skills
personally i don't use disguises, people usually are so tunnel visioned you can just stand under staircase or in random object slightly higher than the ground and they will miss you

I did the same in the Springvale map, only I tried to contest the favor with Thoma. The hunter got it anyway, so I instead let them see me and ran them around in circles on the path around the windmill for the entire duration of their favor. I got caught, but they never found anyone else. Highly worth it and the most fun I’ve had at windtrace
I really wish Java would learn how to read. If he did, he would know that activating the favour as a Rebel gives you a massive speed boost, which you're meant to use to run away after snatching the favour. Also what the hunters net is and basically what all the abilities actually do.

I still can't believe they haven't found a way to rework the favor/comeback mechanic. On the large maps, it's usually just a way to further bully the Hunter. Since it's super super easy to steal it

This windtrace was really funny when the hunter got trapped spinning on top of a flag pole while climbing. All of us hiders just went out of hiding watched with concern lol.

Java, if you play again, equip the net as hunter, it's overpowered :,) (it helps u spot a rebel from a certain radius, takes off the rebel's disguise and you have 2 of them at your disposal, only problem is the cooldown (10 seconds for it)
I tried to do the go invisible and then run behind the hunter strat last night... but I pressed the disguise button instead XD I also had the same thing happen to me in one round, where I was in a good spot atop a small roof... but when the hunter was nearby, a dead teammate put an entire dead tree on top of me. Might as well have been a beacon... I barely got away! It's a nice idea, but it's pretty easy for your teammates to abuse their powers to try to end the match faster...
I had a hunter come straight towards me while I was a tree and just stare at me till I ran away as a tree still cause I didn’t know how to cancel the object transformation… they just let me run away slowly, I had very mixed feelings about that round 😭
as a childe main (with horrible artifacts) I just type in chat and chill the whole time. met a lot of zhonglis that just stand or just walk around with me. met a lot of fun childes who just went along with whatever gibberish I was up to too.
The secret to not being captured without a disguise is to either roleplay or to literally just run away from the hunter and let them chase you around the map until they give up. I did that as Scara just to me a menace and in the end I may have gotten captured a few times but it was an effective distraction to keep the hunter from searching for other players (I didn't even need the coins at that point lol) and even after I got captured I'd be a menace to the hunter, following them around, placing stuff and really just talking shit in the chat.
A god hiding spot as a lantern in the dawn winery map is in the corner with the stack of barrels! there are like vines on the wall and if u climb till the very roof and position urself better to seem like ur glitching into the wall as a lantern...I can assure you guys that the hunter would definitely not find you with the 'vines' covering you- (well if u get marked by the favor then I dont know about that...)
Yesterday i played the best windtrace game so far. It was the second Qingce village map. The hunter sat at a table for a whole game, i joined them like a minute in, and we watched the third player run around like a vase and then climb on our table

Literally yesterday I was in a windtrace match where a Chongyun was just standing around and I didn't catch them for a little while out of pure amusement With when the video was uploaded I almost assumed I'd be in the video lmao
I've figured out the best hiding place is under a bridge, I always win when I hide under a bridge, especially if I'm in water, because if the hunter finds you they can't use their capture ability while in the water and it won't reach you from on top of the bridge
There were two teamers in one of my games. A Zhongli and a Cyno. The Zhongli(rebel) was with the Cyno(hunter) IRL and the Zhongli followed me and the other person(a Diluc) and told the Cyno our spots. The Cyno waited till there was 5 seconds left and then caught the Zhongli. The entire time, the Zhongli was sitting on a bench out in the open. They were in my game again twice after that, and I was the hunter and won both rounds they were in my game. So, this is your warning everyone. Don't team. (I know they were together IRL, they told me later on when they apologized.)
Remember the original wind windtrace? No one transformed there either. Everyone just used Mona or tall characters and climbed to the highest spot on the map
if you get the qingce village map an dont want to use a disguise, go by the old man (to the right of the hunter) and if the hunter gets close use transparency and climb to the top of the house as fast as you can I did this with lumine and I also got marked yet I still won

just played a game of windtrace at dawn winery where i was the hunter and sat as diluc on the bench and nahida, klee, and ayato joined me. we hung out for the full three and a half minutes. it was great

Java, if you play again, equip the net as hunter, it's overpowered :,) (it helps u spot a rebel from a certain radius, takes off the rebel's disguise and you have 2 of them at your disposal, only problem is the cooldown (10 seconds for it)
Yeah. I was really surprised when I found out that they can shoot those mfs up rooftops too. I thought they can only shoot infront of them...
I tried to do the go invisible and then run behind the hunter strat last night... but I pressed the disguise button instead XD
I also had the same thing happen to me in one round, where I was in a good spot atop a small roof... but when the hunter was nearby, a dead teammate put an entire dead tree on top of me. Might as well have been a beacon... I barely got away! It's a nice idea, but it's pretty easy for your teammates to abuse their powers to try to end the match faster...
It's so fun playing wrong, I was diluc in his special outfit and just stood there, zhongli gave me a heart attack sneaking up behind me XD
I had a hunter come straight towards me while I was a tree and just stare at me till I ran away as a tree still cause I didn’t know how to cancel the object transformation… they just let me run away slowly, I had very mixed feelings about that round 😭
as a childe main (with horrible artifacts) I just type in chat and chill the whole time. met a lot of zhonglis that just stand or just walk around with me. met a lot of fun childes who just went along with whatever gibberish I was up to too.

The secret to not being captured without a disguise is to either roleplay or to literally just run away from the hunter and let them chase you around the map until they give up. I did that as Scara just to me a menace and in the end I may have gotten captured a few times but it was an effective distraction to keep the hunter from searching for other players (I didn't even need the coins at that point lol) and even after I got captured I'd be a menace to the hunter, following them around, placing stuff and really just talking shit in the chat.

A god hiding spot as a lantern in the dawn winery map is in the corner with the stack of barrels! there are like vines on the wall and if u climb till the very roof and position urself better to seem like ur glitching into the wall as a lantern...I can assure you guys that the hunter would definitely not find you with the 'vines' covering you- (well if u get marked by the favor then I dont know about that...)

Yesterday i played the best windtrace game so far. It was the second Qingce village map. The hunter sat at a table for a whole game, i joined them like a minute in, and we watched the third player run around like a vase and then climb on our table

Literally yesterday I was in a windtrace match where a Chongyun was just standing around and I didn't catch them for a little while out of pure amusement

I've figured out the best hiding place is under a bridge, I always win when I hide under a bridge, especially if I'm in water, because if the hunter finds you they can't use their capture ability while in the water and it won't reach you from on top of the bridge
The last map is pretty op for rebels cause you can just mask as a stone and become part of the wall or the floor, you should try this sometimes :)

There were two teamers in one of my games. A Zhongli and a Cyno. The Zhongli(rebel) was with the Cyno(hunter) IRL and the Zhongli followed me and the other person(a Diluc) and told the Cyno our spots. The Cyno waited till there was 5 seconds left and then caught the Zhongli. The entire time, the Zhongli was sitting on a bench out in the open. They were in my game again twice after that, and I was the hunter and won both rounds they were in my game. So, this is your warning everyone. Don't team. (I know they were together IRL, they told me later on when they apologized.)
Java has discovered my favourite hiding spot in qingce village. They never think to look up.
Remember the original wind windtrace? No one transformed there either. Everyone just used Mona or tall characters and climbed to the highest spot on the map

if you get the qingce village map an dont want to use a disguise, go by the old man (to the right of the hunter) and if the hunter gets close use transparency and climb to the top of the house as fast as you can
