In Dutch: Vorig jaar raakte in na een aardige synchroniciteit en via derden in contact met His Holiness de 17e Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje en kreeg ik te horen dat ik en mijn vrouw en kinderen welkom waren om een TV-interview met hem op te nemen. Met het hele gezin de caravan en de bergen in naar een onbekende doch prachtige bestemming. Uiteindelijk zelfs speciale initiaties voor alle monniken (die jaren in retraite zouden gaan de dag erna) mogen filmen in de tempel de dag erna, wat een ervaring. Eenmaal net terug thuis na de reis naar Frankrijk brak de rem-as van onze auto: de duurste Tv-special ooit bleek dus later (maar ook een van de meest enerverende en unieke ervaringen en wie weet zijn we behoed voor een auto-ongeluk op minder vlakke en lage bodem!?) Nu met tranen in ogen kijken naar beelden van onze kinderen die erbij mochten zijn en zelfs zich mochten vermaken met het fonteintje bij de persoonlijke Boeddha van His Holiness de 17e Karmapa (we hadden droge kleren bij ons...).

Regarding the criticism of the guru's gestures, manner, mistakes, etc. A true student sees them all as teaching. See them all as blessing, and see them all as doorways to enter the Dharma. They may point out to you your own shallow silliness, your attachment, a direction to go in practice, or a mirror of yourself you may need to look at more carefully. Or all of these at once, since many beings with many levels of understanding are present, not just human beings. Buddhas teach in sixty different ways of voice. Shamar rinpoche is widely known for the role he played in the crisis that engulfed the Karma Kagyu lineage following the death of the 16th Karmapa, a role that earned him immense gratitude by karma kagyu followers, He protected the Karma Kagyu tradition and his students in ways many cannot even comprehend, freeing them from sectarian hegemony and the mire of Sino-Tibetan geopolitics. And in doing so, he triumphed over unimaginable adversity.
Soo Your judgment was implemented by faith not implemented by reason , and logic !! I personally respect both Karmapa for many reason !! You cannot just simply say who is real and who is wrong without having proper knowledge! It’s possible to reincarnate 3 or 4 karmapas even more !! If need be ..,

I wad 7 when o met the 16th Karmapa. I met uygen and that's. Ugyen laughed and didn't give a teaching seriously rolling his eyes. Tjaye always is kind serious and reflects true compassion. While humor is shown I good spirit, hw is forward. Urgen mocked a reaching and no true guru would.

I think it's entirely possible, that the Karmapa, chose to incarnate, into more than one body. Demonstrating, the duality of everything and His Divine nature, it is unusual but entirely within His capabilities. For He is, the Living Buddha, no less and an emanation of Buddha Maitreya, whose coming is imminent. Which I might add, is a good thing and timely..

I realise the controversy and confusion over two Karmapas being enthroned etc but I enjoyed this question and answer.
Everyone is free to decide, and the Karmapas have nothing to do with the "big controversy". Be enlightened in your response though instead of blurting out second hand opinions.

his right hand and a birthmark on his face” ) I need clarification from the Thaye Dorje about the 10th Shamar-Gurkha-property-Tibet-Manchu events that led to , among others , the 10th Shamar to commit suicide by taking poison in Nepal , Yangpachen and estates confiscated , the Shamars Vajra Crown confiscated , and Shamar incarnations banned(since 1793? to about 1963? ).

Shamar requested his holiness to withdraw the candidate but his holiness declined the request as his holiness already declared to public, thats is shamar side ,just to inform you that Ugyen Thinley Dorjee was recognized and replaced on throne based on previous karmapa secret relic kept inside the locate which was given to Situ by 16th karmapa , so Situ rinpoche and Chinese authorities claimed he is true karmapa, but Situ rinpoche refused to send that secret relic Letter to forensic investigation!
