He, along with sharon, tzipi livni, and a few others, are partly responsible for the current war in gaza. If not for that horrible action/decision, current war would not be happening. As PM, he was in charge when the 2nd lebanon war happened. olmert stopped the campaign when Israel was winning. he had an opportunity to take care of hisbullah once and for all. he didn't. His actions and decisions led to the situation Israel find it self in today. Israel's issues with hamas/gaza and hizbullah/lebanon, are to a very large extent, his fault. olmert is the last person, who should bring up these issues.
The hostage situation is one with no good solutions. But one thing for sure is the world's response, the UN response, the ICC response and medis's biased coverage of the war collectively embolden jihadists to commit attrocities and take hostages over and over again. It just reminds us why Israel needs to exist, that even if one by one they all turn their backs on us, we can still go out fighting to defend our own people. Never again may be up to us and no one else.
