I hate looking at pictures of leopard geckos with MBD it makes me so sad to see animals that are in pain. I don't understand how people can go into a store, say "i want that" and get a pet they know nothing about! I do have to say, I didn't know that you needed more than just calcium with D3, but, as soon as i found out (from your vids) i bought some :) Keep up the great vids
@@kloehrbear or actually isn't sand or gravel. Its ground up walnut which is easily digested. They have also said that they watch to see if their gecko eats too much when hunting.
My issue is that it's hard to feed her, because we have issues getting live bugs, and she won't eat powders. I have to mix food powder, and calcium, and she doesn't really like it.
i literally bought my first gecko a couple months ago, and there was one other gecko that came at the same time to that store. until today, that gecko was kept there, and the guy told us yesterday that he had stopped eating for no reason. Because everytime i went there for food i said that i felt so sorry for that one gecko not being taken to anyone's home, the guy ended up giving it to me. as soon as i got home, i realised it had mbd. I swear this channel has been saving me from so much trouble with both my geckos...i didn't even know i needed to have calcium in their tanks before coming to this video.. so summing this up, i was indeed lacking calcium in my first gecko's tank (not for long, thankfully), but it was mainly because i hadn't been informed of such by the store when i asked what they need and how often.
My leo has MBD from negelct from people and I been giving her calcuim worms and shes doing so well now her legs are still weird but shes no longer in pain shes even starting to push off them like normal geckos do im so proud of her process she can climb now and run shes so happy
@@daleferguson9017 not floppy but they were permanently bent slightly but I caught it early enough that he can still stand and move around close to normally
I definitely need the Nutrobal. I've only been giving Calcium with D3 all of Glory's life and even though she is healthy, she could be a lot healthier and it should make a noticeable difference in her. I'll grab some on my next outing to PetSmart. :)
I recently rescued a 16 year old male leopard gecko with severe metabolic bone disease, most notable in his jaw as it was almost boneless in appearance. I nursed him back to health with proper husbandry and liquid vitamins. He can now close his mouth completely and eat soft-shelled dubia roaches, though I make a point to give him freshly-shed juvies. I'm thankful for this video, and hope other rescuers can benefit their animals by providing them proper care.
My ex abondonded her lizard and I'm pretty sure the poor guy has this gonna have to try these tips he's only 6 months old to wish I would have known this sooner
Mine is six months old he die for mbd today and I did all the steps for the 2 week but he die in peace I got him from petco which was a bad choice but at least he got to Kiev out his past month is the best care I could provide they had like 20 of the in a ten gallon tank and he was a kinda of weak link after finding you channel I was able to give him what he needed but I was to late my step mom try to help but in the process she became attached to him and when he die to day she had thought she had failed let this be a warning to all that this is very serious and you should give your gift of all the nutrients it needs
when i saw my gecko shaking his legs i thought he was having a seizure, but now im even more worried. i feel so bad for him and i just want him to be better.
I would like to thank you for your videos they have been most helpful and entertaining. (I giggle everytime you say "VITAMIN".) I "inherited" 2 Leopard Geckos with MBD. A co-worker of mine, his wife and her friend are both elementary school teachers. They were given grants to purchase a classroom pet. They did not want a fish tank or the typical rodent (gerbil, mouse, or Hamster). They heard that Leopard Geckos were an easy beginner pet (I hate that phrase). They are cute and exotic they thought. So they went to a big box pet store where they could use their grant and purchased the 2 Leopard Geckos and 2 Leopard Geckos kits (about 5 months ago August 2020). Now because of the Covid-19 pandemic and they are not in the classroom everyday, and they spray the rooms every night, they could no longer keep them at school. So they have been living at their residents and being taken care of with the information that was relayed to them at time of purchase. My co-worker contacts me the other day, knowing I have had reptiles all my life (currently 3 Veiled Chameleons, and one Bearded Dragon) to ask me if I would want the 2 Leopard Geckos and their stuff. He then tells me they are not doing going and he thinks they may die. I was of course concerned for the pets and told him I would take them. Upon receiving them I noticed they did not look well. One of them (the male) is doing better then the other (the female). I've never had a case of MBD before, but I knew what it was when I saw it. Both Geckos front legs are soft and rubber, the female really never lifts her head up, the male does. The female tremors everytime you pick her up, and her jaw looks soft as well. So I go looking at what each set up has. (Each is identical.) 10 gallon tank with a screen lid, a brown reptile carpet, a plastic water dish, a plastic hid, a large driftwood /cork round, an under tank heater (fixed to the side, I moved it to the bottom of course), a small red heat light, a small white heat light, a long strip light with a florescent tube saying dessert on the bulb, a thermometer/humidity gauge, and some meal worms. No calcium or vitamins. The strip light does not say UVB, but when I go to that pet stores website it says it is a UVB rated for dessert reptiles (not happy with that, I like my UVB bulbs to be marked with UVB and what their output is). The strip lamp for the bulb has a thick clear Plexiglas bottom. Now I know UVB does not penetrate plexiglass or glass. So I then went back to my co-workervabd asked were you giving it calcium and vitamins. He said no, that the pet store said either UVB bulb (then he described the strip light and dessert labeled bulb) or powder would work. He then said they opted for the bulb. I pointed out to him that reptiles need both, and UVB does not go through plexiglass and his strip light has a plexiglass bottom. So for the past 5 months these two have had no calcium or vitamins. They are in bad shape. Now I told him this as a matter of factly not condemning nor scolding just as information. He understood, and was glad I took them because they would of died. I informed him they still might, but I'll do my best. Thanks to your videos, I am attempting to nurture them back to health. My exotic vet is closed on the weekends, so I am planning on taking them to be seen on Monday. Like I told him, I'm not an expert but have had reptiles all my life and thanks to people like you I am able to further my education and do what needs to be done. Thank you. Also, wish me luck!
I adopted a gecko with MBD today and this will help lots in caring for my new friend. Have a heat lamp and a light that I turn off at night. I gave him calcium with no d3 in his water and I’m getting calcium powder for his food. He has a UBV light for his D3 and he’s doing well for his first day. He is just a baby and he only has minor MBD but the pet store was giving him free to a good home and as I had been on the hunt for a gecko and I had all the supplies and research to own one, but no info on MBD so this helps a lot!
My friend just gave me her leopard gecko, I’m pretty sure just from a first glance that he has MBD and I’m hoping and praying I can help him. Wish me luck!
I’ve been trying to get proper vitamins for quite a while. Thanks for giving a specific brand! I found it online! Thank you! Edit: another thing is that my gecko hates hand feeding. I also can’t find roaches but I feed him crickets. Also my gecko doesn’t have MBD I just like watching your videos to make sure my gecko is healthy 😁
thank you for this. today I rescued a Leo from petco. she's kinda skinny and she's showing signs of MBD and I'm hoping I can help her pull through. so again thank you for your help.
First time owner .. told the pet store we needed absolutely everything he would need ..after about a month he started refusing to eat went back to the shop to c if I was doing anything wrong they said up the temps even tho they were already set to the perfect temp I do more research and realize he does not have calcium and or vitamins so I go back to the shop and buy them ..put some calcium and vitiman powder in a dish so he could get to it as needed also got some electrolyte/ vitiman liquid and have been soaking him in that as well and putting a few drops I to his moist enclosure and finally hes eating on his own again and regaining more energy ..thanks for all the info
Huh. Similar story. I was pretty new to reptiles, did a little bit of research before hand. The shop told me "everything I needed to know" and gave me a small viv, a heat mat, a water bowl thing, a small cave and a thermometer. I cut a hollow log in half as a second hide. They gave us mealworms and a calcium powder. Not once did they mention we needed vitamin powder, and I had no clue it was needed. Fast forward a year and my gecko has very bad mdb. Its front legs look deflated and have little to no movement whatsoever. Its jaw isn't jutting out, but it can only move by using the back legs to push him forward along the floor. And I thought this was because he wasn't eating. Got to a point I was worried, so I researched it. I'm really sad that all this is my fault, but because my parents split up my mom feeds him too much while i'm gone and I can only handle him every other week, so he barely gets handled and won't eat because he ate too much, got fat, and stopped eating. He barely eats now, has really bad mdb and i'm in the process of getting vitamin powder.
PSA I just adopted a 1 year old leopard gecko with MBD and she just wouldn’t eat anything! As she came with mealworms (Don’t worry! I’m going to buy some silk worms or butter worms tomorrow!) I decided to crush them up with some calcium and mix it up and make a little cake type thing and she ate it! She sniffed it a little bit and ate probably 5 worms! So excited as the previous owner said she’s barely eaten in months! I will update all of you tomorrow when I get the other more calcium-enriched worms and let you know if she likes them smushed up as she did with mealworms!
So I have a question, I was given a leopard gecko with MBD 3 years ago and nothing seems to work. I've tried giving him mealworms, crickets and tried de-legging the crickets but he just doesn't seem interested. I talked to a leopard gecko breeder and asked him his opinions and he suggested feeding him repashy (crested gecko food) since it has nutrients. He eats it, and goes into shed but hasn't gained weight at all. His tail is plump and full of calcium, but I worry that he's non getting the full nutrition that he needs. I found a good reptile vet near me and will be taking him in soon, once I get more money. What should I do in the meantime?
Hello! I have not been a good care taker of my leopard gecko and I am looking to make him happy, right now I am replace the calci sand the petco people gave us and ordering calcium, vitamins, and dubia roaches, after all of this I will check the temps of my cage, then if they are right, I will get another hide and possible a second mat if it is not, I am suspecting my gecko has MBD and I feel awful as he cant even eat very well, wish me luck on restoring this geckos home and, well, his life. Thanks for this video or I would have probably never noticed.
aw that sucks :/ someone went into pet co or petsmart and asked where the reptile vits were and the person said that they dont need them unless theyre ill :O
My leopard gecko; Fruitloop, has MBD and I’m very worried about her. It’s still the early stages, because the only part effected so far is her right arm. Thank you for this video! I am going to give it all I got to make sure my gecko is healthy once again!
Nice video, i would add a little big detail about gut loading your gecko's pray (it is mandatory on chameleons also) . Never feed the common lettuce variety to your insects cause when you feed your gecko with insects that are fed on lettuce it will not metabolise the much needed calcium they would provide(even if the insects are dusted with supplement!). There are other greenery that you can use to feed your insect pray. There was a research paper about MBD on chameleons that were fed insects fed on lettuce but it is not on my hands these days. I hope i was of help.
I'm rather concerned about my leopard gecko, pearl. She isn't very big, yet she's about seven now, and her back feet are becoming twisted to the back, and she's having trouble walking very well, kind of just dragging herself with her front legs. I dust her mealworms every day, have pure calcium in the tank and yet she doesn't really seem to be getting better. I love her so much, and i really don't want her to get worse... so if anyone can give me some advice on how to help her out, I'd be grateful.
Joe Deezy don't worry, I took her to the vet and it was a past injury, and she will be ok. We're going to get some vitamins for her, and she'll get a little better.
I just want to say that this has probably been the most help to me. The first time I looked up MBD I was deathly afraid my gecko would not make a recover, she is in an early stage of MBD and she's walking on her elbows, I'm just now starting calcium supplements I just need to know if she will make a full recovery.
@@Dmahmoud17 well it’s been about 3 years and she is perfectly healthy she still walks with her elbows but she’s adapted to it and added so much character. I want to thank you guys for the follow up.
i wish I could add a photo, but i just took in a leo with severe mbd and today is her first full day with me. She is dangling to life by a thread, but still has some sass, so we fight on.
my baby has this I'm going to the store to get that nutrobal stuff! Thanks this really helped! Oh Also if your gecko won't lick the calcium off your hand you can mix it with water and get a syringe or something and see if they take that. My Ziggy loves doing that!
Ella Bee aw im glad i could help. Im not 100% sure about the mixing powder with water, but if you do use a syringe, dont spray it in their mouths otherwise they could choke. :)
I treated my leopard gecko's mbd I was quite scared and I felt bad that I just let my gecko suffer and now he is very healthy and active. I asked the pet store why my gecko wasn't eating and they told me some facts but really didn't help I bout some repashy calcium plus and I took a little and mixed it in its water and then I just decided to put a little dish of it and it started to get better and now he his!!
resssl did the bones reset/fix themselves? I have a geck with mbd,I actually found this out today... I had no idea what was happening to him :-: it made me really sad that he was suffering and I couldn’t do anything...
Omg, my leapord gheko Is 6 months old and has mbd I done what you said squishy up the meal worm and he started to eat It and ended up eating 6!!! He basest eaten In more than a week!!! Thank you xxx
I have a disabled leo coming soon (were waiting for my ship kit to arrive) but we rescued him from someone starving him to death. He has pretty bad MBD.
Thank you so much my led bulb died and we couldn’t afford to get one for two weeks and my Leo’s front arm started to curl a tiny bit I will be changing her diet and get a calcium dish agin thank you
hi, i just bought a new leopard gecko from nature and of course, she is 1 year old, has a chubby tail but of course i can notice the difference with healthy bodies to not so healthy. i am guessing she forsake has a case of MBD because her arms and legs are kind of droopy and her front arms are sort of disformed. she always slithers more around the tank rather than picking her whole body up. her upper torso is larger than her bottom but she is still walking on my arm and enjoys my warmth. it is my first day getting her. i was thinking after 2 days of settling in to her tank, if she doesn't eat or have any calcium from my finger trick ( which i find may be a great idea to try) i will bring her to the vet. the nature pet store told me she was fed yesterday. just curious as for any other advice i can get.
I resuced a leopard gecko with bad MBD. I bought a liquid calcium to put in his water bowl. Hopefully that will help him get better soon. Noodle is my male gecko that I rescued that has MBD. Any more advice I can do. He finally made improvement yesterday and ate some food and water. I ordered some grub pie because I watched one of your videos on it an I am hoping that will give him a boost. I watched almost all of your videos because I have my female gecko name banana. Thank you for your help, I appricate your videos soo much. peace.
alright my recently rescued gecko has MBD and it's and a really bad stage...I'm easing her into getting used to me ...but anyhow the previous owners told me how the think she broke her leg at one point on some repti carpet ..and that it prefers being on sand and that is the only requirement they want to have, if I took the gecko i should ease it's pain and help it with providing sand ....he was very set on that..I know treating my new gecko will take a while but how bad is bad..like to the point of getting it fixed ??? also I'm not going to keep my word with the guy sorry sands cause more issues than your helping 😐
I've had my Lusistic Leopard Gecko for over a year and she has suddenly started to not use her rear legs so obviously you think oh no MBD i always have calcium and supliments in the Viv but I'll take your advise and get her to lick it off my finger. Fingers crossed it helps good video by the way always come to them if i get a bit confused by things I've never encountered related to geckos.
also had this issue. its very likely he has mouth rot as well since they often go hand in hand, which makes it painful for him to eat. you should see a vet if you can to get medication to treat it.
Anthony Tashijian than that's means he's a adult if he's a adult you need to feed him every 3-4 days if you feed him everyday there are gunna be problems
@@hauntedvirus under six months would be everyday. But that was a year ago so....now that your gecko is over a year, you should feed them every 3-4 days, 1 day calcium, wait 2 days, another day of calcium, wait 2 days, and then vitamins and minerals, wait two days. Then repeat the cycle.
We think that my new baby gecko may have calcium deficiency, or metabolic disease. He has recently broken his left back leg and it has seemed to have healed. Until tonight when we noticed that the same leg in a different place was bending the wrong way and he can’t walk. Please give some advice, we have already been giving him more calcium with the food but I think we need to do more! I’m actually rlly worried 😟
My leopard gecko coco has MBD I have been watching your videos and done everything you have done but she still got it and in worried I’m doing everything I can do you have any tips?
Honestly I luv u Ms. Gecko Guru! If I believe any opinion it's yours lol anyways I thought i was doing perfect w my gecko until I realized that meal and wax worms aren't enough calcium😔 also that I need a separate d3!! My new lil gal has a limp arm now I noticed and sadly it's all my fault... Fixing this as soon as pet store opens lol but anyways, THANKS FOR SHARING EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO!
Hi there! I was wondering if I could get a bit of advice from you. I currently own a 7 year old Fat Tailed Gecko whom I believe has this disease, as he walks on the back of his hands and elbows. His back legs are fine and he doesn't seem to be in any pain from what I can tell and I have all of the supplements and nutrients you've shown in this video as well as I've taken all the steps to treat this though it hasn't made much of a difference. I was wondering if there was anything else I could do and if every case of this disease causes pain, because I obviously don't want my gecko to be in any kind of pain. I don't know if there's a genetic factor in this because I did originally get him at a pet shop that was infamous for inbreeding when I was in Grade 6 and I obviously was not aware of this when I bought him. Please let me know what you think of this and thank you so much!
Hey I absolutely love ur videos and I'm currently rehabing a beautiful baby snack snow and I use a product by sticky tongue farms I'm not sure if u can get it where u are but it has over 50 vital minerals its amazing called miner-all just figured I'd share that and I'm going to try the dabbing the finger in some powder that is a great idea as well as mashing bugs I have made slurry with bugs and repti boost by flukes or with any type of gecko powder food mix as the solid
So, do i have to have my heat mat on a timer? i just leave the mat on ALL the time... is that bad?? should i get a timer? Thank's! Great video as allways!
Kyle Nelson She puts it on a timer, because it doesn't need to be on at night. this is because the Leo is awake, and doesn't need a place to lie down and absorb heat. So just turn it on when you wake up, and off at night if you can't get a timer :)
I rescued a Leo with what I believe is mbd. Idk for sure but he’s 6 months old at least and weighs 8.6 grams. He is tiny. I’ve been assist feeding him, he might be blind but I haven’t figured that out yet. He tried to bite me but he’s so weak he can’t. Idk if it’s bad but I put some calcium and vitamins in the water bc the people said he drinks a lot. He had shed stuck on his toes too and they didn’t know anything about Leo’s. They had him on sand and had a white light for his heat. He has red eyes so they’re sensitive. They told me he hardly ever opens his eyes but since I’ve had him he does. He was never handled bc they were afraid of him. They didn’t even know he needed calcium and vitamins. They fed him dried mealworms and turtle food. He’s beautiful he is a blazing blizzard. I hope I am able to get him back to good health. They named him newton but since he was never handled I figured he didn’t know his name, so I renamed him hank ❤️
My gecko started to show symptoms of MBD isolated to his right front leg it seems. I found out about needing to give him calcium and I am not giving him a liquid calcium and powder calcium. I also supply him with a vitamin supplement mixed in with the powder calcium. Will this be enough?
I need help with my leopard gecko.. I have no idea what happened, but one of my geckos got a bad wound.. I don't know what to do, I'm trying to find out how to heal her wound..
i just took home a gecko with MBD from my job, i hope he makes it he’s really disfigured and he cannot chew 💔 very nervous, my first time trying to treat it on a gecko
ANY ADVISE My geckos have not been good eaters since I got them late last year so I've had to behead mealworms and make them lick the goo for them to realise they like it and slowly I've had one of the two start to eat ones I drop in front of it but the other is less active and will only seem to eat when I offer but neither has lost too much weight for me to become concerned and as a test I count the worms in and out to see if they are being eaten. They are not
Is there anything similar to the Nutrobal that I can use? I have been looking it up and Im not really sure what I am looking for. (Just so you guys know I got surgery and left my gecko with my boyfriend (now my ex but its totally unrelated lol) and I got him back recently and he developed MBD because he didnt take care of him properly. Honestly its all my fault he is sick.)
Rep-cal has the 2! Just look under vimans foe reptiles. Much easier then all this. Once you get the hang of it you can switch after doing your rescerach on possibly a better powder one is called with a pink sticker chalcium with vitamin D3 ultra fine powder very important to keep ur crickets sepperate tank and get them with a bag of powder or a container and have twizers unless u brab tbem like i do but u must me firm but gentle.
make sure you always give calcium and i usually give vitamins 2 times a week if i feed them every other day but if they need it you can give them vitamins every day
I have feeding dishes but i dont know how much calcium and how much multivitiman to put in the dish so if someone could help me out and give me some answers that would be great
hello, I have a problem. my leo with mbd doesn't like eating food dusted with calcium (both pure calcium and calcium with D3). one of the only ways I can get her to eat calcium is by making her lick it off my finger but I feel like that isn't helping much. what should I do???
Growvee For my gecko, He didn't eat either. When handling him, I put calcium on my fingers and waited for him to lick it off. He didn't eat much still. I just did that for a few days, and he began eating after a bit. When you feed him, Put the bowl in a dish so they can't escape (if they're meal worms) and see how many are in there next time you handle him. He may eat when you aren't around.
Me and my partner rescued a 6 year old leopard gecko recently, and he hasnt eaten anything in the last couple weeks that we've had him. He's still pretty chunky, but I know the only thing his previous owner fed him was superworms and waxworms. His front legs shake a bit when he walks, but he doesn't appear to display the other symptoms of MBD. Should we just be patient, or is there a problem still...?
he probably wasnt on the best diet. the problem with giving the geckos wax worms too often is that they're like sweets to them ,and they will just refuse anything else. I'd keep trying a little everyday. But cut out the wax worms lol. Eventually he'll have to give in and eat something.
I need help I have five leopard geckos and three are babies. But one of the babies are oozing from their private parts, her legs look funky and her right side of the face look melted, this has happened over a few days and I'm scared
Im going to be taking my baby to the vet I just got him today and hes has a twitchy led when he walks an just looks unhappy he is super young so im hoping he snaps back from this I know for a flack he wasn't getting the food heat or anything any advice on how to keep him comfortable tell I find a vet?
I just got a leopard gecko yesterday for free because this guy brought it into Petco saying he didn't want it anymore while I was there shopping for Eco Earth for my hermit crabs, so the cashier asked me if I wanted a free gecko. The two people working there both have leopard geckos and noticed a lot of stuff wrong with the gecko because the owner neglected it so badly for so long. I've never had a gecko before but I stayed up till 5 am studying them haha. Unfortunately I do think he has metabolic bone disease, mainly because he has a horrid underbite. He came with a bunch of crickets already in his cage so I powdered them with calcium and tried feeding them to him, but he's not eating at all. I'm about to go out on a hunt for things that I can put into his tank and new foods that I can give him. I'm hoping once I set up his habitat and he gets used to it, he'll start eating and everything. Fingers crossed
I’m not sure if this is bad or not but my leopard geckos finger looks really weird. Her finger is kinda sideways I don’t really know how to describe it well.
Whats the exact leopard gecko in the thumbnail becuase i have the same one hut got it off a frisnd as they couldnt feed him cas his duaghter would scream
my leopard gecko doesn't have MBD but I tried to feed him calcium off my hand and he bit me. The funny part is that I can put my finger in her face and she will just move her head away. I was laughing so hard while typing this.
I hate looking at pictures of leopard geckos with MBD it makes me so sad to see animals that are in pain. I don't understand how people can go into a store, say "i want that" and get a pet they know nothing about!
I think my leopard gecko might have this. I'm gonna do my best to help him. Wish me luck

(I giggle everytime you say "VITAMIN".)
I "inherited" 2 Leopard Geckos with MBD.
Thanks for making this video for anybody who needs it. It made me tear up though.
yeah its a sad illness, fortunately it's easily avoided.
Thank you you basicly saved my geckos life🦎
First time owner .. told the pet store we needed absolutely everything he would need ..after about a month he started refusing to eat went back to the shop to c if I was doing anything wrong they said up the temps even tho they were already set to the perfect temp I do more research and realize he does not have calcium and or vitamins so I go back to the shop and buy them ..put some calcium and vitiman powder in a dish so he could get to it as needed also got some electrolyte/ vitiman liquid and have been soaking him in that as well and putting a few drops I to his moist enclosure and finally hes eating on his own again and regaining more energy ..thanks for all the info
PSA
I just adopted a 1 year old leopard gecko with MBD and she just wouldn’t eat anything! I will update all of you tomorrow when I get the other more calcium-enriched worms and let you know if she likes them smushed up as she did with mealworms!
took in 4 baby leos with severe mbd, dont think they’ll make it but thank you so much for this video
It’s been 5 month did they make it?
The pic at 0:08 looks very similar to my little Gizmo. Besides the fact that Gizmo is healthy and happy!
Nice video as aways, very informational!
thank you :D
You’re not supposed to feed leopard geckos any other lizard foods. Leopards aren’t supposed to eat fruit as they’re insectivores
Thanks so much for making this video my brothers gecko developed mbd and I have to try and fix it
That Mario thing scared me so bad! Great informative video!
haha, yeah sorry if the sound effect was a bit too loud :') thanks!
This is something ever leopard gecko should know about. Thanks for sharing
yeah i wish people looked up about leos health more :)
I agree, petshops here in NY, USA really push them on people also without having any legitimate info on how to care for them.
aw that sucks :/ someone went into pet co or petsmart and asked where the reptile vits were and the person said that they dont need them unless theyre ill :O
yea sounds like those guys. I had one tell me about how the pre-anal pores are located on the back of the legs and thats how you sex them
hahaaa :') oh dear!
Plz answer back so do i make a bowl of straight calcium or what do I put in it food wise?
i went to petsmart and saw a baby with this condition. I almost broke out with tears
I got a baby with this today. It’s so so sad, lucky it’s only mild but I hope to help him get a speedy recovery.
@@surzeekanimations You got this ‼️
I'm rather concerned about my leopard gecko, pearl.
Misted Pearl Leopard Gecko
+Leopard Gecko @Leopard Gecko
Plz help this guy or girl they need help
Joe Deezy don't worry, I took her to the vet and it was a past injury, and she will be ok. We're going to get some vitamins for her, and she'll get a little better.
Misted Pearl ok cool
Great video 👍🏻
Great video, helped me a lot as I've just rescued a female leopard gecko that I think has mbd because her ankles and jaw look very unusual
I just want to say that this has probably been the most help to me. The first time I looked up MBD I was deathly afraid my gecko would not make a recover, she is in an early stage of MBD and she's walking on her elbows, I'm just now starting calcium supplements I just need to know if she will make a full recovery.
You'll also need vitamins
how did it go?
@@Dmahmoud17 well it’s been about 3 years and she is perfectly healthy she still walks with her elbows but she’s adapted to it and added so much character. I want to thank you guys for the follow up.
Thankyou so much, you helped me save my leopard gecko, she goes crazy for butter worms!!
i wish I could add a photo, but i just took in a leo with severe mbd and today is her first full day with me. She is dangling to life by a thread, but still has some sass, so we fight on.
El Ve how is she 🙁
my baby has this I'm going to the store to get that nutrobal stuff!
yeah i figured i let her lick it off the syringe
oh right, thats cool :)
I treated my leopard gecko's mbd I was quite scared and I felt bad that I just let my gecko suffer and now he is very healthy and active.
I asked the pet store why my gecko wasn't eating and they told me some facts but really didn't help I bout some repashy calcium plus and I took a little and mixed it in its water and then I just decided to put a little dish of it and it started to get better and now he his!!
make sure u have the heating right
resssl did the bones reset/fix themselves? I have a geck with mbd,I actually found this out today... I had no idea what was happening to him :-: it made me really sad that he was suffering and I couldn’t do anything...
I’ve been using repashi calcium plus with every feeding and I woke up today to see him not walking straight😭
@@BigSmoke-iw4zo make sure you are supplementing him with D3 aswell
This video is so helpful thank you so much 💖
Gonna try this Ty!
Thank you so much! This helped me so much!
Thank you, very helpful 😊
@Anthony im thinking of trying roaches too, so im looking up the same thing, not sure how many to feed.
my friend is fighting back the point that his gecko has not been getting better what should I do? please help
Thank you for your help, I appricate your videos soo much.
peace.
So nutrobal is vitamins and the cricket dust stuff is the calcium?
alright my recently rescued gecko has MBD and it's and a really bad stage...I'm easing her into getting used to me ...but anyhow the previous owners told me how the think she broke her leg at one point on some repti carpet ..and that it prefers being on sand and that is the only requirement they want to have, if I took the gecko i should ease it's pain and help it with providing sand ....he was very set on that..I know treating my new gecko will take a while but how bad is bad..like to the point of getting it fixed ??? also I'm not going to keep my word with the guy sorry sands cause more issues than your helping 😐
The previous owner was an idiot. If it broke its leg, why didn't he help it???
Thank you so much just saved a leopard gecko
Carlos Jimenez aww no problem :D
will repta boost work? my leopard gecko is skinny and not eating. His arms a little bent and his jaw looks like its bent too
I've had my Lusistic Leopard Gecko for over a year and she has suddenly started to not use her rear legs so obviously you think oh no MBD i always have calcium and supliments in the Viv but I'll take your advise and get her to lick it off my finger. Fingers crossed it helps good video by the way always come to them if i get a bit confused by things I've never encountered related to geckos.
my gecko has MBD and wont eat any of the supplements or anything else for that matter, any tips on getting him to eat?
also had this issue. its very likely he has mouth rot as well since they often go hand in hand, which makes it painful for him to eat. you should see a vet if you can to get medication to treat it.
I Use Dubia Roaches And I Wanted To Know How Often To Feed Him And How Many Roaches Per Feeding.
He's Over a Year
Anthony Tashijian than that's means he's a adult if he's a adult you need to feed him every 3-4 days if you feed him everyday there are gunna be problems
Gamer Tearwind107 mine is 1 month 2 months old how much do I feed him
geckos 6 months and under require feeding everyday
@@hauntedvirus under six months would be everyday. But that was a year ago so....now that your gecko is over a year, you should feed them every 3-4 days, 1 day calcium, wait 2 days, another day of calcium, wait 2 days, and then vitamins and minerals, wait two days. Then repeat the cycle.
Virus XD everyday
Can u add the sups to their water?
i need urgent help! my leopard gecko has hypervitaminosis D! and no there's no exotic vets where i live, what do i do?
So, do i have to have my heat mat on a timer? i just leave the mat on ALL the time... is that bad?? should i get a timer? Thank's!
Great video as allways!
Yes, leave you're heat mat on 24/7, all the time.
*your
Kyle Nelson She puts it on a timer, because it doesn't need to be on at night. this is because the Leo is awake, and doesn't need a place to lie down and absorb heat. So just turn it on when you wake up, and off at night if you can't get a timer :)
is it ok if i put the calcium in the water?
How much calcium should I give my gecko? I got him at Petco and he looks like he has MBD I’m trying to get him better.
Will this be enough?
yes but dont give too much of the vitamin supplement of he could overdose, just use a pinch mixed with the normal calcium + d3 twice a week
Do you think im still able to go bio active with mine, I "rescued" him and he now just army crawls with his 2 front legs.
I need help with my leopard gecko.. I have no idea what happened, but one of my geckos got a bad wound.. I don't know what to do, I'm trying to find out how to heal her wound..
i just took home a gecko with MBD from my job, i hope he makes it he’s really disfigured and he cannot chew 💔 very nervous, my first time trying to treat it on a gecko
is the Rep-Cal okay to use for vitamins?
ANY ADVISE My geckos have not been good eaters since I got them late last year so I've had to behead mealworms and make them lick the goo for them to realise they like it and slowly I've had one of the two start to eat ones I drop in front of it but the other is less active and will only seem to eat when I offer but neither has lost too much weight for me to become concerned and as a test I count the worms in and out to see if they are being eaten. They are not
Will the bones fix/reset themselves? Good vid btw,now I know what’s wrong with my poor geck :-:
Yugen Floyd if it’s bad enough, no. Give them multivitamins and calcium without d3 and zoo med’s 5% tube UVB
My gecko seems healthy but there's one thing I'm missing and I asked about it at petco but they said I didn't need it it's the heat mat
you DEFINITLEY need a heat mat or your gecko could die as he/she would be too cold
Emmybunny my geckos have had no heat mat for 14 years
Emmybunny do you at least use some form of heat?
Michael Smith Your Geckos aren’t digesting properly then, and haven’t for 14 years. Lol.
I just rescued 4 leopard gecko with this disease. If i follow all of this steps and do al this things will they be cured???? Please awnser I need help
Will crested geckos eat calcium / vitamin powder?
Rep-cal has the 2! Just look under vimans foe reptiles. Much easier then all this. Once you get the hang of it you can switch after doing your rescerach on possibly a better powder one is called with a pink sticker chalcium with vitamin D3 ultra fine powder very important to keep ur crickets sepperate tank and get them with a bag of powder or a container and have twizers unless u brab tbem like i do but u must me firm but gentle.
How many days do you give the vitamins?
make sure you always give calcium and i usually give vitamins 2 times a week if i feed them every other day but if they need it you can give them vitamins every day
I have feeding dishes but i dont know how much calcium and how much multivitiman to put in the dish so if someone could help me out and give me some answers that would be great
hello, I have a problem. my leo with mbd doesn't like eating food dusted with calcium (both pure calcium and calcium with D3). one of the only ways I can get her to eat calcium is by making her lick it off my finger but I feel like that isn't helping much. what should I do???
I got my gecko from pet smart his bones were already bent is there a way to fix his bones?
I need help I have five leopard geckos and three are babies. But one of the babies are oozing from their private parts, her legs look funky and her right side of the face look melted, this has happened over a few days and I'm scared
i have a leopard geckos and she has MBD and she will not eat an advice if you have an advice responed and PLZ HELP ME OUT
I rescued a little guy with mbd and he is so cute. His name is Leopold
I bought some flukers vitamin powder for 13$ at a pet shop and found it for 1-2 USD online
Im going to be taking my baby to the vet I just got him today and hes has a twitchy led when he walks an just looks unhappy he is super young so im hoping he snaps back from this I know for a flack he wasn't getting the food heat or anything any advice on how to keep him comfortable tell I find a vet?
I have a ten gallon tank. is this better
To have a proper heat gradient it's probably better to get at least a 20 gallon
How is he now?
I’m not sure if this is bad or not but my leopard geckos finger looks really weird. Her finger is kinda sideways I don’t really know how to describe it well.
thanks @stephen:)
Leopard Gecko how often does MBD happen?
when do you use the vitamins
put a pinch in with the normal calcium+d3 twice a week when you dust your crickets. at least thats what my vet told me
Whats the exact leopard gecko in the thumbnail becuase i have the same one hut got it off a frisnd as they couldnt feed him cas his duaghter would scream
i use a vitamin spray and sprinkle calcium powder on the food
my leopard gecko doesn't have MBD but I tried to feed him calcium off my hand and he bit me. The funny part is that I can put my finger in her face and she will just move her head away. I was laughing so hard while typing this.
I usually feed my gecko 4 mealworms and 2 crickets a day because he is still about 5 months old is that okay? Thanks :)
