Take Flight With WonderFil's New Block of the Month! 🐦

We are excited to announce a brand new block of the month for 2024! Bird Watcher. This adorable, bird themed quilt will keep you busy all year. Each month we will release a brand new block, featuring a unique bird for you to stitch or quilt. And this year we have created 2 versions of the quilt, so you can choose between foundation paper piecing or wool appliqué!
If you're stitching along with the Wool Appliqué version of the quilt we have 3 different thread packs to help you out! One pack of Ellana, our 12wt wool thread made for wool appliqué. And 2 Eleganza packs, in both solid and variegated colours. This 8wt, Perle cotton will be perfect for adding decorative stitches to your birds! Both Eleganza packs come in a collectors BOM tin. Reuse it for storage, or decor in your sewing room 😱 This year we are also offering pre-cut wool kits for our wool appliqué birds! Order your kits all at once, and get them mailed to your home monthly to make keeping up with the pattern easier than ever 😊
Interested in the FPP quilt? We also have a piecing, and quilting pack available 😁 Our piecing pack features 3 colours of DecoBob, our 80wt cottonized polyester thread. And be sure to check out our quilting pack too, packed full of some of our favourite cotton quilting threads. Spagetti (12wt) and Konfetti (50wt). We've also selected 2 collections of @andoverfabrics , depending on if you prefer a more modern or vintage look. More details on this in the patterns!

What are your needle recommendations on the wool hand embroidery?

We recommend an embroidery #7 or a chenille #24! It has a loose twist meant to better coat the edges of appliqué so you want a needle with a large eye to make treading a bit easier 🙂
