This game has really grabbed me by the eyeballs but I can't say why. I'd love a gameplay video to see if it really is as good as I want it to be before committing to buying it.
Having played it and due to the fact its a Mark Herman design (he never designs a bad game) you won't go wrong. That said how things are done in the game are procedure oriented an no game is right for every player. Right now unless I do a series of videos much like my Omaha Beachhead at breaks in the action, I don't have the storage to do a long play through.
I was thinking that myself not being color blind. Does the video make things look different with respect to Red Green than if you were viewing in natural light? In other words can you see some color in video that you can't see in person?
A very fine game to learn something about the historical mechanics of that War. From the historical point of view maybe to remember that the antient author of the first book to the topic TUKYDIDES: THE PELEPONESIC WAR had been fired by Perikles because of his failings as an Admiral. Tukydides let drown the Athenic seaman to persute the Spartan fleet after a major sea battle So the game, based on his published memories still come with an agenda against Perikles. ( In the game Tukydides has a higher pointage as the leader Perikles ) Only problem. THE SIZE. For a game played solitaire IT NEEDS TO MUCH SPACE the way it is desingned. A normal living room is cluddered when you built it up.And not everyone has an American like Hobby Room with enough space. Other games are hence bettter designed like the classics KING MAKER or HANNIBAL hich don´t require such proportions. So the SIUTABILITY for a SOLITAIRE GAME is FAILED. - at least in this nostalgic design. A more practical overhall for real Solitäre Players had been better.
Thanks for watching. For the relatively few combat units on the board, the game does take up some table space due to the charts and tables. Unfortunately its difficult to "cannibalize" use of the map area because of the markers placed to devastate as forces move towards their destination. The plus is that the game plays fairly quickly once you are familiar with the mechanics, so you won't have to keep up the game long to reach a conclusion.
Later in the written description is went on to say "Also never stated the problem with the map - it has black print for place locations against a dark blue background in certain places making it difficult to read".
I think they are both a bit lacking. That said, i believe that this new cover painting will help to sell copies of the game as it is striking compared to many games out there.

It is a very nice looking game and I like the map graphics and larger counters more so than the Victory Games first edition.
