      They released them to Australia, USA during end of the CB peak most CBrs had their collection so it became hard to sell premium

    Had that problem too on my Cobra 148 Gtl, change the audio I.C., recapped, lots of transistors replaced, AM modulator replaced, reflowed cold solders and etc. still no luck☹️… If I don’t use it in weeks and turn it on, crackling sound comes back in a couple of hours. On AM transmit crackling sound goes with it, especially when mic gain is at max setting but in sideband transmit it does not, only in receive it’s crackling.

      Check tantelums around vco, and there is a green 10uf tantelum up the back of radio left side 1" from finals 1" from last side case, replace it

      Thanks Paul! It’s so annoying, it even pops as if the speaker is going to blow apart, like fireworks 😅

      90% of the time is a capacitor tant, ceramic or electro
